Tidied the article up a bit.

"And with this now we die"
Seriously though, sad to see them go

Had to use a tinyurl cos the actual link is long af
| |
lmao
| |
After that last album it was about time they thought about hanging it up.
| |
I just love how it took an album this bad in order to do it.
| |
well at least they went out on a high note
| |
eehh more like an above average note imo
| |
I was trying to be ironic
| |
Middle finger in the air in honor of our fallen hero
| |
Good
| |
Robb probably told them that they should play Bastards on every concert, to which Phill and the other said "Hell no!".
Jokes aside, this makes me sad. The Blackening and Locust were fantastic, and even after that turd they dropped earlier this year I was hoping that they might go back to that direction.
| |
other guys prolly got sick of Robb
| |
You could tell there were some issues coming to surface when Phil posted earlier this year about how he's not allowed to do press.
| |
Rob probably showed them his idea for new matching outfits for the next album cycle.
| |
One last song called Machine Head Are Machine Dead
| |
oh well
| |
It's better to burn out than fade away
| |
I'm glad I saw on the "Evening w/Machine Head" tour earlier this year. I would have many regrets I had never gotten so them live.
| |
Machine Head are one of my all-time favourite bands, but this is likely for the best.
| |
thank god because that band fucking blows lol.
| |
In the video Robb said the bass player decided he’s not leaving the band this morning, Machine Head isn’t breaking up. Just Phil and Dave leaving the band. Sounds like Robb is just gonna be taking some time to re-evaluate the band and weigh his options. Maybe Machine Head will come back with a new lineup or maybe not but when he said “let’s make it a celebration” he was talking anoht Phil and Dave’s time with the band not the band ending.
| |
Nah, they should disband.
| |
Had some dope albums here and there. Sucks to see em go
| |
That video is ten minutes of rambling and it's so hard to tell what is actually happening
| |
Good
| |
Losing Phil is a huge blow, good luck replacing him.
| |
Should have disbanded 20 years ago
| |
oh shit, didn't see this coming.
Haven't payed much attention to them since Unto the Locust, but that one and The Blackening fucking slayed
| |
wow I totally missed that 2 avg. for their last album lmao
RIP tho, haven't really listened to them for a while but they've had their share of bangers, especially The Blackening.
| |
RIP, used to be good.
| |
now flynn will have more time to advocate for social justice
| |
Well this fucking sucks.
| |
I liked them but nah it's probably for the best
| |
This was big suprise for me , well last album was not good at all
| |
green to red
| |
I walk from my machine
| |
always crap
| |
Thank god. Bring back Vio-Lence
| |
Harsh. I thought you'd be more bummed since you're been a champion of their lesser loved records.
| |
MAGA

and nothing of value was lost
| |
get help ghost
| |
and go fuck yourself sinternet you traitor
| |
Hey don't take it out on Sinternet for being the messenger.
| |
I agree, it's probably for the best at this point but I still thought you would express more emotion dewd. And fuck the messenger, this is Sparta.
| |
Joke's on you, Sint is too fat to fall down the Sparta pit. You think you're gonna kill him like that? Nope, just minorly inconvenience him.
| |
I don't care if she doesn't fit through the pit, she'll get the message goddamn it. We'll pull her ass out like Winnie the Pooh.
| |
i object to being called fat
| |
fat cunt
| |
Also, Rob is such a try hard, he thinks he's so metal and this really down to earth rock dude.
Poser.
Their last album was cringe as shit
| |
you're a mindless fat cunt sinternet just own it like the bigger person :P
| |
I worship yer mean meat curtains if that helps
| |
And nothing of value was lost today
| |
The moment I saw this news article, I thought that Thrust guy was gonna post about making a tribute to this band by tattooing all the lyrics of Catharsis on his back.
Reading this thread, I'm disappointed...
| |
damni commend them for finishing the tour but i cant help but find this hilarious 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
| |
Do i detect some Cynic-level drama going on here
| |
Good Riddance.
| |
Thank god. Bring back Vio-Lence (X2)
| |
No biggie. Burn My Eyes was the only thing remotely worth a damn.
| |
That's like, not even close to true but you go 'head and do you booboo.
| |
The More Things Change is dece
| |
If you don't like The Blackening you don't like music.
| |
I think this is one of the most disrespectful "band disbands" thread I've ever read. Usually it takes ten to fifteen years of bad albums for people on sputnik to dare say something like "to be honest, it was about time."
