Metallica Recording Next Month

2006-12-06 by Jom | 18 Comments
Metallica has more than two-dozen song ideas for the follow-up to 2003's critically-unexalted St. Anger, and the band expects to begin recording next month. The as-of-yet untitled album from Warner Bros. will be produced by Rick Rubin, and a late summer/early fall release seems likely.

There is a supposed Photobucket containing photographs of the band rehearsing and writing new material in October 2006. To view these photos, some of which include James Hetfield with grey hair and Lars Ulrich wearing a sissy beaded necklace, follow this link:

Hopefully this new stuff will not be anything like St. Anger or that new song they played live in Europe that I saw on there website. St. Anger = worst metal album ever.

Man, when did James Hetfield start looking like a geezer?

I don't have high hopes for this album. I doubt they will revert back to their old days when they were awesome and I don't think they will do anything groundbreaking. I imagine they'll be churning out another turd for the masses to consume.

I was reading in an interview i think that they will be making songs sounding like the black album

I hope they go further back though to there roots and make some cool thrash songs

That is funny James doesn't play his own signature guitar.

After listening to their "other" new song, I'm predicting something along the lines of Kill'em All. It was thrash for sure. And Rick Rubin knows thrash ladies and gentlemen. Whereas Bob Rock knows...well, rock.
I was willing to let St. Anger slide. Afterall - I actually enjoyed alot of it :p
I'm predicting a solid 3.5 for their newie.

Well, on the plus side, after releasing an album like St Anger, they can only do better. I mean, James could fart into the microphone for 50 minutes and probably record something more listenable than St Anger.
That is funny James doesn't play his own signature guitar.
He does live on select songs. Can't wait for this record. BTW I'm fascinated with everyone's optimistic attitues towards this

As good as that sounds I doubt it. I have heard the songs too, but even though it was bad quality they didn't sound that great. They sounded faster than there recent stuff, but something was missing.

If they could get some godamn melody back maybe we can get something "Load-Quality", which ain't all that bad in my opinion.

That is funny James doesn't play his own signature guitar.

Very few guitarists with signature models actually play them.
