YES!
|
| |
it was good but not HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
| |
Cool, I'll give this a listen.
Edit: I heard it, and it's decent. Not amazing, but just decent. If the rest of the album is like this, then it will be a 3-3.5/5 for me.
|
| |
Typical single for Iron Maiden. Catchy yet simple. Did its job, which was to give me a massive erection.
Also, album art rules.
Check out the single artwork:

As always, Maiden's album art is awesome.
|
| |
stoked
|
| |
Song was pretty good, though Bruce seemed a bit weak at times (...D=) He's like over 50 though so it's remarkable he can still sing.
The tracklist is overwhelming though, it's 5 minutes longer than A Matter of Life and Death...nearly 80 minutes of material with 3 songs over 9 minutes in length. Wonder if they can keep it interesting throughout.
|
| |
Huge maiden fan, but kinda disappointed. They are old though so this is sort of expected. Bruce doesn't have that umph he used to.
|
| |
It's a good song but I'm not hotly anticipating the album if this represents the overall quality.
|
| |
That was really bad
|
| |
Sounds like a really awful mix of No Prayer for the Dying-era and their most recent
|
| |
Song isn't bad, but I hope the rest of the album is better.
|
| |
Of late their singles tend to be among the weakest on the album (Benjamin Breeg, Wildest Dreams)
That said I like it more than Benjamin Breeg.
|
| |
Are any other US user having difficulty getting the DL to start?
|
| |
I will cum when this leaks.
|
| |
I loved Benjamin Breeg! Wildest Dreams sucked though
|
| |
Disappointing. Nothing stood out whatsoever, except maybe the main riff - and not always in a good way - and IM just sounded like they were going through the motions.
Iron Maiden seems to have finally run out of ideas. Maybe Harris should consider the 15-album limit again...
|
| |
Iron Maiden is my favourite band, but I have to say the vocals were very weak. Song was okay, but the vocals make this at best a 3/5 for me. Sounds like Bruce might have hit the wall.
|
| |
That said I like it more than Benjamin Breeg.
Are you serious? Benjamin Breeg is an excellent song, great riffs and a brilliant solo too. This seems like a watered down version of some of their older stuff.
Huge Maiden fan, seeing them for the 4th time this July, so it's tough for me to admit I didn't really like this. They've gone in this really awesome progressive rock direction for their past couple albums, and that was the weakest song I've heard of theirs in a long time. Disappointing when compared to anything off their last two albums.
|
| |
The only cool part about Benjamin Breeg was the solo.
But i'm probably sugar coating this song.
|
| |
I don't remember the last time I was this let down by Maiden. The song be whack.
|
| |
It isn't incredible, but I still enjoyed it.
I'll bet the rest of the album is better than the single.
|
| |
A solid song. Really excited for the album.
|
| |
Is it better than Agent Orange's 'El Dorado'?
|
| |
I need to hear it in my car to give feedback on this.
|
| |
The album art is pretty good, although not entirely what I expected from them. I have a feeling this will become something of a generic continuance of what they started with BNW. I fear the length will not be a big help either, but we'll see. As for this song, it's pretty enjoyable, exactly what could be expected of the first single. Bruce is obviously getting weaker with each album, but he can still sing.
|
| |
It was decent, will probably be a grower. Got a feeling the other songs will kick some serious arse, though.
|
| |
Much as I'd love to comment on the song, it won't download for some reason so :-(
|
| |
I had the same problem. You can easily find it on youtube.
|
| |
The Maiden server is probably getting hammered. I listened to it on the Brave Words site. No need for me to download it, even for free...
|
| |
omg this is actually the most uninspired song i've listened to in a long time! plus it goes on forever. extremely dissapointing. it will be a shame if Iron Maiden go out on such a low
|
| |
Average Iron Maiden song. Not bad but nothing to get excited about, and yes, Bruce's vocals don't sound great unfortunately :-(
|
| |
song is sweet!! roll on 16th august
|
| |
song was boring
|
| |
decent song, but they can probably do better
|
| |
Song was quite uninspiring, its not bad but Maiden can do better. The rest of the album must be better. Great album art though.
|
| |
Sounds pretty good, I have high hopes for the new album!
|
| |
did not like
|
| |
You guys are Debby Downers they've done worse. They're all grandfathers by now and Nico's like 60 I think.
|
| |
There are quite a wide spectrum of reactions here
|
| |
i fear this may be the first iron maiden album with Adrian Smith to aurate a poor rating.
|
| |
Hey people, WHERE'S THE FAITH? This is IRON MAIDEN don't forget, don't let just one song throw you off the rest of the album. Like the band said, it's only a taster.........
|
| |
I agree with the opinions on vocals. Bruce doesn't sound too good, but that's what you get with age I guess. Song is pretty good, nothing mind blowing though. The art rules.
|
| |
Its alright bit of a dissapointment really. fucking love iron maiden though. last album was awesome. hopefully this will be good aswell.
|
| |
Double the BPM and this song would have been awesome lol. Song was alright, still stoked for the album though.
|
| |
It's kinda strange that the album art is all futuristic and whatnot and this song is about fucking El Dorado.
|
| |
"I agree with the opinions on vocals. Bruce doesn't sound too good, but that's what you get with age I guess. Song is pretty good, nothing mind blowing though. The art rules."
So much truth in this
|
| |
The song is quite good though Bruce sounds average, and I'm sure there are better gems on the album. My guess is that the album's theme is all about frontiers, future or past...El Dorado being one of them. Perhaps the album cover is a bit misleading. A great album cover anyway and the best since Brave New World IMO.

