sorry for the shit title, DGD have a long name
|
| |
will never work band will probably split up soon
|
| |
wtf? this will be interesting.
|
| |
i always confuse Emarosa and Emmure bc i don't bother with either.
|
| |
Good news...but dont bother with Jon Mess though.
|
| |
omigod?
|
| |
Woah, what? This is pretty surprising. Not a huge DGD fan, but Jonny Craig is a fucking great singer.
|
| |
Nice. I'm interested to hear their next album.
|
| |
what the fuck? i would have never expected this to happen.
|
| |
As long as they can keep making the same catchy-as-all-fuck music they did on Happiness, whatever. This band keeps getting better musically, regardless of what goes on with the vocalists, it seems.
|
| |
The hell?
|
| |
prettty shocked
|
| |
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
i liked kurt more.
|
| |
Eventually they are going to have to find a new vocalist or Jonny is going to have to leave Emarosa. There's no way he can balance writing/recording and touring with 2 bands.
|
| |
great news. i liked craig better live anyways.
|
| |
this sucks.
|
| |
Fuck...I was liking where DGD was going...this is a step backwards.
|
| |
Haha Kurt was a GREAT replacement I thought for the way Dance Gavin Dance plays, but I really didn't think he was so good live... He sucked.
And idk how this is gonna even happen, Dgd is great w Jonny but how the fuck can you just leave Emarosa when you just made a new album?! And tour. Dick move.
|
| |
i do love jonny.
|
| |
lolololololololol wut the fuck is happening?
|
| |
Downtown was my favorite, so this shall be interesting.
|
| |
Too many people sucking Jonny's willie.
Still, looking forward to it.
|
| |
I hope Mess doesn't ruin the album this time around
|
| |
yessssss
|
| |
Shock! Awe! Excitement! Will they live up to it?! High hopes! DGD is just as much an emotional rollercoaster like my mom in menopauze!
|
| |
I'm thinking Emarosa and DGD can tour together if he wants to balance both. Either that, or he'll a pull a Maynard in APC and Tool sort of deal and just switch off between the two. It's not completely impossible.
|
| |
FUCKING SHIT!!! NO NO NO NO NO NO.
|
| |
The only song I've heard from them is Caviar. Pretty good song, but can't say I'm excited that this is happening.
|
| |
BULL SHIT!
Kurt Travis >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Johnny Craig
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
Kurt was probably my favorite Post Hardcore vocalist. He had a nice Jazzesuqe overtone that complemented the music nicely and made for a smooth listen. JC is good for that R&B vibe... but fuck no. I should kill myself now.
|
| |
fuck yes, THIS IS RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS
|
| |
I think jonny is better suited for dgd than Kurt is. but Kurt is a brilliant vocalist
|
| |
WoggleBunny
same here, wanna make a cult for kurt and then a mass suicide?
|
| |
iRefuse
I think we should do that. So long as we can make Jon Mess join. Then we would be the BEST... CULT... EVER.
|
| |
the first thing i said when i read this title was
FUCK THAT SHIT
people are offended and tired
but FUCK THAT SHIT!
|
| |
omg so they now have the line-up from DBM back?
Stoooooked
|
| |
Jon is going to make a mess. But I hope that Gavin keeps dancing.
|
| |
Took long enough. Other singer sounded like he was in elementary school. DBM 2 please. Oh, and can Chino guest on every song?
|
| |
''omg so they now have the line-up from DBM back?
Stoooooked''
Not quite the original guitarist is still missing but other than that yea, wow im like super fucking shocked by this. First Taking Back Sunday now this.
|
| |
WoggleBunny
go and ask jon mess to join us over twitter
|
| |
iRefuse
don't got it. You'll have to.
|
| |
I'm way more excited about the tbs reunion, but this is fucking awesome.
|
| |
Oh I was pretty sure they always had the same guitar players, but either way I'm excited about this.
DBM2 please. [2]
|
| |
Woggle
i don't have it thats why i asked you
Kurt Travis back.
