Can't tell the difference between Pendulum and Basshunter anymore..
| |
sooooooooooooooooo
| |
The inevitable next single
| |
And what an awesome birthday present it will be as well
| |
How cool, that's pretty sweet!
Obvious choice of single, one of the better songs on the album.
| |
How cool, that's pretty sweet!
I was being sarcastic dude, but I do kinda dig the track what with its trance meets deep mau5 house vibe
| |
Sarcastic why? It would be great to have some good music released on your birthday, like Nightmare was for mine.
Curious that I'm spinning For Lack of a Better Name atm, but I know what you mean with the reference.
| |
Pendulum is so no longer Pendulum. Where the fuck is the Dnb?
| |
You're saying that Pendulum was ever proper d & b? Interesting
| |
They were a long, long time ago. Like before they even had an album.
| |
Eh, poppy Dnb
| |
Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xze_bliPTKg
| |
Even their early double A sides had their trademark rock sensibilities
| |
What track is that Skyler? I can't stream at work
| |
Vault. It's from like '02 or '03 I think.
| |
Its still a far cry from the likes of "classic" d&b like Aphrodite, 2 Blind Mice etc. They've always maintained an incredibly commercial sound and accessibility. While i'd happily rec Hold Your Colour for someone looking to start out in the genre, Pendulum will never be an example of actual drum & bass
| |
Genres evolve over time dude. If you're going to cite those two artists as examples of "actual drum and bass," you might as well just say that the genres been dead since jungle phased out in the late 90s.
| |
I'm more than aware that genres evolve, or sub genres emerge that bring something new to the table. Jungle for the old days, and more breaks influenced stuff like Neurofunk for the modern day, but I wouldn't say that Pendulum are evolving with the times or anything, more that they've just taken an established genre and attempted to commercialize it for their own purposes. And seeing as how "classic drum & bass" artists/music is still being made today only adds to my point.
And hey man, Jungle's making a comeback!
| |
Oh, well I wasn't talking about modern Pendulum, just their super early stuff in particular. Their current stuff, well that's an entirely different argument alltogether.
| |
Even their early stuff was incredibly accessible
| |
Yeah, haha, I'm not debating that man.
| |
I still have somewhat of a soft spot for them
| |
Haha, me too. One of my old roomies was a big dnb head from the UK and even he was digging Hold Your Colour back in the day. Last time I saw him was around when In Silico came out and and I asked him what he thought of it, and he said, and I quote, "It's utter shitte."
| |
I've always enjoyed Pendulum, any band or act that can successfully bridge the gap between two genres of music can only be good. It brings more people into contact with a greater range of music, and that's never a bad thing!
| |
Aphrodite is NOT classic DnB. And Pendulum used to do real drum and bass. Still Grey, Vault, Bacteria remix, Masochist, Voyager... They were never Ed Rush & Optical or Bad Company, but it was good, solid jump up dnb. This new stuff is watered down garbage. The vocals are unbearable, it's the same drum kit and pattern over and over and over, the same synths... Crap.
| |
I like this band.
| |
Yeah, I always felt that their older stuff had kind of a neurofunk/techstep feel to it.
| |
Aphrodite is NOT classic DnB
Lol
And Pendulum used to do real drum and bass. Still Grey, Vault, Bacteria remix, Masochist, Voyager...
And that was your follow up sentence for added hilarity
| |
I wasn't implying that Pendulum is "classic." Just that their old stuff was in fact drum and bass. As far as Aphrodite's place in dnb history, that's a matter of opinion. Give me old Moving Shadow (yes, 2 Blind Mice ftw), DJ Hype, early Dillinja etc. any day.
| |
If its a matter of opinion then why the added emphasis on him NOT being d&b?
| |
lol was not expecting to see so much Devil here.
This was one of the songs I liked on the album, no surprise about the stupid video though.
| |
song needs a dope mat zo remix to transform it into a prog trance classic
the idea is good, but executed in true pendulum 'yawn' style, needs more depth
| |
lol was not expecting to see so much Devil here.
You better not be talking about me Blac
| |
I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE BAND PIC, YOU'RE SO MEAN
| |
What are you gonna do about it?
