This is nice. If their next album is gonna feature more of this heavier stuff, I'm all for that.
Although didn't they just release an album literally a year ago?
| |
Very mediocre track, Aaron sounds good tho
| |
i mean it's awful but it's at least somwhat listenable compared to their last couple
| |
imagine being a member of this band still
| |
Shit band that simply just needs to stop.
| |
aaron's screams in the beginning sound like his older stuff in jamie's elsewhere. thankful for that
| |
Vocals are solid, music feels oddly generic even for them.
| |
It's boring but I pretty much just listen to them for running music & this is perfect for that. I'm sure it'll be a fun pit song
| |
yeah and the production has been for shit for a while now.
| |
Happy they got rid of the cleans though. Aaron's voice is fine but they keep trying to do hard rock choruses.
| |
This song I kept expecting a hard rock chorus but it never came :-P next time they should fix their song structures
| |
I just want a stupid heavy YDG 4 with 10 breakdowns or something
| |
I just want something that sounds like it wasn't written in 15 minutes and taken straight from the "metalcore by-the-numbers" playbook. This isn't bad, but holy hell is it generic.
| |
Fuck, even Miss May I feels less by-the-numbers to me.
| |
Convinced that OM&M can't write music to save their lives. I do think they can write good by the numbers scenecore though, and that's all I'm expecting. If they could write good music, they would have done so on Defy
| |
Fair enough.
| |
why is shit like this still being made in 2019
| |
At least he brought back his harsh vox from his Jamie’s Elsewhere days
| |
Amazing song. OM&M clearly don't make music for people on this site so idk why these people try
| |
Not too bad. I actually liked Defy so this new album should be worth checking out.
| |
"OM&M clearly don't make music for people on this site so idk why these people try"
I'm sure every band writes music with sputnikmusic.com in mind
| |
I like it well enough, but the lyrics give me school shooter vibes. Not trying to be edgy, they just genuinely sound off like that to me
| |
Best song I've heard from them since anything off The Flood
| |
Eh, I'd still take pretty much anything off Restoring Force.
| |
Restoring Force was trash save for like 2 songs. Band should have packed it in after The Flood
| |
RF was such an instant album for me though, it took at least five or so listens for me to even get into The Flood. Plus tracks like "You Make Me Sick" destroy this.
| |
RF isn't my jam but it's one of the best selling records in the genre. It's really not a bad album.
CW wasn't that bad either in hindsight. A better mix & getting rid of Austin's awful vocals would have helped it big time.
Defy was just dated. Perfectly passable scenecore tho (just like The Flood but people can't admit that their favorite album isn't a masterpiece)
| |
yeah, I mean The Flood's my favorite now but it had to WORK to get there. Restoring Force was one of the most immediate albums I've heard.
| |
It's about as good as their earlier stuff IMO. OM&M have never anything much special anyway. This is about as generic as they always have been, but people are just starting to realise that it seems.
My favourite was probably Restoring Force despite (well, maybe that helps actually) how it wants to be Sempiternal
| |
The Flood>S/T>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>everything else
| |
I don't know, there's something about their past work that felt a lot more engaging and exciting. This feels like an outtake of Forever YDG'n that just replaced the cleans with more screaming to me.
| |
Ugh, the self-titled is so goddamn samey but it wasn't terrible.
| |
Shut up Deathbat
| |
Alright, I'm wrong, the self-titled is the most varied piece of music in existence. What with its different rhythms for the breakdowns in every song.
| |
Never said that
It's just more enjoyable than Restoring Force and Defy and Cold World
| |
Well Defy and Cold World, yeah. Maybe I'd agree with RF if I didn't have years of backstory associated with it.
| |
Years? Aren't you like 12?
| |
Uhm, I bought Restoring Force roughly around release day in 2014. By that metric I must've been like seven.
Which I wasn't, I was just on the cusp of turning 15.
| |
Mhm sure
| |
Actually nah, I officially bought the album on February 6th, 2015. I actually have the transaction logged somewhere. Regardless, I've owned the fucker for four years now. I just remembered wrong because I had it in my library before then.
| |
That's nice
| |
This song's still not that great, it's like a slightly heavier "Forever YDG'n" with no cleans but nearly the same exact song structure. At least it doesn't let up on the heaviness for a clean hard rock chorus, I guess?
| |
I was also told I'd "fucking love" this song, so maybe that's why I'm not so hot on it.
| |
I don't see how this is reminiscent of their earlier sound, this song sounds like a b-side from their last by-the-numbers album
| |
Yeah I mean the biggest difference is there's no cleans. ooh how different...
| |
Glad they finally took some responsibility and put out a PSA on how to survive the trauma of hearing one of their albums.
| |
holy shit lol
| |
Again with the sense talking Mason. Looks like you’re someone I can trust for melodic/2010s metalcore at least
| |
"The Flood>S/T>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>everything else" [2]
On another note, I didn't even realize there were this big defenders of Restoring Force out there
| |

| |
This doesn't sound like Forever YDGN because that song has like 5 different breakdowns. This is just a repetitive mid tempo hxc song. Still fun for what it is.
| |
lmao
| |
Pretty good. Y'all are tripping.
| |
This is decent
| |
@ScreamoGaze: Fair enough.
@bgillesp: Hahaha ;-)
| |
betray where you been, we need your 2018 dxc list
| |
I just want a stupid heavy YDG 4 with 10 breakdowns or something [2]
| |
Really not a fan. I like the riffs, I actually like the lyrics... but those screams just ruin it. Defy was better.
| |
I can dig it!
| |
the extremely flat mix and completely bland vocals really ruin this for me, I'm not usually one to say hyperbolic shit like this but they really should've broken up when austin left
| |
Nah they probably should've broken up when Shayley left
| |
Kurt Travis was originally going to replace Shayley instead of Aaron.
What a weird timeline that would have been.
| |
what the point in keeping this band alive?
| |
@Kenbo, tbh would've been interesting to hear lol
| |
@William21 yeah you're right honestly
| |