Just went and saw Iron Maiden for the first time in Dallas last night. Having been raised listening to Maiden, my Dad and I went to the show pretty damn stoked. Dream Theater opened and was pretty sick, yet a little boring. Still a great opener.
Then Maiden played. Whoa. Great show with an awesome presentation and the first ever rendition of "El Dorado". Cool cool. Show was going well and then I realize we're half way through the show and they're only playing new tracks. Turns out they opened with Wickerman and the rest of their set list's only track that was pre 1997 was their title track, Iron Maiden.
So I'm figuring they're saving the hits for the encore right? Partially. Encore consists of "Number of the Beast", "Hallow" and "Running Free". Good songs, but WTF?????? We went to an Iron Maiden show and did NOT see "The Trooper", "Run to the Hills", "Aces High" or "Two Mintues To Midnight". What???
I get that bands get burnt out of playing their hits every night, but damn guys. We don't pay to see you preform all you're new songs (which are still killer, but not as monumental imo). Amazing show and awesome performance, but weakest set list of all time. Holy shit, it was epic and an enormous let down at the same time.
|
| |
Oh and not a single song was played of their album "Piece of Mind" (personal favorite). How can you do this to me Maiden???
|
| |
Iron Maiden love to anger their fans. They refuse to play major cities like Atlanta, and even if they did, they'd probably just play Virtual XI in its entirety. Backwards. With trumpets.
They definitely don't give the fans what they want.

Heard ‘El Dorado’ and thought Bruce Dickinson had released another solo album. Some are concerned by his restrained vocals, not me, I’m actually anticipating Iron Maiden’s upcoming release for once. He proved on Acc Birth, C. Wed, Skunkworks, and a lot of Brave New World, that he can sing emotively without resorting so much to the wailing foghorn. Hopefully he’ll also continue to sing the verses rather than angrily talk his way through them. What has encouraged me even more is the great production quality, more contemporary sound, and no tinny, jangly bass! His quivering, wavering, quasi-operatic siren is just too much to endure over an entire album.
|
| |
gay song
|
| |
"I get that bands get burnt out of playing their hits every night, but damn guys. We don't pay to see you preform all you're new song"
LOL maybe you should've seen them on the last tour because you know, that was the entire point of it. I would love to see some of the newer age songs live.
|
| |
but the only places they played on the last tour were third world countries...
that makes them horrible people duh
|
| |
"but the only places they played on the last tour were third world countries and blue states".. because maybe they give a fuck about their fans, no matter where they live?
Fucking dickhead.
Incredible band. Excited for the new album.
|
| |
@IRE
yeah we went from Atlanta all the way to Dallas to see them play, since they weren't playing anywhere within the southeast. So I think the fact that we traveled all the way to Texas and didn't see the Trooper or any other classics was the thing that pissed me off the most.
Not as much of a fan of their new work, but damn they can still play and put on a hell of a show. I just wish they gave an equal fuck about fans in the South as the rest of the world.

"think about it like this: how would you feel if you saw metallica and THEY only played post-97 material"
The thing is, Maidens new stuff is actually awesome.
|
| |
Not all of it. Their three last albums (especially the last two) have had their fair share of generic and slightly boring songs, even though there's been a surprising new amount of classic material.
|
| |
I loved the last two. Each to their own though, and none of the new stuff has been as terrible as no prayer and fear of the dark.
|
| |
Brave New World is as good as most of the 80s stuff.
and as Nag said the other 2 still have a handful of Maiden classics so I wouldnt really mind
|
| |
Don't get me wrong: I love their new albums as well, but in between the Wicker Mans, Paschendales and Brighter Than a Thousand Suns, there are just a bit too many Out of the Silent Planets, Gates of Tomorrows and Out of the Shadows.
|
| |
I love those songs! haha
|
| |
Well, then I guess you won't even slightly dislike ANY of their songs on the past three albums.
|
| |
Nah man I definitley get where your coming from. there are definitley weaker songs on the albums, but that applies to nearly any of their albums bar maybe 2.
|
| |
Fear Of The Dark wasn't that bad, imo it was head and shoulders above No Prayer and their Blaze albums
|
| |
I've always read that actually, however I much prefer No prayer. The studio version of FOTD is terrible in comparison to live versions and I haven't heard the blaze albums.
|
| |
The studio version of FOTD is terrible in comparison to live versions
I was going to say the same thing. Heard the live version first and thought upon hearing the studio take: 'what IS this weak song?'
There are a few songs from the Blaze era worth looking into (Sign of the Cross and The Clansman are Maiden classics in my book), but the albums are overall very boring.
|
| |
Yeah that's what I've heard. Also yeah, I heard FOTD live first, and damn its weak in studio!
|
| |
there are more songs than just Fear Of The Dark though. Afraid To Shoot Strangers, Childhood's End, Wasting Love and Judas Be My Guide are excellent as well. I only enjoy a couple of songs on NPFTD
|
| |
Afraid to Shoot strangers rules.
|
| |
Best song off FOTD. Easily.
