suck it lars
|
| |
If they seriously need any more money, then they're worse with investments than they are at writing music these days.
|
| |
On a scale of 1 to 10, I wasn't quite sure this band was still relevant.
|
| |
LOL (2)
|
| |
good get a job god damn hippies
|
| |
This is what happens when you allow Bullet For My Valentine to take your place in the big 4 of Thrash Metal.
|
| |
Bands haven't been getting royalties for decades. My dad works with the drummer from the Kingsmen, Lynn Easton (known for the hit Louie Louie) and he has heard his songs being played everywhere for decades (including the famous scene from Animal House) without him being compensated.
Nevertheless, Metallica is probably still making bank off of those tours or they wouldn't get involved with music anymore.
|
| |
awwwwwwww
|
| |
"Metallica are not making money"
well... duh
|
| |
METALLICAKID96 WITH A SOUL-CRUSHING TRUTH
AND ITS ONLY HIS FIRST COMMENT
|
| |
hoping 96 is a typo of 69 and not the year of this birth
|
| |
James Hetfield would do a good job packing Big Macs.

|
| |
coneren wants my penis
|
| |
cuz his hurts too much
|
| |
i love this news article because metallica sucks
|
| |
Because, I don't make monkeys I just train em
|
| |
lol sweet
|
| |
They're idiots they've been around 30+ years hit the peak of their popularity awhile ago duh they're not going to be able to live off royalty checks if they're spending more than they're making.
Gene Simmons rules though guys amirite?
|
| |
Wait what's wrong with the kid being born in 96? Makes him 16 which isn't that young.
Also, news isn't that surprising although kinda disconcerting that even a band as big as Metallica are like this...ish. They're used to living fairly lavishly, so what they earn is still probably similar to a high paying job. Imagine being able to take two years off work hahaha fuck off
|
| |
stupid fucks.
|
| |
@captain you sound offended. are you 16?
|
| |
No I'm not offended, just perplexed.
Edit: nvm, obvious troll
|
| |
I always find it odd how news articles are where butthurt new members crawl out of the cracks- never to return again.
|
| |
there's actually nothing wrong with being 16, i always thought advertising that in your username was a little strange though.
but yeah lol new members
|
| |
So in other words, they're going to have a reality show pretty soon.
|
| |
"So in other words, they're going to have a reality show pretty soon."
Probably within a year.
|
| |
what a funny news article, go figure this is what they garner nowadays
|
| |
id watch it.
|
| |
This makes me feel awesome about just paying $144 to see them.
|
| |
you should feel like a worthless piece of shit
|
| |
good get a job god damn hippies [2]
Their time was 26 years ago anyway who gaf
|
| |
Yeah, Lulu was going to earn them millions...
|
| |
nice
|
| |
Metallica deserve no money nowadays anyway.
|
| |
Lars might have to cut down on the gold-plated toilet paper if this keeps up. Gasp.
|
| |
rip
|
| |
Awww... Poor Metallica. I guess Lars is just going to have sell his private jet full of expensive art.
He'll probably sue Mediafire for the 2(or less) illegal downloads of Lulu.
|
| |
Thats funny. What did they expect putting out insanely weak albums . What you sow is what you reap
|
| |
Lars Ulrich and Co. can take this news item and stuff it up their asses.
After all, it was the "bad" Napster that cut revenue from bands and not the insanely unjust copyright laws of record labels which entitled them copyright rights and loyalties for 98 years or more.
Dear Lars, watch now Electra Records (among other record labels) live off your music for the next 30 years (at least) due to copyright royalties.
Revenge is a dish which is best served cold.
|
| |
It was obvious, they didnt make a worth-buying album since 1991.
|
| |
This is not related to them not having a decent record since 1991, it is related to the copyright laws which are more and more in favor of record labels, as the years go by.
If old contracts gave royalties to bands for let's say 10 years, that temporal interval for new contracts may be 1-2 years tops.
|
| |
^
Agreed, but the major problem is the illegal download.
I respect the artist copyright and buy all my music.
All dudes should do that.
|
| |
Are you trying to say people DIDN'T buy Lulu!?
...I don't believe it!
|
| |
lol, maybe they will release an album every 2/3 years instead of 5 / 7 years....
|
| |
but the major problem is the illegal download
The conclusion of many scientific studies in the field is that this is not a black-or-white issue.
However, I agree with you about buying music and in that musicians should be further encouraged to distribute their music on their own and not with the "aid" of middlemen.
|
| |
Well I didn't, but how many Lulu's were sold? 500.000,600.000?
These dudes have huge expenses (big houses, cars,etc..)
Back in the days a major rock band sold 3/4/5.000.0000 copies.
Even the 2nd league bands usually sold more than 500.000 copies.
