New James LaBrie album

2013-06-05 by tempest-- | 23 Comments
Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie has announced details about his upcoming solo album, titled Impermanent Resonance, due for release July 29th in Europe and August 6th in North America via InsideOutMusic.

Impermanent Resonance was mixed and mastered at Sweden's Fascination Street recording studios by Jens Bogren and Tony Lindgren, and features artwork by Gustavo Sazes (Arch Enemy, Firewind, Kamelot), capturing and translating the intense album's atmosphere.

LaBrie comments on the new album:
"To me this album incorporates and continues with the styles and musical direction that we have created with the previous releases. The difference being that the music on this disc is to me a true telling of the songs evolving and taking on a sense of identity that is every band's ultimate goal. It is powerful, memorable, hook-driven and above all extremely musical. It shows how the writing and the band itself have matured. I truly feel that this is our quintessential album."

Track titles confirmed so far are 'Agony', 'Back on the Ground', 'Undertow', 'I Got You' and 'Amnesia'.

Well this should be a fun listen, the usual "this is our best album" claims. Artwork is pretty sweet though.

artwork's getting me excited lol His last album was actually pretty good, looking forward to this.

Are the bandmembers the same as on Static Impulse?

I like LaBrie's solo work, so this should be a good one.

Yes, all the same band members (Marco Sfogli on guitar, Ray Riendeau on bass and Peter Wildoer on drums).
Matt Guillory, LaBrie's songwriting partner, also plays keyboards and backing vocals on the album, and former Soilwork guitarist Peter Wichers has songwriting and guitar recording contributions.

Looking forward to this! Static Impulse has some great songwriting and LaBrie gave a solid performance.

Not a massive fan of the artwork though, it looks a bit cheap and rushed and seems quite similar to Static (intentional?). Maybe it'll grow on me.

> dude is so irrelevant I can't even hate him anymore

All aboard the bandwagon everyone!

No seriously, LaBrie's solo's are usually really good - I can't wait for this

I dont really like his voice that much but I loved Static Impulse so Ill have to check this out. Plus I want to know if Peter Wichers still has the chops.

I love his solo albums...the screams on static impulse kind of bugged me, I hope they're a bit better this time. (if they use them again)

Hopefully he tours again for this one. I was gonna catch the tour last time but it was cancelled

Don't use 4chan - this is just a lot easier than quotation marks

I like Static Impulse, hope this continues in the same vein. The similar album art has my hopes up.

I never liked this guy's voice. Weakest aspect of Dream Theater IMO.

Album art looks like it would be an in flames album cover.

I hate his voice in DT, but I didn't know he did solo stuff. Maybe I'll like this better.

His being un-cool has somehow saved him from the late DT crappy material

LaBrie really likes men in business suits on his album covers.

As much as I love DT, I have to say his voice is more suited for his solo material. Check out Static
Impulse. One More Time is a good showcase of his vocals (and no, that is not Labrie screaming)
