Green Day Working On New Album

2010-03-17 by Prophet178 | 93 Comments
Green Day have revealed that they are already working on a follow up to 2009's 21st Century Breakdown. The band has been demoing new material that they have been working on during downtime from their tour. Armstrong stated:

“We did some demos in Berlin, some in Stockholm, some just outside of Glasgow and some in Amsterdam,”

"We wanted get [the songs] down in some early form."

I think it's time for them to just go back to their roots... something along the lines of Kerplunk.

I'd like to point at Sick of it All and Bad Religion to dispute Zipzop's claim.

Yeah Prophet, I'm here and didn't have to fix anything on your post so it went right through.

Edit: Oh yeah, NoFX too... (my iPod is on shuffle and they just came on).

so they plan on going for a more early green day sound...
if they are creative enough they MIGHT pull this off, but they were never very creative in the first place so they are probably just gonna make 'Dookie Too' and make millions of dollars, as the kids are all gonna eat that shit up.

Offspring are arguably more far gone than Green Day. RFPG and the two records before was about 60% godawful, except for a handful of tracks, much like if 21CB was about 1/3 shorter it would have been perfectly acceptable and a pretty decent listen. American Idiot is horribly overrated but still a good record.

Its our opinion, we're allowed to express it. I know people that like talentless bands like Brokencyde, that doesn't change the fact that I'm allowed to say I hate them.
If you don't like us expressing our hatred of something then I have a solution for you, don't go on the internet.

Yeah for some people I guess. Shit music isn't going to go away though. If Green Day quit making music, then it isn't like a decent artist is going to take its place.

Mostly I just thought it was ridiculous that people have such a passionate hatred for a band, because they don't like their music. Who cares?

Eclectic
March 26th 2010
3302 Comments

Yeah, I see your point. I think part of it is the fact that Green Day used to be good, so people wish they would die so that another crappy band, without a history, can take their place. Its the logic that its better to listen to something that you know has always been bad then to something that you know can be better.
