I like it more than I thought I would. I think the pianos are a really nice touch. Not exactly a challenging song, but an enjoyable listen. Interested in more.

oh shit, that was unexpected
I'm diggin it. Hopefully Danger Mouse brought some much needed energy to the table. I'm With You was kind of a snore...
^Agreed, the piano and the strings really help to elevate the song.
|
| |
Not a fan of the chorus but the rest of the song is pretty solid.
|
| |
Interesting idea, but I don't think it works all that well - I think it tries so hard to be different that it loses it's sense of self, and anything associating it with RHCP...
The Danger Mouse input is clear as day - this could have been a Gnarls Barkley single ft. Antony Kiedis.
|
| |
pretty good. not great, but better than I expected.
pianos work great with it.
|
| |
oh how i miss the upbeat energetic punkifunkified vintage peppers of the glorious 80s
|
| |
Danger Mouse produced it and Nigel Godrich mixed it...hmm odd.
|
| |
I think aspects of the song are good, but there are a few concerns for me.
The verse is rock solid and it's good to hear Flea go heavy on the bass again. That part of the song, particularly Kiedis' vocal melodies, could have come right off of By the Way. Also, while I have some concerns about Danger Mouse's impact on their sound, his production work is at least better than Rick Rubin's.
That being said, the chorus is a little too familiar and the midsection struggles to find it's place. Klinghoffer is still unable to fit the shoes of his predecessor and even his solo at the end pales in comparison. Piano is also a minus for me just because I don't feel like the Chili Peppers are a band that needed it.
Overall, not perfect, but has me excited for what the rest of the album may hold. June 17th isn't that long of a wait!

It's better than the majority of Stadium Arcadium and all of I'm With You
It sounds like it belongs on By the Way honestly haha.
|
| |
It's better than the majority of Stadium Arcadium
I'm of the opinion that chronic dysentery would be better than the majority of Stadium Arcadium - just could not dig that record at all.
|
| |
I wouldn't go that extreme, but Stadium Arcadium was a solid 2/5 for me.
|
| |
it's not bad!
|
| |
I think it was just unbearable for me because it was just so painfully by-numbers that it bore me to tears. There wasn't even enough good on there to warrant a single album let alone a double.
IMO, obv.
|
| |
I totally agree.
Hump de Bump is the only song I really go back to on there.
|
| |
Inconsistent songwriting and excess aside, I found Stadium Arcadium to be pretty enjoyable, but that's just me. I'm With You is a different helicopter ride entirely, however...
Regarding this new song here, it's alright. I like the most is Flea's playing on the track.
|
| |
really like it so far
|
| |
Alright. I think it's a stronger direction musically...maybe not for them but oh well. I actually prefer Raindance Maggie to this.
|
| |
Hmm. Not bad, but not especially memorable either. RHCP was just not cut out for middle aged-ness.
|
| |
hillel slovak era is the best era agreed sitar
|
| |
disagree cuz I'm a softcock
|
| |
Wow. Didn't realize so many people disliked Stadium Arcadium. I thought it was a pretty great record.
|
| |
"hillel slovak era is the best era agreed sitar"
Yeah, they used to be a dumb fun band whose only goal in life was making stripper anthems and porn soundtracks. Now? They're these old dudes who feel stuff and have mortgages and kids in college (I'm assuming).
|
| |
yeah this is decent
|
| |
best song they've made
|
| |
I actually dig the shit out of this. This is a nice progression of their sound.
|
| |
Miles ahead of anything on I'm With You
|
| |
The song is brilliant, much better than anything on I'm With You for sure. I am stoked for the album now!
|
| |
Also, Stadium Arcadium is an incredible album. Never understood the hate for it
|
| |
its ok, but i think that the dangermouse flair is going to get stale pretty quick. glad to see theyre going in a better direction again, at least.
|
| |
Yeah, this is pretty good, but let's hope that the entire album isn't just basically 14 carbon copies of this. It would get old fast.
|
| |
Fuck yeah all RHCP is great
|
| |
seems like what they have been doing for 16 years now, which is good but done to death, the reason I like the Peppers so much is like U2 they always changed it up every few albums to keep things interesting
|
| |
This really shows some promise.
Still, I can tell it's an RHCP song because I have no idea what the fuck Anthony is talking about.
|
| |
Digging the bass work, although it's not that memorable upon first listen. Still better than Rain Dance Maggie by a mile though
|
| |
it's ok i guess. flea and chad are cool as always
|
| |
chorus is rediculously lame and kiedis just kinda sounds tired period...i dug the tune musically though, will check the album
|
| |
Damn, this came out of nowhere
Its pretty sick to boot
|
| |
Am I the only one who think this sounds a bit like Incubus?
|
| |
Sounds painfully average and worn out to me. Kiedis totally lost his punch, boring songwriting, nothing new at all. Everything what made them such a great and fun band in the first place is gone.
|
| |
Fcking double post.
|
| |
I liked it a lot until I realized it was going nowhere dynamically
|
| |
Seems a little flat, like there are some elements you'll find on earlier chili peppers records that this song just seems to be missing. That being said, the song is still pretty enjoyable. Looking forward to see what their next album holds.
|
| |
I'm digging it. Been awhile since I heard from these dudes.
|
| |
This is pretty groovy. I like it well enough.
|
| |
sensing a solid 3- 3.5 on this one
|
| |
Only thing renotely enjoyanle here is Danger Mouse's input
Band haven't been good since By the Way, and even that was inconsistent
|

