Grunge superstars Alice in Chains have released a second single, titled "Never Fade" off their upcoming sixth LP, Rainer Fog. The album is scheduled for release on 24 August 2018 and will be the third studio album released by the band with vocalist William DuVall since they regrouped in 2006.

I can’t say I’ve liked any of the three songs released thus far. Something off with them, they’re missing that punch and even that “grunge” sound they had before. Maybe when the whole album is out I’ll get into it. Always loved these guys still.

To me it sounds just like the stuff from Dinosaurs, which I loved, so I'm still hyped.

Said this in another thread but I love that William is leaving his comfort zone finally. I know the dude can get more creative with his voice, I've heard it in his other projects
And this is the third single btw

I didn't really like the first 2 singles, but the chorus of this one was the bomb. I'm a little concerned about some of the production on this song though.

Yeah that Nick Raskwhatever dude they've been with since Black Gives Way to Blue kinda sucks.
I've since accepted that all of their albums from this point onward will have shit production.

yeah this is only ok and the production is not great. none of the singles have been good yet seems like they kinda lost their touch with this one, unless the nonsingles are just awesome waiting to be heard.

BGWTB production was fine tho, so not sure about that comment

I just wish they'd have renamed the group honestly. Not that Jerry wasn't essential to everything they did with Layne, but without Layne it's just a totally different band.

Yeah, it's gonna sound different without Layne but I think there's enough similarities and idiosyncrasies to justify keeping the name.

If Dinosaurs was a mix between Dirt and s/t, this album seems like it'll be a mix of s/t and Facelift. Interesting direction.

they aren't a totally different band in the least. no disrespect to layne staley, but jerry cantrell is alice in chains. it's his band and still is. william duvall is a pretty awesome replacement. i honestly think he brings more to the band than layne did.

^^hear hear
If Jerry had died instead of Layne Alice wouldn't have gone on. Jerry has and always will be the backbone of the band.

My personal favorite single so far. They've been leaning on their sheer sonic muscle so much lately that you almost forget how good AiC is at writing a hook.

I really dig the chorus even if it is pretty simple.

Black Gives Way to Blue is probably my favorite comeback record to this day. Never got around to hearing The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.

Not quite as good as Black Gives Way to Blue and a little bloated but it's definitely worth hearing. Choke, Lab Monkey, and the t/t are all up there with their best.

Everyone's opinion here is completely whack.

This single is fantastic! Definitely my fave single from the new album, just a bit ahead of The One You Know which was a grower for me (I didn't like the 2nd single very much, felt too much like a deep cut album track)

Sounds like an unreleased 90's track, in the best kind of way, shades of Facelift and their demo days. Energetic and riffy with a relatively simple, catchy as hell chorus that's huge, total earworm.

It's a lot different than most of their recent output, faster, more upbeat, more succinct. I swear it's like nobody here actually listened to the song.

It's not my VERY FAVOURITE song they've done in the Duvall era, but it's easily one of the best singles.
