Machine Head break up

2018-09-28 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 142 Comments
Earlier this evening (Friday 28 September), Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn posted a live video on the band's Facebook page unannounced. In it he announced that guitarist Phil Demmel, who had been in the band since 2004, had quit the band on Wednesday, with drummer Dave McClain, who had been in the band since 1995, leaving the next day. While Jared's stance on the band was unknown, Robb confirmed that these departures signalled the end of Machine Head.

Rather than cancel the upcoming tour, the band members have agreed to commit to the coming live shows, which will now serve as a farewell tour. No other information has been released.

Robb probably told them that they should play Bastards on every concert, to which Phill and the other said "Hell no!".

Jokes aside, this makes me sad. The Blackening and Locust were fantastic, and even after that turd they dropped earlier this year I was hoping that they might go back to that direction.

In the video Robb said the bass player decided he’s not leaving the band this morning, Machine Head isn’t breaking up. Just Phil and Dave leaving the band. Sounds like Robb is just gonna be taking some time to re-evaluate the band and weigh his options. Maybe Machine Head will come back with a new lineup or maybe not but when he said “let’s make it a celebration” he was talking anoht Phil and Dave’s time with the band not the band ending.
