Solstafir ex-drummer statement 2015-06-06 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 9 Comments | Icelandic post-metal group Sólstafir have come under fire in recent days after a statement by former drummer, Guðmundur Óli "Gummi" Pálmason, on the former official Sólstafir Wordpress.
The long statement regards Gummi's absence since January ahead of the beginning of the group's tour in support of their latest album, 2014's "Ótta", and subsequent disputes with the remaining members, specifically the actions of frontman and co-founding member Aðalbjörn "Addi" Tryggvason, who has allegedly attempted to patent all rights to the band's name and imagery under his name and his name alone as well as refused royalties to Gummi from all sales of merchandise and records sold on the tour, which Gummi had helped finance.
The band has since, through their manager in Stockholm, posted a counter-statement alleging that Gummi's claims are of "anger, bitterness, and seemingly spite" in order to discredit the band, while at the same time stating that the band holds no ill feelings towards him and intend to pay him what they deem to be a fair share. The group will continue as a 3-piece with session drummers performing with the band for the foreseeable future.
