edit: it's not...terrible?
| |
Better than the 30STM Walk on Water.
| |
It's underwhelming but it's not THAT bad
| |
nah guys this is absolutely terrible. em has done so little over the past handul of years that he had to remind us he wrote Stan, which was released... 17 years ago this month
| |
Woof, you know I made my comment before I had even listened to the track on an assumption, but... dang.
That Beyonce hook needs to be in this song about 50% less.
| |
Hopsin's probably mad Eminem stole his song
| |
the lyrics: "wah wah wah wah wah, remember when i made that amazing song 17 years ago, wah wah wah"
| |
i wrote stan
and this in 5 minutes.
| |
Tbf, the instrumental and overall vibe is pleasant. Beyonce sounds pretty good to despite more corny lyrics
| |
This guy should retire ASAP
| |
first Eminem song to feature a lady whiter than dido..
| |
also, congratulations on using the word rumour three times in as many sentences..
| |
this is what hiphop needs right now
| |
also is it really a rumor? pretty obvious there is a new album and that's the title or else they did a ton of marketing for literally no reason.
also congrats to whoever uploaded the walk on water single as the cover art for the new album lol
| |
Awful, might be the worst track I've heard from Em, and I'm counting FACK.
| |
Does this dude have a fetish for getting female pop artists to repeat one shitty hook 1000x in a song or what
| |
"also, congratulations on using the word rumour three times in as many sentences.."
Thank you.
| |
Idk I liked it, at least lyrically. It's really what the dude is facing down right now. It isn't all about technical rappers right now, and the shock factor he brought early in his career is now cliche. Gotta be rough to look at that and try to figure out where to go from there. Was good to hear him not just yelling into the mic for 5 minutes too.
| |
yeah, don't be too harsh guys.
| |
also crazy that a 45 year old guy is still saying retard in 2017
| |
awful and beyonce sucks
| |
sputnik hates everything, volume 18389182648286018365156849461648480
| |
this is legitimately absymal. trash bars, Em just can't do slower stuff
the only almost ok part was the hook and "beat", you could make a decent pop song out of that if you built on it
| |
I agree Eminem's flow is not aging well.
| |
It's been cool to hate Eminem since '04.
| |
song sux but at least m&ms still rule
| |
new drumpf diss when
| |
skittles > [2]
| |
hang up them spurs
| |
eh
| |
eminem is basically dr. seuss at this point
| |
Relapse "this is my comeback record!"
Recovery "No this is my comeback record!"
MMLP2 "Ok this is the real deal this time guys"
Revival "Time for my comeback!"
| |
"sputnik hates everything, volume 18389182648286018365156849461648480"
tru
| |
Remember in the early 2000's when you thought eminem was cool just because your parents didn't want you listening to his stuff, but then you got older and realized he actually sucks
| |
ronald rump is orange
| |
Mayhem stop listening to Eminem I have like 10 things you need to listen to
| |
He’s done much worse than this tbh.
Song is nothing really tho, literally does the bare minimum.
| |
Jesus
DO NOT PRESS PLAY!
| |
song is turds
| |
ok real talk tho how many people here prefer skittles over m&ms? i mean dont get me wrong, skittles rule too, but m&ms are like god tier imo
| |
Garbage.
| |
What the hell convinced him this song was worth releasing?
| |
To think he actually went with this version instead of the OG.. The fuck is this guy thinking, the beat was harder and the chorus didnt even Beyonce WTF...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2yGfgBvh3M
| |
one of the worst things i've heard all year
| |
This start-stop battle rap flow or whatever it's called that he's been using lately is so annoying... it only worked with the Trump freestyle because it was clearly a freestyle... does not translate well in songs
| |
Wow, that was pretty bad. Not even funny bad like a lot of Em material. This was just bland and badly put together.
| |
Also Kendrick already did the paper crumbling thing this year
| |
yeah I also completely agree with that. and that thing he does where he stops mid word and changes the pronounciation in order to rhyme it with another word sucks too
| |
Also why does he always end his verses with "because" or "so" so they can bleed into the hook in these more poppy type songs? It didn't sound cool the 281 other times he did it and it doesn't sound cool here
| |
And I really do like Eminem as a rapper but this track is like the perfect summation of why his music has kinda sucked the past 15 years
| |
"and that thing he does where he stops mid word and changes the pronounciation in order to rhyme it with another word sucks too"
Don't really have a problem with this personally, but I can see how it can seem masturbatory when Em does it.
| |
not a huge Eminem fan, but it's alright
| |
yes on the speakers, but if you mute it, it aint that bad
| |
Eminem is all about whining and bitching, I can only bear that for two minutes.
| |
"There should be a cut off age limit when you legally have to stop rapping. Like 19."
rapping like a 14 year old, or worse with that annoying voice.
| |
Okay so I have mixed feelings on this song. Obviously it's just meant to be catharsis for him, and in that sense, I appreciated it. Very emotional and personal lyrics, and he doesn't even try to hide what he means, he just comes right out and says it. On the other hand...it's not really enjoyable as a song, and is a baffling choice for a single. He proved he can still make good songs like Rap God and Rhyme or Reason, let's hope he didn't lose that in the 4 years since the last album.
| |
love eminem
| |
It's straight up garbage. Nothing more to say.
| |
It’s pretty bad, but not too offensively. 2/5
| |
Fair
| |
absolute garbage
| |
Was hoping this would be good...
