| |
So who all is STOKED for 'THE FIRE'?
| |
excited but apprehensive
| |
I WANNA DROOOOOOOWN IN A SEA FILLED WITH NOVICAAAAAAIIIINE
| |
Gotta listen to this! Pretty excited.
| |
I always get to hear their new album on my birthday. Happened several years in a row now!
| |
I liked it a lot. It's definitely gonna take some listens like LINaWR though. Safe House and Headed West are the two that really stood out for me.
| |
I don't know why people are excited about this in the least. Buddy is one of the worst vocalists out there
| |
I JUSTTTTTTTTT WANTT TOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FEEEEEEELL ALLIVVVVEEEE
| |
Buddy's vocals are alright but that's about it. I bought and liked Still Searching but this is one of those bands that just get lost in the crowd.
| |
still searching was my favorite, linawr was enjoyable but really forgettable. i still find myself coming back to still searching though. that album was great.
| |
Yeah it actually was, now you've gone and made me youtube it, thanxxxx
| |
you can thank me later ;)
| |
Why when I just thanked you in my previous post?
| |
damnit. lawyered.
| |
It's cool, we all make silly mistakes.
| |
yeah, but this album was so good that for me to even rekindle your fond memories toward the album deserves at least 3 thanxxxx'.
| |
wooo loving hte hardcore influence on here
| |
well now that you said hardcore i'm kinda interested
| |
Meh... its ok. I will admit, im happy to see they got a lil more "ball-sier". Still average tho, they need more agression and less BH 90210 theme song-ish
| |
Had no idea about this
Will listen tomorrow :D
| |
let it enfold you will always be their best album.
| |

All Cowboys have Daddy Issues
should be known as their best song.
and excited for new album
| |
When Life is Not a Waiting Room came out, I thought "Lungs Like Gallows" sounded just like "Shark Attack". When I heard the first few seconds of "Coward", I instinctively thought the same thing. It seems like these 3 songs are a progression of the same concept. Each song was better than the last.
I'm liking this much more than the last 2 records. I kinda hated Still Searching after a while because it was Buddy's own personal pity party. I barely listened to liawr. This one seems a little more like Let it Enfold You. I may actually listen to this one. maybe
| |
All the best cowboys is amazing alongside Negative Space and The Priest And THe Matador.
| |
The second half of Still Searching is great (starting with Shark Attack) but the first half is pretty dull I think.
To me these seems like more of a mix between SS and LINaWR. I don't really hear any LIEY in it. Musically I think they're progressing, but lyrically it seems like it's retreading a lot of the same stuff that the past two albums covered. I like that this album overall has more of a sense of hope to it though.
| |
Safe House could easily have been on Let It Enfold You if nothing else than for the chorus.
| |
Perhaps. I only listened once.
| |
his lyrics have always been leagues better than most similar bands. buddys the fucking man.
| |
that's because he's real and knows how to word that. [2]
| |
well said andcas, well said.
| |
but there's more dumb lines in this album, "clip my angel wings"...
| |
Actually as far as writing goes, he's gotten so much better.
"clip my angel wings"
Still way better than most of the violent lyrics on LIEF. Love that album but "love me gently with a chainsaw" is a little melodramatic. It only works because Buddy is really relatable.
| |
Sorry, I disagree completely about his lyrics. He's a smart guy, I'll give him that. But all he does anymore is complain. Being a depressed and cinical and writing it down doesn't make you a good writer, it make's you dramatic. "Clip my angel wings" doesn't MEAN anything. It's just a stupid line. It's just as melodramatic as "love me gently with a chainsaw" and that's the only purpose these lines have. I have little respect for Buddy. There's nothing admirable about being deliberately cinical.
Also, andcas, you are pathetic. There is nothing "epic" about anything you say.
| |
Pretty rude, guy.
| |
True, probably a little harsh. But there's no excuse for worshiping the guy just for being honest. Which is why I more directly attacked andcas. My issue with Buddy is his lack of progression. In fact, my issue is his deliberate digression. No, there is nothing truly admirable about being cynical and showing no desire to progress. Jesse Lacey is completely different than Buddy and worlds more respectable. Jesse is the poser child for progression. And they both started from the same place: melodramatic, pretentious...yet well-writen lyrics. I enjoy songs like Tie Her Down and Seventy Times 7 for what they are. But it takes some maturity to progress from that. andcas, I agree with you about the overused approach to appealing to mainstream audiences. But as cleary21 pointed out, deliberate cynicism is a quick claim to fame. I don't listen bands like Senses Fail much anymore. There's better music and better artists out there. Dredg, Kaddisfly, Thrice, Brand New etc.
