Since when is fall out boy pop punk?
| |
jockstrap are you for real?
| |
No I'm part of your imagination. I always thought they fell under the alternative category but fuck me for asking
| |
i'm sorry
it's just that you keep saying these amazingly retarded things and it baffles my mind!
| |
Can always trust them for a cool music video but album's shaping up to suck, sadly
| |
video's great, this is a really good Patrick Stump solo song but I can't call it a Fall Out Boy song
| |
That was a great fucking song. Doesn't sound like something that would come from Fall Out Boy though.
| |
this song's boring as shit. even more so than their last single. i expect the very highest i'll be giving this album is 2.5, unfortunately. oh, well. what else should i expect from a band who's reuniting for money?
also, @J0ckstrapsFTW, they were pop punk back during their first two or three albums, but they've been largely pop rock since infinity on high.
| |
and with the second single the hope of return to form is erased[2]
| |
That was a great fucking song. Doesn't sound like something that would come from Fall Out Boy though.
Dafuq. Are you joking.
| |
Infinity on high is sweet.
| |
"and with the second single the hope of return to form is erased" [3]
| |
And I remember people complaining about them selling out and going mainstream with Under the Cork Tree...dear god
| |
Cork Tree sucks.
| |
Cork Tree sucks.
Um... What?
| |
Infinity and Grave >
| |
Big Sean, Elton John and Courtney Love colabs on their new album, no thanks.
| |
Cork tree was their best.
| |
Pat's definitely taking the reigns on this album with such strong vocal performances. Also listen to this song with a good pair of headphones, it makes a pretty big difference.
| |
FOB have a history of releasing their very worst songs as singles, so not all hope is lost.
| |
i digged cork tree when i was younger, but this doesn't even sound FOB
| |
and with the second single the hope of return to form is erased (2)
did not like this at all
| |
wow this is awful
can really hear the butch walker shining through
| |
song is fucking awesome, better then the last one.
| |
love both fuck you all
| |
Band sucks dick
| |
the "hiatus" was a publicity stunt. now they're just whoring themselves out even more.
| |
Kinda boring.
| |
Eww my ears feel shitty
| |
Well. The verses are okay.
| |
um new sevendust in 320 so metal up ur fat ass
| |
that fucking sucked. goodbye crunchy guitar hello synth shit
| |
that fucking sucked. goodbye crunchy guitar hello synth shit.
| |
They've used orchestral stuff before in Thnks Fr Th Mmrs. I like this song though. It's dancy but still aggressive.
| |
3/5
| |
Don't you guys understand what the music and the video is trying to say?
Rock N Roll is dying. Rap, Hip-Hop, Dubstep and other genres are destroying it! What it means is that not much people listen to Rock N Roll! That's why Fall Out Boy's album is titled "Save Rock N Roll"!
| |
this is fucking terrible
| |
You're all idiots.
| |
They're trying to "save" rock n roll by sounding the furthest from it that they ever have?
| |
sucks
| |
um kris....fall out boy are not punk at all. Sorry to tell you
| |
This band is killing rock & roll
| |
sweet, patrick stump is putting out a new record. I liked soul punk a lot
| |
god Patrick's voice is epic...but the song not so much
| |
Yeah not so punk but just plain pop. Though I will agree that Patty Wagon is slaying.
| |
his voice sounds good in the first verse or two
but the song sucks
| |
holy shit this sucks goddamn
they're even bigger radio hoes this time around!
| |
Wow the music video isn't three times longer than the song for once...
The vocals are good by why is the music this synthesized radio pop bullshit again? I thought the album was called Save Rock and Roll or some shit.
| |
it's auto-tuned to hell and back. weeeeeeeeak!
| |
shit
| |
At least its better that "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark"
| |
Saying this sounds like Patrick Stump's solo stuff is just proving to me that people pay way too much attention to the vocalists of bands. Yes, he has adopted the Michael Jackson influenced style permanently. No, the music itself does not sound like his solo stuff. If you think it does, you need a fucking musical education.
This is also proof that people know nothing about production. I'm willing to bet you don't so much hate the music as you hate how it's produced. Yes, the drums- particularly that kick- are very loud and very heavy in the mix. I would mix it differently, but this song is not synth pop like Stump's work just because you singled in on his voice and the kick drum.
That said, feel free to still hate it. It's just not like his solo work.
| |
^^^i'm only saying that cuz I'm hearing what i heard on soul punk.
| |
song was awesome
| |
Talk about ironic album titles...
| |
Hey CutMan, who are you??
| |
oh my that was horrendous
| |
What's wrong with Elton John?
| |
"elton john, big sean, and courtney love on a comeback fob album?"
yeah, I heard about this. lol why? why would they do this?
| |
patrick just rejoined to have a successful platform to make his solo music under the fall out boy name and the other members are just sorta there for the rest of the cash. [2]
| |
Because its Elton fucking John.
| |
Who am I? Uhm. A guy with an internet connection. I'm not sure what you want to know.
