|
| |
Seeing them on the 21st with Job for a Cowboy
|
| |
So I take it you are going for the second half of the show then?
|
| |
Well, there goes my night of productivity.
|
| |
YES.
|
| |
cool
|
| |
I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING TONIGHT LADIES AND GENTS
|
| |

|

How many boxes of condoms should I buy?
|
| |

|
| |
please waior dont review it we dont need another thesaurus masturbation session
album is fucking great
|
| |
"please waior dont review it we dont need another thesaurus masturbation session"
Well it goes well with the musical masturbation session...
alum sucks more cock than Chad Kroeger
|
| |
Less wanking and coherent riffing is always welcome. Damn Lunar Wilderness doesn't stream -_-
|
| |
progmaster you don't even have a face
|
| |
Ouch
|
| |
woo
|
| |
"album sucks more cock than Chad Kroeger"
says the kid who likes bfmv
|
| |
lunar wilderness is the best song on here
i do have a face, your mother likes it when it's between her legs
album is good but its no masterpiece like viva la vida
|
| |
"album? ep?"
WHO KNOWS, THAT'S THE FUN
|
| |
well this should be interesting
|
| |
lol this album is hardly a wankfest compared to TGM or Colors, but then that wouldnt really matter to you strider as you dont like btbam anyway. And Progmaster, Waior has toned down a lot on the thesaurus worship i dont know what your talking about haha.
|
| |
it would be interesting of metalsucks actually worked for me for once
|
| |
aghh! stream not working!
|
| |
the only thing waior has to tone down is his rating for coldplay
|
| |
Proggy made a mom joke lulz
|
| |
Will wait to have the album in proper hands because of my preorder -_-
|
| |
lulz
|
| |
progmaster makes a mum joke. The world sighs at the predicability of it.
|
| |
so far (one song in ) this is pretty damn good...the metal parts aren't as boring as they were in TGM and colors
|
| |
got it to work but it buffers literally every 2 seconds
|
| |
I'm supposed to be doing two essays right now, this just fucked any productivity that would've taken place.
|
| |
i fucked waiors mom in the butt
to lunar wilderness
|
| |
the heavy riffing is consistently more creative
colour me surprised
|
| |
You know I was mocking your Mom jokes right
|
| |
@cfbassist except the metal parts on both those albums aren't boring at all
|
| |
except the metal parts on both those albums aren't boring at all
colors lol
|
| |
i thought they were pretty meh, but i'm not that big of a metal guy
|
| |
waior's mom doesn't have a butt
she lost it in the war
the libyan war
|
| |
lol coldplay
|
| |
colors metal parts were a bit boring tbh.
|
| |
soooo good
|
| |
and waior stop digging your own album you fag
|
| |
Amazing album, anyone have lyrics?
Seeing them on the 21st too!
|
| |
"colors metal parts were a bit boring tbh."
except not though
their worst album besides their debut is prolly tgm
|
| |
Wrong
|
| |
right
|
| |
TGM was great too. Just a lot different from their other stuff. It just a matter of taste. God everyone saying Lunar Wilderness is the best track and I can't listen to it -_-
|
| |
Nein
|
| |
if any of their metal sections are boring its the ones on tgm, colors and the silent circus are the best
|
| |
All right Ken Burns
|
| |
123
|
| |
Great! Cue 10,000 album reviews! (With roughly 9,999 of them rating it a "5", and one "2" review that gets negged into oblivion).
I have mild expectations for this.
|
| |
Damn. Shame I'm in school right now. Can't wait to hear this at home.
|
| |
lol beauville its more like half the ratings are 5's and half are 1's.
|
| |
meh. sounds boring.
|
| |
fuk where are my tissues?
|
| |
Can't wait to listen to this soon.
|
| |
Lunar Wilderness is great. After an initial listen, I'd put it up there with Autodidact and Camilla Rhodes as one of my favorite BTBAM songs.
|
| |
i bet it sux
|
| |
colors lol
I was loving your comments so far, MacNuggets.
|
| |
macNuggets lol Baph.
|
| |
im pretty sure they're ripping themselves off in certain parts of the first track... some of it sounds exactly like swim to the moon. anyone? second song is awesome though.
|
| |
site took a long time to load ..and stream is choppy
|
| |
Just so all of you are aware, someone put these songs up on YouTube already. It's much easier to just listen to them there.