6 out of 9 Machine Head albums have an average above 3.5. Last album was a mistep but the band had been solid since 2003.
| |
I don't like the Blackening but i like music. Help?
| |
No.
| |
The Blackening is trash-tier.
| |
It's probably one of the most overrated modern metal albums.
Sorry, but Machine Head just weren't that good.
| |
The fact that The Blackening got that much praise but Lurking Fear didn't is ridiculous.
| |
This is a music appreciation site not a place for you all to posit conspiracy theories.
| |
This band sucks so much Robb Flynn bought a vacuum to suck out his teenage angst and put it on an album in his 50's. Last time I checked, dudes with tattoos and tongue rings don't clean the house. That's for bitches.
| |
"This is a music appreciation site not a place for you all to posit conspiracy theories."
Like what?
| |
rekt
| |
im like 160 lbs art don't harass me like that or i'll go anorexic
| |
Shut up you're like 5'2" that's still fat.
| |
still taller than ben shapiro
| |
but ben has one hell of a developed chin tho
| |
Reunite Vio-Lence ffs
| |
Maybe there will be a reunion later on, like Robb covering some Eminem songs circa 2018.
| |
sounds rad to me
| |
Ben Shapiro is 34 years old and is still in childhood.
| |
Damnit, my nigga Robb done goofed again
| |
I like when he drops hard Rs in his songs and everyone's like "What did he just say?"
| |
SLANDEROUS
| |
I might have missed it, but I didn't hear him say once Machine Head is finished. I heard this:
"the tour is still going to go on. we've all agreed to make this a celebration of our music and this 'era' of the band."
To me, it just sounds like there'll be a line up change. This is just coining in on the tour with its current members.
| |
Wouldn't be surprised
| |
The problem is that it's being called the Farewell Tour. If it's only called that to bid two of the members goodbye, that's a stupid fucking title.
| |
they probably use the title to sell more tickets
| |
I was thinking the same thing but I really hope that's not the case
| |
all i'm sayin is watch this space. he's obviously picked his words very carefully in that video and there's nothing to indicate the band/brand name is finished. I reckon flynn and the other guy will just continue on after the tour and call it a "new era".
then again, i'm a cynical bastard. so who knows
| |
add this news article to the conspiracy thread
| |
Band had its fair share of highs and lows, but judging from the departure of critical members, last album must have been a failure of epic proportions.
| |
#GetWokeGoBroke
| |
"The problem is that it's being called the Farewell Tour. If it's only called that to bid two of the members goodbye, that's a stupid fucking title."
the way i understood it is that all the band members stay for the tour..and machine head breaks up after the tour...
| |
Seems that Flynn just retracted his statement, Jared's decided to stay and it's basically going to be a new lineup.
I'll give credit to Flynn on his honesty, he's at least admitting that it's pretty much his fault.
| |
I'm praying that the next band won't be fear factory
| |
Pretty sure Flynn just said that this is the end of this "era" of Machine Head, its a farewell for this incarnation, but he intends to carry on at a later time.
| |
Too bad. I'm sure a lot of it went down to artistic direction. I have a hard time believing the other guys got into the politics as much as Rob. Saw them once a couple years ago and they're coming to my city again in a month or so. Not sure if I should go now though. Seems kinda depressing when you know they're just passing time till the end.
| |
Band hasn’t been my bag for quite a while now. Still, this is defo a loss.
| |
Yikes, that sucks. Very unfortunate but that's life I suppose.
| |
They have a strange discography. Masterpiece albums ( Burn my eyes, blackening) , Awesome albums (through the ashes, unto the locust) and absolutely pathetic albums ( burning red, catharsis)
It looks like two different bands release the albums with same members.
| |
"Masterpiece albums ( Burn my eyes, blackening)"
Yeah, no.
| |
We can have our opinions k, let freedom ring with a shotgun blast
| |
Never understood what's supposed to be so ridiculously good about "The Blackening", it's a good record but nothing too special in my eyes. I enjoyed "Unto the Locust" much more personally.
