New single from The Go! Team 2015-02-11 by bluesparrow | 1 Comments | The Go! Team have released 'Blowtorch', the second single from their upcoming album The Scene Between, due out in March.
In a press release bandleader Ian Parton said
"I wrote 'Blowtorch' on an acoustic but when it came to the recording I had the idea of building it from chords from loads of different sources, so say the G chord was a second sample from one song, the D chord from totally different kind of song and it went on - the process of layering all these turned it into a wall of sound. Combined with vocals from Sudden Ensemble and Vinyl Tiger’s singer Doreen Kirchner it became this kinda bratty, super melodic thing."

Parton has also announced the band's first live show in four years; they will be playing at London's Village Underground on 17 June, with tickets available from 12 February. The band's line-up has changed, with Simone Odaranile, Cheryl Pinero and Maki replacing Chi, Kaori and Jamie. Ian, Ninja and Sam all remain.

The album's really starting to take on an interesting shape, it really does sound like a mixture of Thunder, Lightning, Strike and Rolling Blackouts. At the same time though it sounds a little bit harsher? And for me the jury is still out on the whole varying the production style within the track thing. Anyway, it's making things interesting.
