meh. why the keys instead of their good old guitars? whenever they switch to just guitars it's much better. the keys sound like a-ha.

im more of a fan of the guitar-driven stuff too but I'm ok with occasional synths. and i thought the last album was their most mature and it had some nice variation of styles.

As a huge Strokes fan I am not afraid to admit that I really enjoy/like this song. I'm also not afraid to admit that the song itself is forgettable/mediocre and if it were released by a band I didn't give a shit about I wouldn't have even given it a second listen. Hopefully "All The Time" that the radio station in Seattle claims to have is better than this.

Is this it is so overrated ugh. Okay I mean it established their sound and it is probably their second best album but Angles is way more entertaining.

Angles is easily their worst album. There are only 3 or 4 songs on that album that don't sound completely half-assed and boring.

Really strange to hear Jules (yes I'm almost gay for this band/dude) using his falsetto. Catchy sound but Idk how much I will enjoy it eventually. Glad to see them back though!

I really did not enjoy this song, but that's because I just want to hear Albert and Nick jam out on the guitar while Julian sings about whatever- that dynamic is what attracted me in the first place. I dont mind them tweaking their sound, I loved Angles, but this song just sounds boring.

This is just my opinion though.

Sooooo...are these guys just gonna put out an album, do a couple of festival dates and then disappear for another couple of years, like always?

"Sooooo...are these guys just gonna put out an album, do a couple of festival dates and then disappear for another couple of years, like always?"

You're logic makes no sense at all. They've put out four albums, for three of them they went on full tours before beginning work on follow ups. So by your logic, doing something a certain way 25% of the time means that it's what you always do? That's stupid man.

Very different, but I am liking it. Their last album hinted that they were trying new things.

That was actually a very interesting mix. It started out like it was trying to almost sound bad, or amateurish. Especially with the first verse vocals. But the rest of the song was very dynamic, and sounded fresh and amazing. I especially liked how the bass was suddenly accented with crazy amounts of low end EQ in the last 30 seconds of the song. I can't think of a song that I have ever heard something like that in before. This song just keeps you off guard through the whole thing, and Julian, as usual, has come up with some amazing melodies and an equally dynamic performance as this unique mix.

I think their first three albums are all great, and like what I've heard of Angles, but holy shit this just sounds pathetic to me.

It'd be an alright track from some new, naive band who didn't quite know how to play or record very well but as a Strokes song I can't dig or defend this in the slightest. I anticipate a shitty, shitty album

If the whole song sounded more like that "You asked me to stay" part it would be great and would have fit right in on Is This It or Room On Fire. As it is now though it sounds like something Julian would have recorded for his solo album.

very meh. and coming from someone close to fanboy status with these guys. the riff is catchy enough, but it sounds like something average from Julians solo albumand he should not be singing in that voice on a strokes record.

I actually really, really dig this. It's fantastic, and Julian's singing is awesome. What does it matter that the leads are
played on keys? They still maintain the quirky, tight sound they've always had but there's something extra in the mix
now. Even if this weren't The Strokes, I'd still dig it

If the lead part was being played on guitar instead of synth I think it'd sound a lot better, don't really understand why they did that..

Pretty fucking bad. But i am not suprised

The Strokes were never a good band i feel. The first album was pure gold of course, i love it, but they don't have more to offer than this sound. Every time they try to tweak their sound it sounds a bit worse then before.

Casablancas is the only really talented musician(and even he is kinda 1 dimensional he writes very similiar songs and just puts them in diffrent dresses (poppy or garage rocky) all of the other guys are just decent at playing their instrument and when they get to do the songwriting it all goes downhill.
