cool question mark
| |
brand new is post hardcore?
and the song was very meh except the end.
| |
idk what Brand New actually are classified as, I think Daisy is grouped as post-hardcore in my iTunes but maybe alternative is more accurate
I'm digging the fuck out of the cover
| |
i said this somewhere else but I used to love his voice but lately I've just been not diggin it as much without thrice accompanying him, idk why.
| |
"brand new is post hardcore?"
yes. alt rock too obviously but their last two albums are extremely post-hardcore. :]
| |
this cover sucks, too barebones, sounds unrehearsed af.
i don't think anyone will ever be able to really sell this song the way jesse does tbh.
| |
cool but singular live acoustic covers always seem a little cheap to me.
| |
I love Dustin and I've heard all of the covers he plans to include on the album but I'm excited anyway
| |
Other than the lyrics, Jesus Christ is a terrible song
| |
well it's a song that relies almost entirely on its lyrics and the delivery of those lyrics. i mean sure the guitars and drums are there and they set the mood, but they do little to truly convey expression of the whole song itself, barring the nice little guitar solo before the the bridge.
so, basically what you're saying is that it's not a terrible song at all...?
| |
No, the lack of engaging instrumentation makes it a boring song. It's initially one of the most striking and accessible songs off of Devil and God but after extensive listens, it is easily one of the least enjoyable tracks.
| |
IT'S ONE DIMENSIONAL MAN
| |
fair enough. obviously, the song is still emotionally melodramatic af, but i find the "lack of engaging instrumentation" a welcome contrast from the instrumental melodrama found in most of the album. i find the song displays a sort of "quiet desperation" that's enclosed and singular in it's occurrence, very well, a large reason as to why i think it's brilliant (if not, a tad lacking in substance?.
| |
In terms of quiet desperation I think Handcuffs is a better shout over all. Just captures a little bit more of the darkness lurking in the corners. That being said, man oh man has that album grown off me as a whole.
| |
Except Sowing Season. That song will probably always be good.
| |
I love the subtle guitars in Jesus, perfect song
Handcuffs is trash
| |
Hey now guys.
They're both good.
| |
I'd drown Rowan if I knew that his mother wouldn't cry.
| |
pots hxc
| |
good point there
| |
guy from thrice covers a brand new track, and sput doesn't short circuit
| |
i am surprised no one has corrected the album name yet. it is "thoughts that float on a different blood." boat just sounds silly haha.
| |
whoops, thanks
| |
Not a fan of the recording.
| |
I found it a bit shit.
| |
So you're saying this is a Brand New cover.
| |
jesus christ is a pretty barebones track yeah. that doesn't make it bad, but it does mean you have to sell it vocally and i don't think dustin does here
| |
man I wish he still did things I cared about. I don't get the move to do some of this stuff, he's capable of so much more
| |
^what would you like him to do? He put out his best solo album to date last year, he's working on a new Thrice album. And this is just a for fun release of covers...While this one is not the best, i've heard a bunch of them and they are mostly awesome. The miley cyrus cover rocks.
| |
Surprised no one on here enjoys this. I think he keeps getting better and better. His voice sounds amazing.
| |
"guy from thrice covers a brand new track, and sput doesn't short circuit"
it ain't 2012 sputnik anymore, johnnybro ;)
| |
yeah that's for true, thank vishnu
| |
"Surprised no one on here enjoys this. I think he keeps getting better and better. His voice sounds amazing."
my name is [redacted] and I enjoyed this cover
| |
The instrumentation on "Jesus Christ" couldn't be any other way. That song is perfect. The instrumentation sets the tone and mood of the song.
Not a huge fan of this cover though.
| |
I don't understand Brand New fans who think Jesus is a bad song. Every time "We all got wood and nails and tongue-tied at hate factories" sounds, I always have to try to hold it together. During the last (and second overall) show they did in Belgium I failed to do so. Luckily the venue was pretty dark so people couldn't see.