Anyways, not sure how I feel about this. They had some great stuff but looking at the last album it's probably for their own good.
| |
The Blackening was off-the-charts amazing, mostly thanks to Phil.
| |
band sucks
| |
The Blackening was not that good, I have never understood the freaking hype people have for it. It was just machine head with better-than-normal production.
Unto the Locust was a decent album tho
| |
You're clinically retarded if you think The Blackening didn't riff harder than almost any album that came out that year.
| |
"You're clinically retarded if you think The Blackening didn't riff harder than almost any album that came out that year."
About 75% of that album is crappy groove riffing and Mekong Delta's Lurking Fear rendered Machine Head's attempts entirely irrelevant anyway.
| |
I've never understood people who didn't understand how good The Blackening was.
| |
Cool to hear they might still go on. Unless they drop another record like Catharsis or Supercharger.
| |
They should've broke up a decade ago.
| |
Locust > blackening
| |
a decision that should have been a long time ago
| |
to be fair though, the departure of 2 members doesn't necessarily signify the end of the band, that is, until an official announcement is made
| |
The Blackening riffs hard yeah. Maybe it's groove-riffing, but it's some of the greatest groove-riffing in the business
| |
Blackening/Locust debate aside, the rest of their discography just didn't hold up.
| |
Burn My Eyes, The More Things Change (divisive album, but I like it a whole lot) and The Blackening are all great for the respective sound they want to create.
The rest of their discography suffers either from staleness or at worst just plain suckage
IMHO of course
| |
Yeah the first 2 records slay. TMTC is damn underrated. I'd also argue that Bloodstone was a pretty damn good album.
| |
Bloodstone is actually my favorite, but Blackening is a very close second
| |
Empires was kind of bad but it had some amazing songs in the first half.
| |
The best song on Empires was the bonus track Seasons Wither
| |
HEAR ME NOW
| |
^ Good song, one of the only ones I can jam from that album
| |
Elegy and Bite The Bullet are my personal faves from that one. And of course Imperium, In The Presence Of My Enemies and Descend The Shades.
| |
I always felt like Bloodstone and Diamonds sounds like Slipknot, never liked that album.
| |
Rob needs to put out a solo album called The Whitening in hopes that Colgate or Crest pick up the lead single for their toothpaste commercials
| |
just re-listened to some of The Blackening to see if it was as terrible as I remembered it. It was. Shit band.
| |
Ffs if they'd have just toured Burn My EYes in the last few years - now I'll never get to see Davidian and Old live but wasn't gonna pay 50 quid to sit through the utter shite from the rest of their career
| |
Vermillion lmao I think you're thinking of Catharsis.
| |
I got only very vague memories of Catharsis lol
Game Over could easily be a new slipknot song.
| |
Game Over is like bottom 3 for me, but that's the only song that sounds like that, there's 14 other songs.
| |
And you should revisit Catharsis. It's aged well. =)
| |
It wasn't "That" bad musically but damn the lyrics gave me a hard time listening to it. Unto the Locust is still my absolute favorite, except for those child choir parts it's really fucking great.
| |
I usually don't pay too much attention to Rob's lyrics, but yeah, he's honestly an awful poet. He's like a gorilla trying to perform surgery.
| |
I was planning to make a ''Blackening/Whitening'' joke, but bloc's comment is 5/5.
Also:
yeah, he's honestly an awful poet. He's like a gorilla trying to perform surgery.
Couldn't agree more with this.
| |
Machinehead is a great band and has a good handful of excellent albums
| |
Damn. They put out some solid ass albums in the past!
| |
"well at least they went out on a high note "
lol, yeah honestly that's my problem with this. on one hand, good thing they didn't make another piece of shit. this way, it'll mostly be forgotten and they'll be remembered for the good they've done. on the other hand, why would you want to leave on the worst album of your career where you blatantly sought pop/mainstream appeal and left your roots behind? i'd just get right back in the studio, write the hardest ep of my career and then have a mini farewell tour with it and then be done. would be a nicer finish. , but either way, good band for a decent length of time.
| |
Kind of funny to see everyone shittalking this band being fuckers who can't differentiate between an artists work and beliefs. Not that great of a band but unfortunate anyway
| |
"Damn. They put out some solid ass albums in the past!"
Solid bullshit agreed
| |
Apparently they're not breaking up, the "farewell tour" is for the members that are leaving.
| |
