I think this direction she's taking is really great... Ever since Pure Heroine there have been so many Lorde knockoffs (Kiiara, Halsey, Daya, Alessia Cara, etc) so it was kind of necessary for her to reinvent herself like this and remind us all why we cared about her in the first place. Great stuff.

I've only heard two things by Kiiara, that one track that Dose of Buckley made fun of, and her feature on Linkin Park's new track. I actually think Kiiara is more talented than Lorde.

Eh, I like it but I don't love it. I agree the transitions are awkward and the chorus is pretty dull. The pre-chorus is great though and it would be the perfect summer-indie-pop-in-the-city song if that carried on through the whole song. I have a feeling, or more of a hope, that this single isn't indicative of the entire album if only because the album art doesn't fit with this song imo.

Feels pretty formulaic. To me it sounds like she's fading into "generic female pop vocalist" obscurity but I'm not exactly a pop expert.

I did like her first album though. This just sounds less unique but it is only the single.

I don't know why but it reminds me of something Florence and the Machine would write. Obviously it's tailored to Lorde's strengths and lacks the dark undertones...but structurally (and the music video too, for that matter) it's pretty similar to 'Shake It Off.'