|
| |
ESSENCE IS ON THE JOB FOR THAT 2 REVIEW
i guess you could call this less wanky but you still can't call it good
i am delighted i can still call Tommy RoboChommyRogers a robot
|
| |
this don't look good
|
| |
came to comment on BTBAM but instead, after reading most of the comments, I choose to comment on progmaster (neutralthunder)
he's a dumbass
that is all
|
| |
its good
|
| |
Lunar Wilderness was the tits.
|
| |
i don't know.. it kind of bored me. i had it streaming and sometimes forgot what i was even listening to.
|
| |
good
one
|
| |
i thought so
|
| |
ahhhhh they're playing vancouver the same night as Menomena
decisions decisions decisions
fuck I should have seen these guys with PTH and In Flames when I had the chance...
|
| |
imo they should just ditch the heavy parts
|
| |
Just not feeling this as much as I thought it would. May bump to a 3.5 but I really think it's just that I'm tired of this band. Their technicality is failing to impress me anymore.
|
| |
Xeno - hahaha I know I laughed at that too
|
| |
Well, it impresses me but it doesn't captivate me.
|
| |
lolbtbam
|
| |
if their technicality fails to impress you then you must be quite a musician
|
| |
@FreePizza
much better
|
| |
ive come back to reemphasize how awsome this is despite the first track sounding exactly like swim to the moon except worse.
|
| |
The melodic portions are getting better with each release, to say something positive.
|
| |
just because it's really really hard to play doesn't necessarily make it impressive
it was impressive for the first 2, even 3 albums. then it was like "ok we get it, you guys are really good at your instruments, time for some song structure please"
I'm liking this so far though
|
| |
aids, how could you say that you are not impressed by songs like ants of the sky?
|
| |
That's a pretty valid point. I'm impressed that those huge polish guys can squat 600 lbs but I wouldn't sit there and watch him do it for an hour
|
| |
Coherent riffing? Does that mean it's no longer just a jumbled mess of juhn juhn juhn squealie squealie dadadadadadadadadadadada basjahdklashkldhaskldhaskf;klasncxmnvmxznm, vncxm, vnm,cx,mvncxm, nvm,cx?
|
| |
BTBAM playing with The Ocean, and there is so much new material...
sounds epic.
|
| |
the ocean, cephalic cargnage, btbam, and jfac
why the fuck is jfac on that tour?
|
| |
Oh man...this pretty much sucks. Oh well.
|
| |
sounds like what tgm should have been
|
| |
I understand what Aids is saying. I've gotten tired of the crazy parts, and find myself yearning for more controlled music with a direction.
Which seems to be what we have in Lunar Wilderness... I do find myself getting bored in the heavier parts though. There were songs in the past, too, that I had the same problem with. "Informal Gluttony" and "Disease, Injury, Madness" were the main culprits. Hopefully this grows on me some. I'm feeling 4 territory on the first listen...
|
| |
is it wank
|
| |
ur wank
|
| |
I agree with Waior. The heavy parts in Colors are abysmal, but less so in TGM.
|
| |
this band is so fucking boring now. haven't progressed one iota in 5 years.
|
| |
wank
|
| |
wank
|
| |
wank
|
| |
Anyone notice how the bass is much more audible on this than previous releases? I like that a lot.
Tracks in best order:
1) Lunar Wilderness (a masterpiece, the heavy parts are actually really inventive and the opening is amazing)
2) Specular Reflection (good heavy/soft interchanges)
3) Augment of Rebirth (ok song, sounds too similar to Colors/TGM imo)
All in all it seems like BtBAM is trying to focus on actual song structures rather than mindless wankery (for the most part).
|
| |
I listened to Selkies to prep myself for this, and it hasn't disappointed so far. I got a little too excited after Specular Reflection. I can't wait for Lunar Wilderness.
|
| |
"why the fuck is jfac on that tour?"
Because they're labelmates of BTBAM's and people in actual bands are usually not dicks to each other like people who spend all their time complaining on the internet.
|
| |
Used to be so insanely crazy about these guys lol will still get this, tho.
|
| |
Lunar Wilderness is really good
|
| |
@sonic- I hear a lot of King Crimson in this as well.
|
| |
guys come on.... this has the potential to be the best stuff they've written. the songs have better structure than any they have written before. they don't drag and keep flowing throughout the very long lengths. i really like this shit
|
| |
If it's any comfort, I like it. I'm just not going to stick my pecker in a microwaved melon over it. Generally speaking I like these guys.
|
| |
Album was pretty kickass. Exactly what you'd expect from BTBAM.