Also, I'd just like to reiterate something: This IS different, so if you hate it, that's cool. I'm just anal about technical details, so when people complain about something that isn't true, I get OCD. (Some of you have likely seen me do this in other threads.)
| |
this isn't even close to being pop-punk lol.
| |
Cork Tree is this band
| |
Do you guys really think this is a bad song? Like I dont think it sounds like old FOB but I do think it's a genuinely good
song.
| |
had potential at the start... Turned out meh. Take this to your grave was good.
| |
love both [singles] fuck you all [2]
| |
Infinity on High was my jam back in the day. This isn't that good.
| |
Like I said, his vocals are the best, everything else lets it down.
| |
I'm sorry your hearing is so bad, you should get that checked, andcas.
| |
yea this sounds like soul punk. cutman are you saying this sounds like NOTHING from soul punk at all? if so you are clearly in denial to an extent. i mean that like saying this sound like ANY other fob song from any other album. the kik that you pointed out sounds soo midi kick beat its terrible.
| |
Still to this day I struggle with the concept that this is the same band who put out TTTYG and Cork Tree. All for bands changing over time but this shit is fucking straight up WACK. Big Sean and Courtney Love???
*sigh*
| |
Soul Punk would never have had that guitar riff in the chorus- or in the verses, for that matter-, it would never be... The closest you get to this is "Explode". But even that is FAR more reliant on pop synth and sounds. It's just not the same style.
You people can't differentiate for shit. Yes, he brought some of what he did in his solo stuff to this. No, it doesn't sound just like his solo stuff. And, no, I'm not saying this sounds like old FOB. I'm just saying it doesn't sound just like Stump's solo stuff. For God's sake.
| |
This grows on you. Didn't like it much first but now I do after a few listened. He's an awesome vocalist, I just wish there was a bit more prominent guitar work.
| |
Yeah, I wish the guitar was less buried in the mix. I don't like the mix very much at all. The song itself is pretty killer, but.... Oh well.
| |
I couldn't make it through that, horrible song. I can't believe how many of my friends got excited over this reunion shit...
| |
Okay. Seriously. Explain to me why this song is so bad?
andcas, in particular, if you wouldn't mind explaining, that'd be great. But I'd love to hear from anyone.
| |
The song is unreasonably angry, it makes his usually good voice unusually annoying. Everything is overproduced. The use of strings doesn't really add to the song except make it more melodramatic. The chorus isn't so bad, but it's really generic.
| |
plus it sounds nothing like fob...
| |
Kind of digging his vocal style on this. Never really been a fan of these guys though.
Song was pretty alright on first listen.
| |
"programmed". ....Right.
| |
I kind of like Phoenix. I wasn't a fan of the last single though.
| |
Har har. But, seriously, you don't know what "programmed" means.
| |
New Paramore will be significantly better than this.
| |
1) You can make a drum kit sound like that. Easily. If these are "programmed", then most drums are "programmed".
2) If you have an issue with recording an orchestra and some percussive sounds, some synth bits/hits for good measure, to arrange and edit through out your song however you want... We are very different people. And I frankly consider that mindset the enemy of creativity.
3) There is guitar in this song, and if you can't hear it, your ears are broken or you listen to music on shitty speakers or through shit headphones/earbuds. It is in the verses, it is in the chorus, it is in the bridge.
4) You can't make out the bass. Welcome to most mainstream music.
| |
Band has always been abysmal. And this song is not the exception
| |
You can keep disliking it. You don't like it. That's cool. But you don't need to claim they're "programmed" "beats", and other random crap. You don't even need a reason, dude.
Look at NapalmCrusader. He just hates it. He's not claiming it's all "programmed" "beats". And Cygnatti up there listed his reasons and... they're all mostly just how he feels, I get it. But for the grace of God I like the new sound. I could easily hate it, too. It's all preference.
| |
His voice sounds more mature. Other than that, it's okay.
| |
That's what I was saying. It's how you feel. And that's cool.
The Courtney Love guest feature worries me a lot. Elton John doesn't, and I reserve judgment on the Big Sean thing, they've had rappers appear in songs before.
| |
Someone forgot about Lil Waaaaaaaaayne.
| |
l'waaayyynnne
| |
See, I love that song. And Folie A Deux is my favorite FOB album. This is where our opinions part so intensely, I think. (Mine's not a popular opinion, really.)
Why do you hate that song and how do you feel about that album?
| |
Did you feel the album was too pop, or? See, I felt the more they became a pop rock band who brought in other influences, the better they got.
| |
Oh God. You're a pop punk kid, aren't you?
| |
folie a deux is my favorite too. and i'm gonna like this record too i believe.
| |
You and me, tmagistrelli, we're bros, now.
| |
folie>from under>grave>infinity>evening out
| |
@andcas, I define pop punk kids as people who think way too much of the genre, often due to nostalgia. And you are one hell of a nostalgic dude, I'm noticing. And lookit you, flaunting majority opinion like it's some kind of plus.
@tmagstrelli, I like your list.
| |
don't shoot down andcas. i mean pop punk is always a nostalgia trip
| |
Oh, it is for me, too, man. Don't get me wrong. Nothing wrong with nostalgia, as long as it doesn't blind you. I'M a VERY nostalgic person.
| |
Also, to be clear, andcas, I'm a pretty antagonistic guy sometimes, but I don't mean any personal attacks. You're a cool dude who I happen to disagree with. *thumbs up*
| |
On this note, what's your favorite Take This To Your Grave track? I'd just like to say, "The Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes" is such a good song. Such a good song. I also always loved "Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash (Wish You Were Here)"...
| |
You kinda HAVE to like "Calm Before The Storm". "Chicago Is So Two Years Ago" is good, too. I love the fact that Justin Pierre is in there.
| |
