HAHAHAHA.
|
| |
It doesn't look like a Sputnik list at all... What have you been smoking?
|
| |
Half the list is rather solid
|
| |
NPR Music's recently released app is so awesome. Good list, but few of the albums I voted for made it into the top 50.
|
| |
shitty list, gaslight should be in the top 10
|
| |
Not a bad list
|
| |
some good stuff. some not so good stuff. gorrilaz as #1 is a fucking fail though.
|
| |
yes that list looks very familiar
|
| |
No tallest man....?
|
| |
|
| |
GA was good but we're all forgetting how stale the new record is.
The National, MGMT, and Vampire Weekend have never made good music, and they certainly didn't start this year.
The Black Keys, Band Of Horses, and Jonsi saved the list.
Digging: Time Spent Driving - I'm Your Stab In The Back |
| |
The National, MGMT, and Vampire Weekend have never made good music, and they certainly didn't start this year.
wut
|
| |
2, 4, 8, 17 are all good.
|
| |
Band Of Horses' new album is really mediocre. Too bad Enrique approves this list only partially.
|
| |
the national is fucking brilliant son. stop smoking crack.
|
| |
"the national is fucking brilliant son. stop smoking crack."
if I ever wanna listen to a bad joy division/smiths ripoff, first I'll take my crack spoon and shove it in my ear
|
| |
Plastic Beach is good, not great.
|
| |
if I ever wanna listen to a bad joy division/smiths ripoff, first I'll take my crack spoon and shove it in my ear
oh gawd so much fail
|
| |
^ i'm starting to think The National is the new Neutral Milk Hotel. same crazed, misguided fans
where's nathan gale when you really need him?
|
| |
Some pretty good selections thus far. Missing the new Minus the Bear and Murder by Death though, IMO.
|
| |
NPR rocks
|
| |
not having tallest man on earth = blasphemy
|
| |
NPR...facepalm.
|
| |
i have little problem with this list
|
| |
^I'm not surprised
to klap4bullshit
|
| |
Prairie Home Companion
|
| |
NPR list = hipster list always.
|
| |
first josh D. and now bringonthebreakdown in this thread
all we need is mj and this might be the gayest news article of all time
|
| |
if I ever wanna listen to a bad joy division/smiths ripoff, first I'll take my crack spoon and shove it in my ear
Wow.
|
| |
List is good just for having Crystal Castles.
|
| |
This is eh
|
| |
Of the top five I've only listened to Plastic Beach, though it is indeed awesome. Seems like a good list. I gotta check out new Broken Social Scene
|
| |
Not a BAD list, but lack of Option Paralysis and Year Of The Black Rainbow = fail.
|
| |
I don't like NPR much but they have an awesome iPhone app :P
|
| |
Well, drasticaction is obviously a fucking idiot. How the hell are you going to say The National are trying to "rip-off" The Smiths or Joy Division? The only similarities are that the singers are baritones.
|
| |
What country is this website based in? I am presuming the U.S since Mumford & Sons is on the list.
|
| |
I don't like NPR much but they have an awesome iPhone app :P
Have you heard about the Robot Unicorn Attack App? My life is over. (but also in harmony, harmony, oh love.)
|
| |
@ daveyboy. The US. This list was made possible by support from listeners like you.
|
| |
pretty good list, npr
|
| |
Some decent stuff on that list, nothing on it is AOTY though.
|
| |
if I ever wanna listen to a bad joy division/smiths ripoff, first I'll take my crack spoon and shove it in my ear
you know...ive heard people diss the national, but that right there is just rubbish
|
| |
Plastic Beach really?
This list is shit.
|
| |
Yeah, apparently The National is ripping off Joy Division because they have a baritone singer.
|
| |
"Yeah, apparently The National is ripping off Joy Division because they have a baritone singer."
You mean to tell me Paul Gilbert has been ripping off Joy Division and The Smith's too? Shit, I knew it all along.
|
| |
No fucking DIAMOND EYES..are u shitting me???
|
| |
wish a small turn of human kindness was on the list
but oh well!
|
| |
Missing Janelle Monae from that list
|
| |
American Slang wasn't stale. It was different. If it was stale then I wouldn't have the Spirit of Jazz stuck in my head and on constant repeat. Just to be sure tho, I'm seeing them in columbus at the end of July so I guess I'll find out how "stale" these guys are. If by stale u mean incredible then I'm sure they'll be very stale
|
| |
also, big time agreement over Deftones being screwed by NPR. and, as with most everyone, I agree that the gorillaz should never be within 15 miles of the top spot. itunes couldn't give the album away (notice the dramatically lowered price and mixed reviews everywhere else)
is heaven whenever actually good enough to warrant a spot on that list? I've listened to stay positive but haven't gotten around to HW yet. Thoughts?
|
| |
So they don't listen to metal or something?
|
| |
why are lcd soundsytem so high up? no one liked that album
|
| |
'if I ever wanna listen to a bad joy division/smiths ripoff, first I'll take my crack spoon and shove it in my ear'
fucking lol.
|
| |
lol have some of you even been on NPR before? Shocked that a band like Deftones isn't on the user voted list?
Also, Drastication, the logic you are using is that because you think The National sound like The Smiths and Joy Division, they don't make good music. So essentially you shouldn't listen to any music because you can always find a marker that has come before and say that a band are ripping off someone who came before them. Does John Fahey suck because he played in a style of his forefathers?
|
| |
Heaven is whenever got moderate reviews, but I personally found it to be very good. Much the same as Stay Positive but I would say SP is a bit better.
|
| |
No Diamond Eyes = Instant fail
|
| |
Missing:
- Titus Andronicus
- Tallest Man on Earth
- Burzum
- A Silver Mt. Zion
- Anathema
- Alcest
- Sleepy Sun
|
| |
This list it LOL x 50
|
| |
why do they even do these lists? nobody ever likes them
|
| |
hahaha THIS LIST IS WRONG I AM SO PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW
|
| |
You guys, it is NPR. What basis do you have for bitching about metal albums?
I'm pretty sure most of said people don't even know that their FM dials can go below 93.1 so are
completely oblivious to NPR, their average listeners, and would be in excruciating boredom if they had
to listen to All Things Considered. It's all about demographics, you retards wouldn't expect Source or
Ebony magazines to be repping Immolation, would you?
except for the Gorillaz album it's full of win.
|
| |
lol
|
| |
So they don't listen to metal or something?
They did include some metal albums you could vote for, I voted for Septembre Et Ses Dernières Pensées, but, as expected, it did not make it into the Top 50.
Missing Janelle Monae from that list
24. Janelle Monae: The ArchAndroid
|
| |
Lists that exclude any type of music hold zero value in my book.
i.e. Diamond Eyes, Option Paralysis
|
| |
they don't exclude shit. it's a listener based list for a radio station. you could vote for anything. if more trendy metalheads listened to public funded radio then that shit would be on the list (and don't think I'm knocking metal because Deftones, DEP, Twilight, Alcest, Daughters are some of my favorite albums of the year)
|
| |
- Burzum
Ha. Burzy's new LP sucked.
|
| |
So lame, so bland, so NPR.
|
| |
