2006-02-13 by Oddsen | 16 Comments
After almost a year of recording and mixing with producer Rick Rubin, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have anounced their new album, Stadium Arcadium, will be released on May 9. During the recording sessions, they recorded 36 songs. Originally, they were going to release all of the songs on 3 seperate albums, but singer Anthony Kiedes decided by the time the 3rd album was released, they would already be writing new material, so the band decided to cut the song list down to around 25 put onto two cd's. The other 10 songs are said to be released as bonus tracks depending on where you buy the album. New songs include, Only 18, 21st century, Ready Made, Tell Me Baby, and said to be the first single, Dani California. The Red Hot Chili Pepper's website claims that they will tour first in Europe and have already released some tour dates in England which are scudualed to begin in July.

I hope it will be more Frusciante-driven in the vein of By the Way

This is really great news. Definitly looking forward to this album.

I dont see why the would just put all 36 tracks on a 2 disk set or something.

Somewhere I read that they described it as being more guitar driven and funk-oriented than the past two records, going back to a more Mothers Milk/ BSSM sound.

Hopefully, it will fill those shoes.

I got tickets to see them in Manchester in July and I cant wait. Disappointed by By The Way, and even if the new album sucks, they're still one of the best live bands in the world.
John Frusciante is the king

I don't think it'll be more pop than ever if the band itself is saying that they're returning to their roots.
I think that was stated in a previous article or on an online newsreel thing.