But they left out that cool part that was about halfway through the first studio video. I mean the one with Dustie and Blake dancing. That was my favourite. Unless I just missed it somehow...
|
| |
can't get into this band but i'll give this a whirl when i can.
|
| |
who?
ya i cant get into them either... i tried because of all the love they get here, but i cant do it...
much like the national and to a lesser extent animal collective. dont hate.
actualy, metal is one of the weaker genres in my musical tastes so... yeah...
|
| |
Freakin' awesome!
|
| |
Their best definitely, everything sounds a lot more focused than on TGM. However...i'm not into this band
|
| |
Already halfway through Augments of Rebirth and trying so hard to pay attention.
|
| |
i'd woken up with morning wood hoping to wank it off, and then i saw this and it strengthened my boner, but now that i've started listening my penis has retracted upon itself.
|
| |
If I hear that accordion one more time I'm deleting this from my iTunes.
|
| |
definitely some of there stronger stuff. although if you don't like them, this won't win you over.
|
| |
i am raw doggin this album
|
| |
Looking forward to listening to this
|
| |
Holy crap, listening now!
|
| |
Just the news I needed to see after getting over the flu.
|
| |
Listened, it's great. I'll have to listen a few more times to figure out more.
|
| |
it rules
|
| |
oh god
|
| |
it's pretty good, it seems like it's definitely better than The Great Misdirect
I really wasn't in the mood to listen to all of it today (not even half) so I'll rate it later when I feel like some wanky metal that isn't Protest The Hero
|
| |
"aids, how could you say that you are not impressed by songs like ants of the sky?"
I didn't say that. I said that technicality isn't "necessarily" impressive. Like, being technical for the sake of being technical is just dumb, which is what much of The Great Misdirect was. I love Colors though.
|
| |
Like, being technical for the sake of being technical is just dumb, which is what much of The Great Misdirect was. I love Colors though.
Dude come on, Colors was waaaaaay more forced sounding than Misdirect.
|
| |
oh cool my news article got posted. have yet to listen to this.
|
| |
1st song was sick, 2nd song meh, 3rd was pretty good
|
| |
really? I thought The Great Misdirect sounded more forced. Both albums sound very meticulously
planned though, to a fault almost in both cases.
|
| |
anyone miss when these guys were innovating their genre of metal and had normal length yet still unique songs (ala mordecai / selkies)?
I mean this is still really good in areas, but the wankery drones on so long that the song starts to run together into this jumbled mess causing the really good parts to not stick out as much as they should :-(
|
| |
cant stand when people call btbam's technicality 'forced'. stupid term
|
| |
I'm just a casual fan of this band, but Colors is easily my favourite album of theirs. I really like Desert of Song on TGM though. Really fun (and possible) to play on guitar.
|
| |
so far, liking this more than TGM. it still has that spacey feel that they put into TGM, but it just sounds less.. overbearing.
|
| |
"Dude come on, Colors was waaaaaay more forced sounding than Misdirect."
no.
colors was put together way better than TGM. TGM was their most mindless, pointless album. if anyone is going to diss BTBAM, that would be the album to diss. this however is superb
|
| |
"Dude come on, Colors was waaaaaay more forced sounding than Misdirect."
Truth. TGM flows so much better than Colors.
|
| |
"Lunar Wilderness" sounds like they've been digging some Traced In Air lately. Or it could be convergent evolution. I never got around to listening to BTBAM but I'm really liking this.
|
| |
itt: no one agrees which is the best BTBAM album
|
| |
Guitar scales-core.
|
| |
Definitely catching these fuckers the 18th.
|
| |
The drums rule so hard on this. And in general its way better than TGM. Also, this>>>>Scurrilous. Protest didn't even try to make a good album.
|
| |
no one agrees which is the best BTBAM album [2]
and no one ever will
|
| |
fags
|
| |
http://i51.tinypic.com/2448vpc.png
|
| |
"Protest didn't even try to make a good album."
while kinda disappointing, it's still a good album nonetheless.
|
| |
haha. typical.
|
| |
please waior dont review it we dont need another thesaurus masturbation session
I tell ya, ever since his review got turned into a meme Proggy's ego has just hit the roof
|
| |
you can download the ep on getmetal.org
|
| |
when is prog's ego not through the roof lol.
|
| |
listened to it, but at the same time as reading the nergal interview, so didn't take much in. sounded average. will give a few more listens.
|
| |
mr shamoozoo just made my night.
|
| |
Wow. Very impressed.
|
| |
my boner just got a boner
|
| |
Colors is better than The Great Misdirect, but TGM flows wayyy better.