He just needs to stop at this point.
| |
I dont know why he insists on ending every verse with such an awkward transition into the hook.
Weird choice for a single, but not horrible
| |
'I dont know why he insists on ending every verse with such an awkward transition into the hook.'
because he cares more about playing with his flow around the metronome than making a solid song or giving a shit how the whole package fits together
| |
I think the last song he released that sound like he was even paying attention to the beat when he was recording was probably cold wind blows
for most of the last fifteen years eminem seems like he has consistently been the worst part of all of his songs
| |
Kind of judging him for featuring beyonce, there are tons of talented female voices out there he could have used instead, some a lot more interesting, and she is overexposed and overrated, but hey gotta go where the money is i guess. It's just funny because he's always acted like he doesn't care about those kinds of things, like he is a rap hipster or something. But he is featuring the same tired artists as everyone else in the mainstream.
| |
Dude is all technique, no passion or care for songcraft
| |
Personally, I think y'all can go choke on some dicks.
| |
Hasn't had any fire since Relapse
| |
song really gave me a big think
| |
Do you think Eminem is a good father
| |
Love Eminem and his work, that said, I stopped expecting anything from him after Encore
| |
Sweet Jesus....
| |
Holy fuck, Beyonce ruined what would have been an okay song.
| |
"She ruins everything she touches so no surprise there."
Yep, she's at best a 1.5/5 artist. Eminem should have gotten Rihanna to feature on this track like he did for so many others.
| |
This song was super weird. Haven't heard from the guy in three years, then this year he comes in on Big Sean's album and gives one of the best feature verses I've heard in ages, just guns blazing....then releases this sappy song? Dude's been an identity crisis for over a decade now and it looks like it won't stop here either.
| |
@Mayhem: Imo this song could have stood on its own as an enjoyable 3/5 but was brought down to a 2 by Beyonce's annoying hook.
| |
The problem was that here on this track it always feels like Eminem is (just about to) jump into a really fast, dynamic verse but never ends up doing it. The product is enjoyable but overall leaves you wanting more.
| |
Hopefully he'll pick up the pace on other tracks on the album.
| |
Cut out Beyonce and eminem and the melodramatic piano and you might have yourself a good song
| |
Lmao fuck this thread is hilarious
| |
this is straight up bad
| |
"Do you think Eminem is a good father"
Well he's more catty than all the hollybitches combined, that's something he could pass down as fatherly wisdom
| |
Better Beyonce than Skylar Grey
| |
"instead of grabbing random washed up female popstar #387 to fill in the space. "
Bruh how is Beyonce washed up she's fucking everywhere nowadays
| |
you guys are legitimately insane if you think beyonce ruined the song. she's the only remotely good part of the entire thing, no matter what anyone thinks about her as a singer or an artist. flow is trash, lyrics are terrible, as em said in the song "this shit is garbage."
no good albums in 17 years, 4 attempted comebacks now, and even his "classic" albums didn't age well at all. time to hang it up
| |
I'd say Beyonce is more relevant now than she's ever been... and that's REALLY saying something seeing as she's been super relevant for like 20 years now
| |
right? we are kidding ourselves if she say she's a 1.5/5 artist or washed up in some way. maybe she doesn't play instruments (that I know of) or right all of her songs herself, but come on. eminem is more washed up and more irrelevant than beyonce will ever be
| |
Beyonce can do a run faster and more complex than Eminem could with his rap. She's literally and instrument she doesn't need to play anything else
| |
But at the same time I disagree that Eminem is irrelevant (Revival will probably go platinum within its first week lets be honest), as well as washed up to a lesser extent... I'd say he's more out of touch than anything... He's a "lyrical" rapper in a rap game that places less emphasis on lyrics than it ever has... and he's rapping about how everyone thinks he's trash now, but he doesn't have the self awarness to realize that everything he gets criticized for (from a songwriting perspective at least) is more than present in this song, from the shitty beat to the internal rhyme abuse to the way too complex for it's own good flow to the shamelessly poppy hook that just so happens to be delivered by one of the biggest names in pop/Rnb.
| |
beyonce's flow is so good when she raps. it's too bad she doesn't do it more often
| |
you know I definitely agree that he might be more out of touch than anything. he raps about going over his songs and realizing they're garbage but somehow either didn't for this track or he genuinely doesn't understand why he's not as well received as he used to be. as i said previously, this is a 45 year old guy who got famous for rapping about murdering his girlfriend and shit like that. he doesn't seem to get why those lyrics haven't aged too well, and he doesn't get that people don't say retarded anymore.
he'd probably do fine if he had an ear for beats, but he doesn't. songs he has produced always sound terrible and a lot of his songs he raps over are plagued by this problem. for example, rap god, while technically impressive, has one of the most mind-numbingly bad beats i have ever heard.
and yeah it could go platinum easily, but that doesn't always indicate quality, as im sure you know

" just too white and nerdeeaay" - Weird Al
