This band really needs to just call it quits. This was really bad still
| |
not too bad
| |
What about the singalong at the end? that didn't melt your heart?
| |
First half was a bit boring but it picked up steam on the second half and was entertaining.
Better than anything off Siren Charms at least.
| |
Better than anything off Siren Charms at least. [2]
if recollection serves, I agree!
| |
Oh boy
| |
i fart on this
| |
Pretty boring but not as bad as expected
| |
haven't made a worthwhile album since 2000
| |
To say it's better than anything off Siren Charms is kinda giving it false praise, it's still mediocre, and the vocals are cringy at times. I'll stick with Soilwork.
| |
Those group vocals kind of ruined what could have been a really good track. Anders vocals actually worked pretty well here too.
Those group vocals though, I don't know why bands think that shit is a good idea.

| |
Children choruses might be one of the absolute worst tropes/cliches in music these days.
| |
The vocals are eh.
| |
Def better than siren charms.
| |
That's at least quirky and self-aware. I'd say 60% less embarrassing than the ones on this track.
That rhythm/riff ruled so it kind of sounded cool together.
| |
ya i mean this bands been shit for 16 years so im not really surprised, wasnt expecting anything
| |
I liked it! Illusion of progress baby!
| |
Boring, but better than anything on Siren Charms, so that's an improvement.
| |
The production is certainly an improvement, even if the cymbals are nonexistent.
| |
This is so bad lol.
| |
rules
i dig
| |
completely and utterly meh
| |
I went into this really hoping it would be good and it just wasn't, sad day.
| |
unable to pull a soilwork it seems
| |
Basically Siren Charms mixed with A Sense of Purpose. Which is probably the best we're gonna get from In Flames at this point. So take that how you will.
That Decibel article says the band are signed to Eleven Seven now. Yikes. What happened to that Nuclear Blast deal? I know they released SC on Epic, but didn't they move back?
| |
sounds like they're still on Nuclear Blast for Europe, Eleven Seven's just their North American label now.
song is alright, which is better than I can say I expected. definitely get more of a Sounds of a Playground Fading vibe from it, and I liked that album. still very skeptical about how the rest is going to turn out though.
| |
fuck yeah Flug bro
| |
of course it's no Jester Race 2 but catchy stuff regardless, kinda like it
| |
is Battles gonna release an album called In Flames?
| |
Gaaah the fuckin choir was awful
| |
All I could think was " Last day of the rest of my life I wish I wouldda known cuz ida kissed my mama goodbye".
| |
unable to pull a soilwork it seems [2]
Gaaah the fuckin choir was awful [2]
| |
The album art is enough to know it will be bad
| |
I'm not big on the album art, but the single art for this is pretty good
| |
almost a decent track really
| |
Woah, what's with Sputnik today. Expected nothing but the generic Metallica "this band hasn't been good since ____" banter.
| |
For what it is, I actually like the song.
| |
good song
| |
rules
| |
this is being better-received by Sput than I expected.
| |
not diggin this
| |
lol in flames releasing a new song the same day as Meshug? paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas
| |
that was pretty ew
| |
sputnik showing its ugly closeminded side again
| |
"All I could think was " Last day of the rest of my life I wish I wouldda known cuz ida kissed my mama goodbye"."
DUDE don't even joke about that. Youth of the Nation is classic!
| |
It's an okay song, definitely not bad.
It's my first In Flames song btw.
| |
Oh you should probably go listen to more In Flames.
| |
"lol in flames releasing a new song the same day as Meshug?"
It's funnier because they're both on Nuclear Blast lol
| |
i was never that big a fan of these guys but jam jester race and colony, they're really fun
| |
Yeah that 4.3 on Jester is enticing.
| |
Subterranean through Clayman are GOAT, after that they kinda just turn into music similar to this single but way better until Come Clarity, and then it turns into hot poopoo.
| |
Subterranean through Clayman are GOAT [2]
| |
Not terrible but not outstanding either.
| |
It wasn't incredible but I still enjoyed it. I can imagine high school me obsessing over this song though.
| |
they've been awful for like 4 records now
still no signs of improvement
| |
This is passable (aside from the children vocals, what in god's name were they thinking????!!!), sounds like a poppier version of something off STYE. Will listen to the album... Was expecting a lot worse.
| |
please actually be the end
| |
Sounds Of A Playground Fading was their best record since Clayman. I don't know what the fuck happened after that one was released. They were able to dumb down their sound to nothing.
| |
guest with a bad opinion like usual lol
| |
Got into this band listening to Jester Race yesterday. Hearing this today has almost completely turned me off them.
