German technical death metal band Obscura have released a music video for new song 'Akroasis'. The song is title track and will be featured on their upcoming fourth studio album, entitled Akroasis, which is due out on February 5th 2016 via Relapse Records.

Watch the music video below:

Album teaser is also available for viewing here:

The band have also announced new guitarist Rafael Trujillo and parting ways with Tom Geldschläger (guitarist who joined the band after Christian Muenzner leaving).

About the new guitarist Rafael, Linus Klausenitzer writes:

"Rafael is young and full of motivation. His great guitar tone, his speed and his tasteful choice of scales are just a little insight into his musical skills. We are very proud to have him on board and look forward to share the stages with him on the upcoming touring cycle."

And both parties writes about the parting ways with Tom Geldschläger / his contribution for the album:

"During the production of 'Akroasis', Obscura parted ways with Tom Geldschläger in early July. His contributions for the band will be credited in the upcoming album." - Obscura

"Obviously what you're hearing in it are my lead and rhythm guitar parts (fretted and fretless) and yes, it's still me on the album, including the 15 minute track (which there's none off in the teaser though) which I wrote for them." - Tom Geldschläger

So freaking good, been waiting for this. It's a shame though about what happened to Tom, I can sense there is some bad blood between the parties.

Anyway, I'm expecting this album to be of quality, and I'm sure it will deliver.

Well. They sure can play their instruments. They also sure can't write memorable songs. Oh well.

I thought its was pretty good, but like he ^ said, they aren't very memorable.

lol jesus christ how many sweeps is enough? really annoying lead guitar playing, but the song is ok I guess

@Game I think it feels warm because of the way the drums are mixed, the snare and kick aren't obnoxiously loud as usual in tech death. but then the problem is that the whole drumset is too quiet so it lacks power, the cymbals sound too "warm" for this style of music, it's really weird

hm but now I'm listening to the album teaser and they sound a bit better there. maybe it's just this song

also production is literally all mud in every instrument with no transients at all, fucking dreadful, not that i care but damn i wonder who thought it would be a good idea to mix like this. youtube doesnt kill the quality nearly that much, nah someone fucked up somewhere

Really? My recent attempt to be "elite" about metal? Dude, how is me thinking that a mix is terrible me attempting to be elite? I think you're mistaking my finally breaking out of my objective shell and being subjective about music for me trying to be elite. Why does it concern you if I voice my opinion about genuinely disliking something?

I never really liked this band much tbh. I thought that Cosmogenesis was pretty decent, but idk, it's kinda grown off of me a bit. Going back to what Jac said a while back, it's just so safe and squeaky clean.

I have a 4.5'd and one 5'd. I don't know what about them sounds safe or squeaky clean. IMO they're one of the most unique bands out there.

Hannes Grossmann (their old drummer) put out an album last year that's basically Obscura but better than they've been in a while. So you should all go check that if you haven't already.

why does like every tech death band have cosmic themes, it's so boring

album art rules pretty hard tho

tbh I think it's better than just screaming about killing people or being a viking or brutal sexual violence or all the other cliches dm bands beat to death. At least these bands have cosmic bleep bloops and cool artwork.

this is actually pretty cool. mix is typical overproduced modern tech death standard but there is lots and lots of interesting melodies going on here

Actually, I'm wrong, they're really good at their instruments, they're just terrible at being engaging, or enjoyable beyond the, "Oh wow, he has some mad skills," shit that so many people that worship this type of music seem to lap up [2]

I'm actually surprised you like this snox.
