Silverchair, releasing their 5th full length in their young career and their first since 2002's Diorama, set a release date for Young Modern. The release date is March 31st in Australia. They also released the tracklist, which reads as follows:

1. Young Modern Station
2. Straight Lines
3. If You Keep Losing Sleep
4. Reflections of a Sound
5. Those Thieving Birds (Part 1)
6. Strange Behaviour
7. Those Thieving Birds (Part 2)
8. The Man That Knew Too Much
9. Waiting All Day
10. Mindreader
11. Low
12. Insomnia
13. All Across the World

5/12 tracks feature orchestral arrangements by Van Dyke Parks, who has played a role in Silverchair's music for years at this point. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra performed the arrangements.

The album's first single is Straight Lines, which can now be heard around the Internet and on the radio. The hard copy of the single comes out March 10th.

Straight Lines is the best single release of the year so far, totally flawless.

Straight Lines was like listening to a Nickleback song. It just sucked that much compared to their previous albums.

Straight Lines is slightly irritating because it sounds like it wants to get big for the whole song, and never does.

Still, it's better than anything from Frogstomp or Freak Show.

Yeah, I wish the climax of the song was bigger, but it is definitely catchy and much much better than a Nickelback song.

I always laugh when i hear Silverchair. My cousin used to have a crappy garage band called Silverchain, which they changed to Silverchair, and then they found out that they couldn't enter a battle of the bands cause they were using an "unoriginal" band name. This is quite a story where you need to be there.
