Slayer prepare new album

Slayer have set September 11 as the release date for their forthcoming album, Repentless.

Set to feature previously released tracks 'Implode', and 'When the Stillness Comes', Repentless is the first Slayer album to feature guitarist Gary Holt. Longtime producer Rick Rubin has also been replaced in favour of Terry Date (Pantera).

Well at least it'll have good production.

Well I'd have to say that's probably down to the band themselves considering the work Terry Date normally does.

Implode actually sounds nice.
Maybe this won't be shit.

Slayer has never had good production. Why would you expect this to be any different?

Reign in Blood had awesome production though, it holds up better than other thrash albums from 86.

Rick Rubin used to be a good producer like 30 years ago but has deteriorated a lot over time. I was hoping that with a new producer for the first time in Terry Date (who has a proven track record of great producing with bands like Deftones), they'd have a well produced album but obviously if you're a band the size of Slayer you can overrule the producer in certain aspects.

Also apparently the album version of Implode will be re-recorded so I suspect that the version that was released was a much rougher mix.

Apparently if you have the 45rpm vinyl of When The Stillness Comes and play it on your record player at 33rpm it sounds much better, like a doom metal song.

Well this summer is when release dates get standardized to Friday internationally. And September 11 is a Friday so there's got to be SOME albums coming out that day.

http://consequenceofsound.net/2015/03/beginning-july-10th-new-albums-will-be-released-on-fridays-and-not-tuesdays/ proof. So Slayer won't be the only band releasing stuff on September 11, don't get mad at them, it's just a date on the calender.

Seems like they'd wanna avoid that date given what happened with their release of God Hates Us All

the 9/11 is edgy enough to be kinda brutal but i wish it were a band more likely to put something interesting out

Not really, it seems kinda like they are trying too hard to evoke a reaction. Makes it more stupid if anything.

Albums is going to be shit anyways so really who cares

Even if WPB is considered decent, they're now missing Hanneman's writing, who penned pretty much all of their most famous songs.

What people are saying about the release date are pretty much right, though hopefully Slayer aren't choosing it on purpose just to be edgy. In any case the album'll probably be decent or mediocre.

Agreed Hawks, I think the same can pretty much be said for all of the big 4