Sniper01
how could you notice? you were concentrating too hard on the vocals or maybe you were one of those kiddos who just stopped reading about DGD when they knew Jonny was out.
|
| |
Refuse
Perhaps I shall make one just for this splendid occasion.
|
| |
this is so nice
|
| |
"it doesn't sound the same it sounded when jonny was in, so it sucks"
no really, it was just different, if you were to listen it not thinking: hey too bad they don't have
jonny craig, this other guy can't sing like him, you could appreciate it.
but either way, is your taste, you'll like what you'll like no matter how hard i try to tell you they
didn't suck. and i respect your opinion.
btw sorry if i'm flooding this news way too much but this is/was my fave band.
|
| |
I like Happiness, I just liked DBM better. And I always loved their guitar work, easily some of the best in this particular style of post-hardcore.
|
| |
can't stand Johnny Craig as a vocalist, or even a person(he's a conceited asshole). Happiness was the only thing DGD ever put out that i liked. guess i'll have to follow Kurt Travis on his new ventures.
|
| |
I'm with you sniper, it's like Thomas Erak but less sloppy and not as egotistical.
|
| |
This is fucking crazy news. I can honestly say I didn't see this coming...
|
| |
Pretty stoked on this! I really like Downtown Battle Mountain for some reason.
|
| |
Hello downtown battle mountain pt.2 (thats a great thing) =D
|
| |
yes
|
| |
I want to see a source for this or I don't believe it.
|
| |
This is cool news. I actually talked to Jonny Craig at Warped tour and he seemed really content where he was at with Emarosa. Should be interesting since the original lineup is essentially back...
|
| |
I'm pretty excited about this. I'd love to hear the kind of stuff they did on Happiness with Craig doing vocals instead of Travis.
|
| |
So stoked. Also, people saying Jon Mess ruins the band, stop failing and learn to take the elitery.
|
| |
would be stoked if johnny craig wasn't such a fucking faggot.
|
| |
I'm stoked because, who cares? It'll sound good to my ears.
|
| |
If they continue to write music like on happiness I'll be happy. I actually really liked Kurt, still should be interesting considering emarosa musically are pretty blah.
|
| |
i guess it's ok craig is an awesome vocalist
|
| |
Ridiculous comment here will be avoided...we'll just see what happens guys. Not jumping to conclusions with this one...though it is surprising none the less.
|
| |
They got so much better when he left so im pretty peeved about this
|
| |
big news
|
| |
Not sure how to feel about this at all. I always thought Craig suited them better, until they wrote happiness. This could EASILY go either way
|
| |
Very true
|
| |
Taking Back Sunday... Dance Gavin Dance... Umm, Take That... Let's all party like it's 2005.
What next? Wham!
|
| |
WTF?!... how disappointing.
|
| |
craig's vocals always seemed to overshadow the guitar work, and Travis' seemed to flow with it nicely. so I'll have to wait till the new album comes out to see if I like the change or not...
|
| |
If they continue to write music like on happiness I'll be happy. I actually really liked Kurt, still should be interesting considering emarosa musically are pretty blah.
I love Kurt on album, but live... he sucks. Really badly.
Jonny on the other hand... hopefully he learns to write good hooks for this, regardless though, it'll be good.
And the Mess has me stoked, his voice is just so raw and sarcastic sounding.
|
| |
Yeah I actually really like Mess, never understood the complaints about him. His vox are so big.
|
| |
Actually interested.
|
| |
Fuck this. I hate Jonny Craig.
|
| |
There's no way he can balance writing/recording and touring with 2 bands.
Why not? Here in Australia, we have a guy called Ian Kenny who is the lead vocalist of two of the country's biggest rock bands, Karnivool and Birds Of Tokyo.
|
| |
tiredness
sum shows 2 or maybe 3 sets if he does his solo that plus drugs and fucking
|
| |
Some of the above statements concerning Kurt are bogus. Kurt was a fantastic screamer live. I saw him a few weeks ago in Baltimore at the Scream It Like You Mean It Tour, and the dual vocals between Kurt and the clean vocalist were amazing and established DGD as the best show of the night. They were so good.
