trve emo is a hardcore subgenre too actually, i'm guessing you've probs only heard the twinkly stuff tho which tends to be closer to indie rock. but yeah bands like moss icon and rites of spring are emo and they have a toooon of hardcore influence

of course midwestern emo (sunny day real estate, jimmy eat world (apparently?) and braid) isnt very hardcore at all, but thats a different can of worms