This is pretty awesome.
|
| |
1st and last song rule hard. Not digging augment as much atm.
|
| |
Sounds pretty damn good.
|
| |
heard it's a three-song-EP, but np.
|
| |
it's good
|
| |
and my life has just ended again.
|
| |
Excited to see them on the 17th, but I feel like JFAC will attract legions of 15 year olds. The Ocean
sounds more up their alley.
Listening to the EP now. Much more aggressive than TGM, it's more like Alaska, with a fusion of
ambience and thrashy.
Dat polka part in the middle of the second track.
|
| |
This is easily their best effort to date, nostalgia for past records aside. The Great Misdirect lost me because of how meandering it was, HD sounds like they went out with some real musical goal like they did with Colors.
It's aggressive and sharp-edged like Alaska, but without the dead fragments between the good parts. The transitions have purpose and flow.
It really hit me when they took elements of classic Dream Theater and raised them to heights it had never been, with their own twist.
Call it as you may, this one's got my approval.
|
| |
these don't even sound like songs
it's a big 30 minute mush of sections that are actually really good, but sadly dont really build into anything, interrupted by straight horrible shit that makes you wonder what they were thinking
gg, btbam
|
| |
even my balls are hard.
|
| |
Not a bad album.
|
| |
youll like it andcas.
|
| |
awesome, obv.
|
| |
I'm really befuddled at how someone can say TGM flowed better than Colors when Colors in and of itself is one song. Also TGM was a remake of Colors. Trying to do the same thing over because Colors was so ridiculously good. Same thing occurred with Underoath when they tried to remake Define with Lost.
|
| |
wat?
|
| |
"cant stand when people call btbam's technicality 'forced'. stupid term" I can't think of a better
term, because the technicality doesn't sound natural within the context of the songs. Listening to
Fossil Generea or whatever it's called from the last album it seemed like it was just technicality
for the sake of technicality. Almost the entire album sounded like that. This release however, is
much better. Toned down what I (and from the looks of it, many other people) considered to be
completely unnecessary technicality. Now they just need to tone down their song lengths...
"these don't even sound like songs
it's a big 30 minute mush of sections that are actually really good, but sadly dont really build
into anything, interrupted by straight horrible shit that makes you wonder what they were thinking"
This is pretty much exactly what I was thinking.
|
| |
I think if they just split this into 6 songs it'd get much more positive reception. It's awesome, though
|
| |
I was not impressed with this
|
| |
yeah but the things that impress you impresses others in a bad way
|
| |
Expecting wankery and pretentiousness, we shall see...
|
| |
Album is beast, as expected.
|
| |
Like them or hate them, this is still pretty awesome.
|
| |
"ive come back to reemphasize how awsome this is despite the first track sounding exactly like swim to the moon except worse."
sounds nothing like swim to the moon and also it's a good song whereas swim to the moon is one of the worst things ever
|
| |
^ if you don't hear swim to the moon in the first track something is wrong with your ears.
|
| |
Like everything else this band has released, it's good.
Some will love it, other will not.
|
| |
WAAAAAAAAAHHHHH TOO MANY TRANSITIONS
WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH THEY USE THEIR GUITARS
Shut the fuck up.
Last track is good.
|
| |
I'm finding the heavier parts are less interesting than the proggy parts.
It's like a mixture of brilliance with sketchy metal parts for me. Not a horrible thing by any means, but I'm sure a lot of you understand.
|
| |
I had no idea their playing here in april. Gotta desperately scramble to get a ticket right now.
|
| |
That part in the first song does sound like Swim to the Moon.
There are otherwise completely different songs.
Swim to the Moon was good but it was way too damn long.
|
| |
it comes down to a very simple question: Does anyone who doesn't like btbam not moonlight as a faggot? I'm just wondering...
|
| |
Good stuff, last track's pretty great
|
| |