This is good news all in all, though. I just hope A. Kurt gets something good out of this and B. the clean singer isn't ousted by Mess' return.
|
| |
i like where you're going with that, and imma let you finish, but kurt was the clean vocals
|
| |
unless i just got reverse trolled up the bunghole, in which i bow my head and concede defeat for taking the bait
|
| |
I'm probably a minority, but Death Star was my favorite of theirs
|
| |

lol
|
| |
i think this is good news for them. i wish he would make up his mind though and not try to do all 3 at once, but thats just me.
|
| |
wow best news I've heard from this site in a long ass time. next year though :X
|
| |
This is good, Emarosa was boring, I wish he would just leave that band tbh, DBM was their best because of the vox, but happiness might have been if JC had been on that album.
|
| |
what?
|
| |
@whitetieblackjacket
get with the program! Kurt's cleans man, CLEANS!
|
| |
I'm pretty interested to see how this will play out.
|
| |
"craig's vocals always seemed to overshadow the guitar work, and Travis' seemed to flow with it nicely. so I'll have to wait till the new album comes out to see if I like the change or not..."
My thoughts exactly
|
| |
^ I'm not sure what you're talking about, since the clean vocals on Downtown Battle Mountain worked really well with the guitars and I think they struck a pretty good balance. That statement applies much more to Emarosa than it does to Dance Gavin Dance.
On a somewhat related note, I'd love if they made a Downtown Battle Mountain 2.0 for their next album. I've been listening to that a lot lately, and it is really, really good. Happiness was a good listen, but nothing on there comes close to Lemon Meringue Tie or Times New Roman. Though I wouldn't mind if they successfully integrated some of the better elements from Happiness into their new album.
Guess we're just going to have to wait and see how the new DGD is going to sound.
|
| |
I'd like to see a Helvetica or Arial on this next album
|
| |
please don't let this be Jonny Craig+others as Emarosa has become.
Dude has a great voice and all, but Happiness was the shit because each member worked as a unit to create something great. Now with Mess+Craig back I'm just going to presume they're going to shit on everything the band has done.
bleh.
DBM was pretty great and all, but dnw another one after what they did on Happiness.
|
| |
It's the same musicians, just with the old vocalists. I guarantee you they'll keep expanding musically.
|
| |
omg so they now have the line-up from DBM back?
Stoooooked
thiiiiiiiiiis
|
| |
Fuucccck.
Kurt was so much better.
|
| |
I'd rather have Kurt in place of Mess.
but Craig is awesome even if he is a jerk.
|
| |
y he a jerk
|
| |
he has twitter
|
| |
Kurt was so much better.
I disagree. Especially from live performance.
|
| |
When I saw Emarosa live(with The Devil Wears Prada and A Day To Remember woooo) Craig said this gem of a quote:
"I believe that music can save lives, and if you don't agree with me then FUCK YOU."
Guy is a pretentious douche nozzle.
|
| |
i hope kurt joins a new band at least
|
| |
Guy's a coke head.
Still a good singer.
|
| |
is that ur baby
|
| |
ya bro totez
|
| |
u had a beard
|
| |
/thread
|
| |
emphasis on had
|
| |
damn he's everywhere
|
| |
fantastic news, really liked DBM.
|
| |
how about they dont let jon mess re-join the band and keep both travis and craig
|
| |
hell yes!
|
| |
Nooooooooooooo!
|
| |
anyone know when the album drops?
|
| |
Downtown Battle Mountain is by far their best album, so I'm happy with this news. I really don't care if Craig is a jerk or if this will create band problems. I just want to hear a good album by this band again.
|
| |
agree wid ya lucidity
|
| |
Good news imo...
Also:
>This will not effect Jonny Craig's work with Emarosa or his solo project.
>will not effect Jonny Craigs's
>effect
>e
|
| |
Happiness was SO much better than anything they have ever done. DTBM is not even in the same league.
|
| |
fuck me fuck fuck fuck banana fucker damn it i wanted another self titled. sure kurt sucked live but hes good on albums. i dont want jonny craig to moan all over the damn album like he always does.
|
| |
Happiness
Downtown Battle Mountain
Dance Gavin Dance
Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean
yup.
|
| |
^this
|
| |
Why does everyone hate Mess so much?
DBM rules, the Mess rules, Craig rules, this is good news.
|
| |
"When I saw Emarosa live(with The Devil Wears Prada and A Day To Remember woooo) Craig said this gem of a quote:

Yeah, I saw Emarosa on that same tour too. Throughout the set, Jonny kept telling the crowd over and over again to get moving, which is understandable because the crowd was kinda lame. But then during their last song, he just said "fuck you", dropped the mic, and walked off stage while flipping us off.