rocks so hard
|
| |
lol just LOL at replacing chad smith with a handclap snare
get stuffed
|
| |
"lol just LOL at replacing chad smith with a handclap snare"
First thing to go is always the drums
|
| |
rules
|
| |
The intro is fuckin' chills man.
|
| |
I'm absolutely loving the strong piano on this, it's like the chillest songs on By the Way combined with a new direction for them, this album is gonna kill
|
| |
the kling influence is strong. couldn't be more excited for this
|
| |
piano is aight yea and nice little guitar outro but kiedis sounds eh and the drum/percussion sounds are ridiculous
last thing these dudes need is computerisation
bring back dat BSSM snare
bonham is rolling in his grave
|
| |
Should have named the album "The Concrete Jungle Book" based on the art.
Interesting direction.
|
| |
at least the chorus doesn't start with heeeeeeeeeeeey
|
| |
Kiedis is good on this and it sounds like they're using Josh's backing vox to their full extent which is basically all I wanted best album since BTW confirmed
|
| |
btw part 2 would be sweet with josh making 5 songs like dosed omg
flea already rehashed the can't stop bass line for this so it's looking promising
|
| |
agreed, nice to actually hear Flea's bass on this unlike Can't Stop
they definitely need a Dosed agreed, Hanalei from IWY sessions was close but not on the same level
|
| |
Damn, this was actually good.
|
| |
nice track, flea's part in verses really sounds like slower 'Cant Stop'
|
| |
It's a good track. Not amazing, but it's nice nonetheless. Anthony's sounding as samey and dull as in IWY, though.
|
| |
Hmmm Anthony sounds tired, the production is way too vanilla and that chorus is a complete non-starter.
|
| |
Needs more California.
|
| |
Needs more One Hot Minute.
|
| |
Shit's actually good. I lost interest after Frusciante left but I may have to check this out.
|
| |
Pretty cool song
|
| |
Stadium Arcadium: Jupiter is good. Mars is meh. This sounds like it'd fit on Jupiter just fine, it's pretty good.
And it's still much better than most mainstream rock these days. That bass!
|
| |
Horrid song, Danger Mouse needs to call it quits.
|
| |
danger mouse needs to call it quits [2]
he hasnt been all that good since his album with sparklehorse.
|
| |
This is pretty cool tbh, way better than anything they've done post-frusciante. It's definitely pretty different for the Chili Peppers, but they DESPERATELY needed to a change in direction and while this isn't a song for the ages, it's definitely a solid jam.
Danger Mouse has done well with Portugal. The Man btw.
|
| |
I haven't been a fan of the Chili Peppers since the 90's. I didn't mind any of their previous releases, theyre alright but this track was surprisingly better then expected so that's cool beans.
|
| |
it's like a RHCP song you can listen to while you're on hold
|
| |
I've accepted they ain't gonna be completely going back to the BSSM years, so yeah, new song's pretty cool, looking forward to the Getaway.
|
| |
This is actually pretty good, got my hopes up.
|
| |
Hoooo will be my eskimoww
|
| |
Now where have I heard that intro before? Hmm! Good song though!
|
| |
Smooth like butter. I diggit
|
| |
I just heard this today and I totally dig it, looking forward to hear their next record.
|
| |
Stadium Arcadium was probably their best album. Just sayin
|
| |
not even close.
|
| |
It was a good album, but far from being their best.
|
| |