Not easy to have a good life making music nowadays.
|
| |
I'll admit that I download like a trooper, but as a musician myself, most of the money I earn still goes into music whether it is attending live shows or buying a shit ton of CD's.
|
| |
ulrich might have to stop recording himself slapping his dick on his snare and actually play drums on the next album... it's a crying shame, what's happened to this world.
|
| |
well what the fuck do you expect when you release 5 shitty albums in the space of 20 years
|
| |
Spell cheque right you fucking cave men.
|
| |
If they stop making shitty albums then they wouldn't be in this mess.
|
| |
What a shame this is.
|
| |
It's not a secret that the bands are not making big money via their record sales. Instead they are making huge profits via their tours. Thus the losses are oversubscribed.
|
| |
The Death Magnetic tour yielded 54.000.000 to Metallica. More than enough to keep them ongoing.Their brand name will be their solution for many years yet to come.
|
| |
Next up, Lars posts his email address so you can send money via paypal.
|
| |
Haha, they deserve it, especially Lars.
|
| |
Lars posts his email address so you can send money via paypal
nah Lars doesn't need paypal money, he recently started his career in movie acting.
|
| |
Maybe they should put out albums that are actually good before starting to complain about album sales
|
| |
"nah Lars doesn't need paypal money, he recently started his career in movie acting."
That will be the most inconvenient thing Lars could do.
|
| |
He did it already Ty.
|
| |
wow they're one of the most famous and commercially successful bands of all time. i hightly doubt they're in too much crisis.
|
| |
bands outdated
|
| |
Maybe they'd be making money if they didn't, y'know, spend it all on their own studio and such lavish stage shows, and released an album more than once every four or five years.
|
| |
They actually are making money, but I'm sure they'll appreciate your advice.
|
| |
Cool, fuck these guys
|
| |
Metallica *is not making money
|
| |
They still have no idea of how the common working man earns a respectable income. 54000000 dollars from the Death Magnetic tour is rather a lot of money. I'd be happy to trade places with them so they can see how the other half live.
Spoilt fucking brats.
|
| |
oh man they can't take 2 years off work to do fuck all and now can only take a couple months.
did anyone else think of the south park with lars ulrich?
|
| |
I actually thought in this video, when I saw this news, I'm a little bit surprised that the one that is talking is Kirk and not Lars
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS6udST6lbE
|
| |
At first I thought this said "Metallica are not making music." I'm disappointed with the actual title now.
|
| |
Free music for life!

In other news, there are still starving children in Africa
|
| |
YES, the South Park episode.
|
| |
So in other words, they're going to have a reality show pretty soon.
I'd watch the fuck out of that. James would eat all of Lars' yogurts and then Lars would be like "fuck you man, you didn't pay for those you are so fucking sued"
I hope Megadeth isn't making money either so they can throw Mustain in.
|
| |
i guess i could spare a few bucks to send these guys they need it more than i do
|
| |
as long as my money helps them to continue putting out quality material im ok with it
|
| |
"YES, the South Park episode."
First thing I thought when I saw "metallica aren't making money"
|
| |
RIP
|
| |
Reminds me of that one South Park episode
Where Lars Ulrich had no money
|
| |
Lol they're so lazy and unconscious of how lucky they are. Fuck them
|
| |
Yeah that was a good episode.
|
| |
The average American makes around $40,000 a year. They have sold millions upon millions of albums. They can suck the fucking dicks of every working class man.
|
| |
Their last album was an atrocious piece of shit, are they really surprised no one is buying/playing it?
|
| |
how the Metallica boys aren't filthy rich, not even having to worry about money anymore is beyond me.
|
| |
Honestly this reminds me of that episode of South Park about piracy. When they're going through a bunch of celebrities' houses and explaining why piracy is bad
|
| |
time to sign a reality show. next stop, rock bottom.
|
| |
What the Metallica brand isn't selling with the youth anymore. lol. Sure is hell was not the music of the last two decades. What marketing scheme haven't they tried.
|
| |
Who gives a fuck jamming some RtL now
|
| |
"Bands haven't been getting royalties for decades. My dad works with the drummer from the Kingsmen, Lynn Easton (known for the hit Louie Louie) and he has heard his songs being played everywhere for decades (including the famous scene from Animal House) without him being compensated."
That's probably because he is the drummer and you don't get paid shit if you didn't write the song?
CMIIW
|
| |
lol
|
| |
these fags probably make enough money from t shirt and poster sales and all that kind of stuff to live a solid lifestyle. ugh
|
| |
I'd watch the fuck out of that. James would eat all of Lars' yogurts and then Lars would be like "fuck you man, you didn't pay for those you are so fucking sued"
I hope Megadeth isn't making money either so they can throw Mustain in.
He would definitely be the wacky neighbor.
|
| |
oh man they can't take 2 years off work to do fuck all and now can only take a couple months.
thought the same thing. what poor souls having to work consistently for a living.
|
| |
fuckin hippies
|
| |
they'll always make money off touring, regardless
|
| |
Yeah i guess all the money they make off of touring and merch must just have them scraping a living. Poor bastards and here i am with a job to go too and a fuck load of bills to pay, my heart bleeds for them it really does
|
| |
Lars is a class A cunt.
|
| |
Sounds like a falling empire! but seriously if you are carrying the title of the top selling metal band in the world (if not counting Led Zeppelin) you have to lead as an example to other bands, but Metallica in pass 20 yrs was nothing but a shame that metal world couldn't forget!
|
| |
'Guys i don't wanna freak you out, but we might have to play gigs!'
