Also excited to hear Tosin's contributions to the new Machinedrum album. This is gonna be a great autumn
|
| |
this year is out of control
|
| |
Sweeeeeet
|
| |
Can't wait for the biennial release of cold sterile wank with the other Dude chugging blandly in the background!
|
| |
unreal, and so soon? hell yea. 2016 will go down as one of the best years for music in a loong time
|
| |
I really liked weightless, hope they return to that type of sound.
|
| |
just release a new T.R.A.M. album instead please
|
| |
"weightless sucked shit."
lmao get the fuck outta here, weightless was way more out there, joy of motion was too safe
|
| |
I really dug Weightless, sorry.
It was a bit cold and clinical in places but I thought the glitchy electronics were just unbeatable, and the production does way more for me than on TJOM.
|
| |
I did not like Weightless at all. Will be interested to see what happens here.
|
| |
"Can't wait for the biennial release of cold sterile wank with the other Dude chugging blandly in the background!"
Couldn't agree less with you. One of the most emotional instrumental prog groups out there.
|
| |
band sucks hard
|
| |
Can't wait. Joy of Motion owned.
|
| |
"band sucks hard"
That's why two out of their three albums have a four rating.
|
| |
This year is too overloaded with awesomeness!
|
| |
another 2
|
| |
consider me looking forwarding to it ma men
|
| |
oh yes
|
| |
YYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS
|
| |
what's the point of preorderings albums? :D
|
| |
'he Madness of Many is the gayest album name I've ever heard.'
No, it isn't.
|
| |
Matt Garstka is a god among men
|
| |
joyofmotion u make me feel good feels
aka joy
|
| |
Joy of Motion was a BIG improvement over Weightless. Gonna be a lot of prog to hear this fall.
|
| |
hell yeah
|
| |
AaL + Misha = Good.
AaL w/o Misha = Meh.
These are just facts.
|
| |
Wow this news is totally out of the blue. Looking forward to it.
|
| |
"AaL + Misha = Good.
AaL w/o Misha = Meh."
Misha has writing credits on all their albums I'm pretty sure.
|
| |
"Also excited to hear Tosin's contributions to the new Machinedrum album. This is gonna be a great autumn"
wait what
|
| |
Pretty sure Misha was much more heavily involved on 1 & 3 than 2, and it certainly showed.
|
| |
Never really got into their albums but I like watching Tosins guitar vids on youtube.
|
| |
His hand movements are mesmerizing.
|
| |
He's got some wrinkly ass fingers.
|
| |
Yaayyyyyy
|
| |
Dudes right thumb is literally shaped like a question mark.
|
| |
niiiice. The Joy of Motion was great.
|
| |
Never got into these guys. Vocals really make the songs for me usually. Hard to listen to an entire album of jamming without something spoken/growled over it.
|
| |
Missing out m8, it's good shit.
|
| |
These guys are one of the bands that finally got me into fully-instrumental stuff.
|
| |
"Never got into these guys. Vocals really make the songs for me usually." You must not like any post-rock then.
|
| |
"2016 will go down as one of the best years for music in a loong time"
I dunno about that. There have been a fair share of disappointing and abysmal releases this year
|
| |
There sure have, but the positives greatly outweigh the negatives
|
| |
"band sucks hard"
says the guy who's digging a tiesto album
|
| |
These guys are literally the only shred-prog metal that has stuck with me over the years. I loved the last album, and I can't wait to hear what's in store on this one.
|
| |
Stoked for this. Really love the direction they went with The Joy of Motion
|
| |

Plus a lot of deaths. Looking forward to this album. Not sure why the title/art is getting flak, it describes the atmospheric/soundscape quality of music these guys bring.
|
| |
fuck.yes.
|
| |
band slayed when they opened for Thrice. Will be sure to check this out.
|
| |
"These guys are literally the only shred-prog metal that has stuck with me over the years."
Same for me. And what's even more remarkable is that it's purely instrumental. There's quite something about Tosin and co. that no other instrumental band has.
|
| |
I can enjoy instrumental tracks all the same, but for a full album it's hard to keep my interest. Especially for a band where that's their entire discog. I dunno, maybe should give it a shot...
|
| |
Give 'er hell, dude. No shame in trying. I used to put their first album on shuffle while I was working or cleaning around the house because I wasn't into hearing a whole instrumental album and eventually I liked all the songs enough that hearing them in sequence was a fucking treat.
|
| |
That's actually some really sound advice. I'll give that shit a whirl. Any album rec's?
|
| |
niceeee
|
| |
People seem to trash Weightless but I tink it's a great album.
|
| |
many notes will be played
|
| |
Yaass. I hope Misha has some kinda input on this one, cause when he did on the 1st and 3rd albums, they ruled.
|
| |
Why is everybody saying 2016 is a good year ?
|
| |
I really liked weightless, hope they return to that type of sound. [2]
Joy of Motion was enjoyable and all, but Weightless had far more memorable moments to me. Odessa, Somnarium, Earth Departure, New Eden and Weightless are all killer tracks.
|
| |
"Why is everybody saying 2016 is a good year ?"
Because it is.
|
| |
lets hope its not a downhill spiral from the s/t like the last two albums would suggest, the clip i heard of new material sounded pretty underwhelming but ill reserve judgement until the full thing
|
| |

this so hard. like I said before it didn't sound like joy of motion took many if any risks. besides physical education and the woven web nothing stands out so much.
weightless was a pretty crazy album. navene's drumming was batshit on it
|
| |
"Why is everybody saying 2016 is a good year ?"
Because it is.
Seriously, so many great albums, it's ridiculous.
|
| |
weightless is way way more ambitious than joy of motion agreed
|
| |
The Joy of Motion has Matt Garstka so it's their best by default.
|
| |
lol
|
| |
'Any album rec's?'
Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone
Scale the Summit - The Migration
Probably the self-titled from these guys.
|
| |
Album title is very AAL, so excited omg
|
| |
they liked their announcement post so this is probably gonna be a 5
http://imgur.com/a/Pshtk
|
| |
Cool album cover, something new.
|
| |
Sweet! Tosin has been hinting at AAL continuing to move in a more accessible/pop-oriented direction, and I'm curious to hear what that means in the context of AAL.
|
| |
For djent, that just means everything will be in a major key
|
| |
If it will include a song featuring Taylor Swift I'll be losing my shit.
|
| |
Romeo play me something in 7.5/4
|
| |
you know it's good when there are so many haters
|
| |
Romeo: dun dun dun duuuund un dun.5 dun dun dun dun duuuuun.5
Juliet: Holy Shit was that a measure of 7.5/4 sub-divided over multiple bars of 4/4? with a triplet feel?
Romeo: yah
Juliet: tru.
