Ex-Motorhead Drummer Passes

2015-11-12 by Black Daimon | 24 Comments
On November 11, former Motorhead drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor passed away, at the age of 61. The announcement was made when fellow former bandmate "Fast" Eddie Clark posted the following statement via Facebook:

"My dear friend and brother passed away last night.

He had been ill for sometime but that does not make it any easier when the time finally comes. I have known Phil since he was 21 and he was one hell of a character. Fortunately we made some fantastic music together and I have many many fond memories of our time together. Rest in Peace, Phil!"

Motorhead will always be Lemmy, Fast Eddie and Philthy Animal. Both Clarke and Taylor have always been underrated.

RIP.

Damn. He was one of the first drummers to routinely use double bass.
He was definitely an innovative and original drummer.
RIP.

Every time a drummer dies...there should be a parade in his/her honor.
Or something.

The innovator of the double bass kick. One of rock's great skinmen & a great character. Philthy's intro to Overkill on No Sleep til Hammersmith was my introduction to Motorhead way back in 1984. To this day, Motorhead remain my favourite all time band.

Cheers Philthy.

Motorhead for life.