| |
another new song is out on Spotify http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTxe__ZjTQo
what the fuck is this shit
| |
this was shit
| |
Second song was abysmal.
| |
Pretty lame. As said earlier, stick to Soilwork. I just got home from seeing them live, they're fantastic.
| |
Even Soilwork's new B-Sides album shits all over this.
| |
it hurts it hurts
| |
this was guaranteed to be bad the moment Howard benson put his grubby fingers on it. just look at his production credits, every album he's done for like 10 years is terrible
| |
not true, Feeding the Wolves was alright
| |
well the new otep was pre cool
| |
that album's not terrible but still the worst 10 years album
| |
but ye, first song isn't great but better than most of siren charms. 2nd song is a catastrophe
| |
I really hope that second song is the worst on the album
| |
overall that guy has a terrible track record i would say. even when working with motorhead he arguably produced their most lackluster records.
| |
Trying to find something in Benson's credits that I like. Hmmm... Otep was alright but tbh if she wants something done a certain way Benson won't be able to stop her. POD have done nothing of note since Satellite, 3 Doors Down suck ass, Hoobastank's only decent stuff was on their S/T anyway, Crazy Town's Darkhorse would've been OK if it was just an EP, oh here we go: Skindred's Babylon. Before Benji became an old racist and a solid album.
| |
when working with ANYONE he produces their most lackluster records
| |
the last record he did that i would give more than like a 3 is saosin's self titled. that was 10 years ago
| |
"when working with ANYONE he produces their most lackluster records"
he's doing the new All That Remains album and I honestly don't think they're capable of getting any more lackluster than they already are
| |
he will find a way
| |
"I honestly don't think they're capable of getting any more lackluster than they already are"
That's what I thought after A War you Cannot Win and I was unfortunately was wrong.
| |
yawn
| |
I mean it's pretty pleasing pop metal, but I doubt 40 minutes of this would leave you wanting more. 3/5 song, but an entire album of this quality would prob be a 2.5 and a challenge to sit through.
| |
there's supposed to be 15 fucking tracks on the thing too, not even counting the inevitable bonus tracks
| |
the vocalist sounds like hes operating in a completely different genre than what the actual music is.
| |
Children choruses might be one of the absolute worst tropes/cliches in music these days. [2]
but kinda liked it overall. even though they've gotten worse and are going for a bit more accessibility obviously, they're definitely still good.
| |
"do you think about the end"
yeah, and i ended the song shortly after that.
| |
"Got into this band listening to Jester Race yesterday. Hearing this today has almost completely turned me off them."
dont let their shitty new shit ruin them for you, youve still gotta jam Whoracle, Colony, and Clayman. and some people consider Lunar Strain essential too, but eh.
| |
Cool intro riff, lazy repetitions, horrible cleans and choir
| |
Second song titled "The Truth" is now on Spotify. "We are, we are, we are...". I think The End was better than The Truth, but it is still better than anything on Siren Charms in my opinion. This album seems to lean more towards the Sounds of a Playground Fading sound, and I actually liked that album.
| |
Went to the In Flames band page while listening to "Where the Dead ships dwell" and saw this album and artwork added to the database and was like oh gotta check the news section. Halfway done with this song and it seems like this album could at least be twice as good as the last one. I love In Flames
| |
okay so a sing a long and a guitar solo at the end with anders clean singing having been cleaned up since the last album makes this not just better than the last album but actually interesting unexpected and welcome. great stuff 3.5/5
| |
This is just another case of a band letting go of its roots to explore a more mainstream sound
| |
Fuck, the second song is bad
| |
i never saw the phrase "sticking to your roots" as a compliment. if a band wants to try new sounds then they should, experimentation should be encouraged. but yeah, blatant commercialism like this doesnt usually pan out well.
| |
"This is just another case of a band letting go of its roots to explore a more mainstream sound"
That's just your angst bro.
| |
I like The End but the second track is really bad
| |
That second song hahaha. They always manages to find some new way to embarrass themselves
| |
this band has never really been very good
| |
but at least their early stuff wasn't shitty buttmetal
| |
Second track isn't very good but also not bad to the point of hilarity like some here try to make you believe.
| |
You know, everbody circlejerks about The Jester Race and how amazing it was, but honestly I never found it to be a very interesting album. A Sense of Purpose was the real crown jewel in In Flames' career and this style change just further proves how amazing they've become. IN FLAMES ARE BACK! In flames we trust!
