Benga Retires

2014-02-03 by anarchistfish | 20 Comments
British dubstep producer/DJ Benga has announced his decision to quit the music industry to
focus on starting a family.

A post on his official Facebook page reads:

im engage to Holly-Jae Treadgold the love of my life, my djing career is finished i
just wanna start a family. big up to all my real supporters its been a lovely time

Benga released his 3rd album, Chapter II, last year, but will probably be most
remembered for 2008's Diary of an Afro Warrior.

I mean judging by his recent output it's good he called it quits instead of going even further downhill

but still RIP man was incredible when he was on

Diary of an Afro Warrior was alright. Sucks that he's retiring.

Diary of an Afro Warrior is fucking amazing IMO, easily one of my favorite dubstep full-lengths. But I definitely wouldn't say it sucks that he's retiring, I lost interest in his output ages ago and it's a good sign of his priorities that he's quitting to be a family man - best of luck to him.

I liked Diary of an Afro Warrior too. All I can say is "Cheers!", because life is full of endings through changes.

Can't believe Afro Warrior doesn't have a review, I might have to change that eventually because it definitely deserves one.

Quitting Dj'ing doesn't imply that he's retiring, he could still produce (as in, just not traveling away from home)

At the end of the day though no one has fallen off quite like Benga, so sadly it's good riddance

I suppose that's true, though I think it does kind of sound as though he's ready to move on from a music career.

Nice dig BTW, I'm hoping to have a review up for that soon.

Well yeah it could be that he is actually officially retiring, God knows Benga has a hard time reaching the point of any conversation - seriously, watch any recent interview with him. Nothing he says makes a single lick of sense in regards to the questions he's being asked

It wasn't very clear... But the way everyone reacted, even people like his friend Skream, was as if this were an all round thing

Yeah, not too bummed about this news tbh.

His early stuff was really good tho.

I feel like it'd be different for a DJ, he could probably do a local show here and there. You don't really need to rehearse with a band or anything haha.

Also, his grammar lol
