"Album is killer if you can get past it being made by nazi sympathizers"

They've made it crystal clear they aren't in interviews. Spreading those accusations doesn't help.

As far as i can tell it sounds like everything else they've done but without the frog vox. The one-guitar sound does still bug me, though.

At least Jon kinda said he felt bad about it later, though? Not much of an improvement but still.

"Discussions too nuanced for anyone on this site tbh so I don't know why I brought it up "

The discussion has been done to death in lists (where it belongs) and has no place on the news page for an album stream.

Also, you're a pompous idiot.

@gameofmetal exactly you can listen and be like yeah, this rules but then not give them a dime because they're bigots or whatever and fuck them lol

Definitely gonna jam this soon.

Genuinely curious, what's your issue here, Xeno? Do the band's alleged views make them not listenable to you? I mean, if the rumors are true, I can see that but I don't think you should be critical of other listeners necessarily. There have been countless cases throughout art history where odious artists have made great works. It is up to you if you can separate the artist from the art.

Idk but when the discussion about certain musicians descends to being more about ethics rather than their craft, nothing productive will come of it. If a conversation like this needs to be had, it shouldnt be initiated in a thread for a bands new album stream. It just derails everything and is disingenous to the rest of the site. Jesus

Yeah Xeno I definitely get what you mean, but to me, I usually just ignore it as much as I can. There's plenty of examples, as you said, but none are really a problem for me since I just enjoy the riffs. I don't usually pay much attention to the lyrics anyway.

Honestly the most challenging album for me to ignore the lyrics in lately was that Ahnoni (spelling for sure) album since they were so ham fistedly written and lacked any form of nuance yet people were claiming they were practically genius. But that's another topic and has nothing to do with the views themselves in neither her album nor metal in general.

Agreed. I could have written her crap lyrics in 5 minutes. Amazing that in the context of today's political rhetoric someone could be so highly praised for being a brash one trick pony considering extremes and embellishment are par for the course, but I digress.

Excited to jam this album.

He's not too dissimilar from Abbath most of the time [2] It took me a while to get past this since I regarded his vocals as a ripoff, but I let that go, and now I enjoy them.

Abbath actually emotes when he does his frog croaks, though. When Dagon does it he sounds like he's just pinching his nose and speaking in a monotone the whole time.
