Mustaine Speaks On Shootings 2006-09-20 by Stormy Smiley Face | 11 Comments | Tragedy struck Dawson College in Montreal this week where Kimveer Gill shot and killed one eighteen year old girl and injured nineteen othere victims. Kimveer Gill (age 25) reportedly had drunk whiskey and listened to the song "A Tout Le Monde" before commiting this heinous act.
Frontman of Megadeth, Dave Mustain, has responded to this news with the following comments:
"Like everyone else, I am horrified and disgusted by the tragic events of (September 13th). We will pray for everyone who has been hurt, and all the families that are suffering."
Mustaine also referred to the meaning of "A Tout Le Monde":
"It's based on a dream I had, where my mother came back from heaven to say 'I love you.' It's about me talking to her again."
Sputnikmusic offers it's deepest regret over what happened and wishes all the families involved well.

I always find it ridiculous when people try to blame music for problems.
| | | I hate it when music is blamed for peoples problems. A trainer that I know put it best when he said "Music can't f*ck up already f*cked up people"
| | | A Tout Le Monde... such a beautiful song in a sense, couldnt possibly make anyone lean towards violence. I seriously feel horrible for those families though I doubt the music had anything to do with this.
| | | That was shocking when I first heard about it. I hate it when people blame things like this on music. They blamed the Colombine shootings on Rammstein, which is ridiculous.
| | | People need to quit blaming the music industry for everything
But this is tragic.
| | | Listening to Megadeth makes me want to kill things too. :p
:upset:
| | | This guy who want bananas was a real whackjob.. no one in any way blamed music on this (although the Toronto Star seemed to enjoy pointing out that he liked death metal more than once).. the guy was heavily into vampirism and openly hated people to an extent that i don't think anyone here ever wants to familiarize themselves with... crazy people are just crazy... according to his blog he was extremely depressed and was all 'fuck people, fuck everyone, blah blah blah'.... more importantly, why does montreal always get the shootings in colleges.. i'm not saying i want someone walking in shooting up my school, but jeez that's some bad luck.
| | | This is very tragic, but music doesn't warp ones mind, it brings it to the surface.
| | | If you are crazy enough to listen to a song and go out and shoot someone because of that song, you are already a freaking nutjob and you never needed the song in the first place to make you destroy life! This Message Edited On 09.21.06

| | | I actually could see how music might drive someone to do what they do. It's not even
the lyrics necessarily.
Granted, there'd have to be the seed there already. But don't act like music doesn't have
a huge effect on your life, if it doesn't you're not really passionate about it.This Message Edited On 09.24.06