Just kidding, this fucking blows mega cock. In Flames hasn't been good since ever.
| |
lol funny joke, i thought u were serious about Sense of purpose damn !!!
| |
Not a horrible song...
| |
There's going mainstream, and then there's going mainstream and being really generic whilst doing it. I hate the Black Album, but if you're gonna sell out Metallica basically wrote the "Metal Howto" book on it.
| |
I like how no one noticed that Howard Benson is the producer.
I really liked The End; The Truth was ehh though. It seems that Anders is getting better at singing.
| |
ye i still dig his vocals when they're not as bad as on through oblivion. especially live he rules imo.
| |
"this was guaranteed to be bad the moment Howard benson put his grubby fingers on it."
"I like how no one noticed that Howard Benson is the producer"
did you even read the thread?
| |
I just can't do it In Flames, gonna have to peace out.
| |
I need to find that second song yall said was better
| |
everybody's saying the second song is even worse though
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTxe__ZjTQo
| |
Really everyone here says it's the better one.
| |
Thank you man
| |
"Second song was abysmal."
"but ye, first song isn't great but better than most of siren charms. 2nd song is a catastrophe"
"Fuck, the second song is bad"
"I like The End but the second track is really bad"
"I really liked The End; The Truth was ehh though"
and those are like the only comments specifically addressing the second song
| |
dude's trolling.
| |
How is that trolling? I am simply mistaken. I must have been looking at youtube comments, or got the names of the songs mixed up. I like The End more, but The Truth didn't offend me. I heard it and moved on lol.
| |
Didn't offend is pretty much the same as horrible
| |
"Just kidding, this fucking blows mega cock. In Flames hasn't been good since ever."
you got me, hard.
| |
Both tracks are cringe-worthy. The 2nd was worse though.
| |
I hope by 'The End' they mean the bands run
| |
fuck this band
| |
Looks like they won't be pulling a Soilwork and recovering any time soon.
| |
It's funny because this album will probably simultaneously piss off 3 different types of IF fans
"I want Whoracle/Jester Race wtf"
"I want RtR/STYE/Come Clarity wtf"
"I want Siren Charms wtf"
| |
last type is none existant
| |
the dude that wrote/played the solo to december flower should've replaced jesper when he left, might've steered them back to glory (but prob not)
| |
My favorite band until ASOP was released, but hell, that was 8 years ago, meaning they were last good 10 years ago. Saying this is bad would probably be wrong but it's not good either. I for one don't care for mediocrity coming from a once great band.
| |
I hope 'The End' is referencing their career. This is as generic as it gets.
| |
In Flames really has gone off the deep end of terrible now.
| |
Yeah it is def terrible...
| |
New In Flames makes me wonder if I actually liked their earlier stuff or if it's just nostalgia.
| |
that doesn't make any sense
| |
This album is gonna be one shitty birthday present tbh
Single isn't terrible, but not good either. Only part that I genuinely enjoy is the chorus. A full album of stuff similar to this is gonna be dog shit.
| |
This is still worse than the worst songs from figure number five by soilwork
mildly enjoyable for what it is but those choir vocals are fucking embarrassing, yeah I'll pass
| |
Overall the biggest crime of in flames IMO is that they seem to be directing their music towards 10-14 year olds with their lyrics and kiddie aesthetics
| |
I mean... I don't really dislike either song, but in the same way that I don't dislike Papa Roach or Halestorm or any other vapid pop rock band. There's a time and a place for it, even if some angsty 19 year old neckbeards on the internet who wear trenchcoats to sociology class are disgusted by everything that isn't eastern european black metal.
Colony is vomiting in its grave though.
| |
I will always bitch about every new In Flames album and say things like "Clayman was their last great album, after that they turned to SHIT." You can call me a broken record, but thats just the way things are man. In Flames: breaking hearts since 2002.
| |
Setting hearts up in flames.
| |
I am laughing at how processed Friden's vocals are though. His cleans sounded like nails on a whiny chalkboard for the past several albums and you KNOW that those were cleaned up considerably from the raw recordings. This time around they just said fuck this shit and hid him behind overdubs, sing-a-long choruses, electro-pop beeps and bloops and god knows what else and autotuned the tits off whatever was still audible.
| |
I actually think Clayman as a whole already was rather underwhelming. Jester Race is where it's at
| |
"Setting hearts up in flames"
Giving me heartburn.
| |
One of the bonus tracks should be a cover of California Gurls. Then make Friden wear a wig of his former dreadlocks and have him star in the music video.
| |
good adolf
| |
@jesus Idk why but that made me laugh so fucking hard.
| |