'What?! No way we swore, never again'
Your in a band!!
|
| |
they keep paying me though
|
| |
"In other news, there are still starving children in Africa"
Link?
|
| |
Please retire.
|
| |
Didn't you read the article? They clearly can't afford to retire!
|
| |
Wow, sucks to be them. I don't know what I'd do if I had to fucking do actual work for a living to support my one-percent-as-fuck way of life.
Because seriously, a life without being paid obscene amounts of money for doing things I pretend to have any actual fucking passion about is just not worth living.
Fuck you Metallica, way to completely cement the level of scumbaggery that you embody into the world at large.
|
| |
You're not allowed to take 2 years off your job anymore?
I FEEL SO BAD FOR YOU.
|
| |
Metallicry
|
| |
Maybe if they would put out an album that was worth buying they could make money.
|
| |
i can barely even listen to these guys anymore
|
| |
ahahahahaha
|
| |
Well the first 4 albums still outweigh everything that happened afterwards for me at least I can say that much.
|
| |
shit band
|
| |
well, what else can you expect from making an endless row of crap albums
|
| |
But they're all millionaires anyways
|
| |
Money means nothing, they haven't been good for 10+ years
|
| |
Did they think teaming with wastoid Lou Reed was going to help put money in their pocket?
Maybe Kirk would make more money if he took some lessons from a good player.
Maybe if Lars had some chops, if their albums didn't reek, if they hadn't destroyed any remaining mystique with that fruity documentary of pussies...
|
| |
rip
|
| |
"Is there anyone from the pre-Napster days that hates this band? I feel like these faggots haters are just mad because they wanted free music."
Excuse me, built this doesn't make any sense at all.
It's like hating Brad Pitt because you are screwing Angelina Jolie.
|
| |
"If they seriously need any more money, then they're worse with investments than they are at writing music these days."
Yeah, this.
|
| |
Seriously, fuck Metallica. They've been bitching about not receiving their proper "investment" for years now, but those guys are THE most successful metal band around. They have enough money to last their greedy, sellout asses till their death-day, and then some. Fuck them.
|
| |
lol
|
| |
Don't be fooled. When they say they are running low on money, they mean they can only have a few $50,000 sport cars. They can only do a kilo a coke a day now and they might have to sell one of their 20 mansions.
|
| |
"$50,000 sport cars"
Not much of a car guy are you?
|
| |
I was making the point that they would have to downgrade to a cheaper car smart ass. Guess it went
over your head.
|
| |
*Metallica are making less money
Fixed
Alternate title suggestion:
Surprise surprise the music industry is changing
or
Metallica unable maintain lifestyle of choice due to inability to diversify
What the fuck are these assholes doing with their money? Don't they have investments and shit to subsidize and prepare for their eventual retirement? I want to know who their money man is because he clearly isn't doing his job.
|
| |
Money man = accountant
|
| |
"they mean they can only have a few $50,000 sport cars. "
"I was making the point that they would have to downgrade to a cheaper car smart ass. Guess it went
over your head."
What you posted didn't reflect that at all as I read it. It could have gone over my head or your words simply didn't reflect your intent which I believe to probably be the case. I read it to mean they needed to downgrade by purchasing fewer and then you left a 1 off the beginning of your intended price point but not fewer AND cheaper.
When you were in school did you ever have to do that exercise where you had to write out directions on how to do something. Then you had to give those directions to someone and have them follow it. The intention being that you are never as clear as you think you are and you need to pay more attention to the intent you put into your written word. It think it's like a 6th grade exercise but I think it might benefit you.
|
| |
"Money man = accountant "
It can but not necessarily. EDIT: e.g. Wealth manager etc.
|
| |
You changed your comment from "No it doesnt" to "It can but not necessarily" LOL
You must have googled "accountant"
Anyway, hope you enjoyed typing that long comment because I didnt bother to read it as I'm sure it was
caked with sarcasm. You shouldnt be so concerned with how I worded something in a comment.
There are better ways to spend your time (like hitting a bong). If it were a review, I could
understand being critiqued, but it's just a silly comment on a Metallica thread. Get over it.
|
| |
Yes you did, you read it all you sexy little bitch you.
|
| |
Yeah I did read it. I read it more than once. That's how I knew it was caked with sarcasm.
|
| |
you guys are a bunch of shitty journalism enabling faggot retards if you think metallica are legitimately complaining here. seriously what a fucking dogshit article
also this thread is old as hell fyi
|
| |
Damn if it isnt...I just realized this is post dated in May. I blame "discovolante" for bumping this
and for making Omni and myself argue over trivial stuff.
|
| |
Agreed, fuck you discovolante fuck you strait to bumping old posts hell.
|
| |
That punishment isnt severe enough. I hereby condemn discovolante to be a groupie for an Asking
Alexandria cover band.
|
| |