At the beginning of the set Jonny said was really sick, and that he didn't really even feel like being out of bed. So I guess it's a bit understandable why he was upset when the crowd wasn't very energetic. Either way, he kinda came off as a douche. I will say that the man can sing, though.
|
| |
can't understand his damn lyrics tho, even after listening over and over, I had to go online for the lyrics!
|
| |
Witt, try Jake Bannon!
I never liked, nor disliked DGD. So this will be interesting.
|
| |
Haha what a douche. Awesome.
|
| |
Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean is still my favorite thing they've done.
|
| |
"Why does everyone hate Mess so much?

^^^ This.
|
| |
Touche, but I was trying to say they were hard to understand as far as clean vocals go. nothing Jacob sings can be considered or mistaken as "clean"
|
| |
so much win (:
|
| |
"Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean is still my favorite thing they've done."
lmao prolly stems from when i linked you to one of the tracks a couple weeks ago during an argument and you complained about how it wasnt good
youre so lame
|
| |
this band isn't even good why does this have so many comments
|
| |
idk you should keep asking
|
| |
DGD rule porch, wtf are you smoking
|
| |
didnt see that comming at all. crazy. how is craig gonna juggle 2 bands?
|
| |
^
LOLZ
|
| |
"Happiness was SO much better than anything they have ever done. DTBM is not even in the same league."
^ this.
This is all substantially upsetting actually. I feel like this next DGD record is going to be an exponential 'mess'.
Jonny Craig has vocals that feel out of place and overshadow everyone.
Jon Mess.
Tim Ferrick is gone (their best bassist to date).
Will isn't going to be doing harsh vocals.
Kurt wont be doing any vocals as he is gone.
On Happiness they really came together as a band, musically. Subsiding maybe a single song, they knew their limitations, and worked within them very well, and created a niche for themselves in the sound. Kurt's voice went with the instruments perfectly, and both complimented the other and he created great hooks vocally.
That is the main issue with Jonny Craig. He can't make good vocal hooks and his vocals don't quite fit the music. As much as I like him as a singer, he really should stay with Emarosa, as he has always felt out of place in DGD.
But hey, maybe I'm wrong. I sure hope so.
And man was this a cool story, or what?
|
| |
tl;dr
|
| |
“The album is being recorded in December. Obviously, Emarosa have the AP
Tour in the Fall and then in December, I have another tour with Emarosa in
the U.K. As soon as I’m done there, I fly out to Oregon to meet up with the
dudes [in DGD], who will already have started recording. That’s when
Downtown Battle Mountain 2 will be recorded.” – Jonny Craig
|
| |
Hey bunny. tim didn't record on happiness so basically their best bassist was jason ellis ex fmr.
|
| |
DBM 2 - Yuck. Thanks for killing one of my favorite bands Jonny.
Oh, I thought it was Tim. Fuck you Wikipedia.
|
| |
dbm was the best release to ever come out of jonny craig. everything else sounds the same. hoping this doesn't fail to impress
|
| |
lmao prolly stems from when i linked you to one of the tracks a couple weeks ago during an argument and you complained about how it wasnt good
youre so lame
in other words you still can't recognize when you're getting trolled
how tiresome
|
| |
I remember when trolling was fun.
|
| |
horrible news
thought craig owens was gonna join the band
|
| |
Craig Owen is a horrible vocalist nowhere near as good as Jonny Craig.
|
| |
im joking
i posted earlier that i actually prefer johnny craig to kurt
and yes craig owens should go choke on a fat one
every musical project he touches turns to shit
|
| |
cin sun was okay brosef
|
| |
yah but it could have been way better
|
| |
Yea self titled and happiness grew on me, i was looking forward to the next DGD album with kurt, hell if kurt stayed and jonny still joined. Now that would be interesting
|
| |
would have been awesome probs. but kurt still kinda lacked live though. johnny slayed in comparison.
|
| |
yea kurt was getting worse and worse live, when he first joined he was awesome, he even hit that last
pitch note on Robot with human hair pt.3 when i saw them.
|
| |
yeah i mean hes good but he just wasnt that consistent. but definitely did seem to lose his passion as time went on. dont think craig has ever disappointed live for me. usually is the high point of the shows.
|
| |
Yea seen emarosa twice and he killed it both times. Who knew such a tool could be a epic singer lol
|
| |
lol
|
| |
