The Killers On Break

2010-01-14 by Observer EMERITUS | 37 Comments
The Killers' guitarist Dave Keuning has revealed to Australian Association Press (AAP) that, after their shows in February, the band plan to take a unspecified hiatus from touring and recording.

Keuning told AAP: "I'm not sure if people are aware of it but this is probably our last shows for a while. Unless some surprise thing comes up but most likely these are our last shows for a while. We're having a break."

He added: "We haven't had a break in quite a while. It's just been touring and making records and on and on and on. It's been like six years just kind of connected together. There hasn't been much time where we haven't been either touring or taking time to make another record.

"It's like people just expect us to do that non-stop till we die, but we just want a little bit of time off, just to be myself and do what I want to do for a little bit."

I've liked everything they've put out, they deserve a break though.

Their only great album is Hot Fuss, after that they had about 5-6 excellent songs mixed with B-side material. Tranquilize is a awesome song.

Didn't like their last album much, so no problem if they're taking a break.

Sam's Town was amazing, Day and Age and Hot Fuss were both pretty good I thought. This was going around for a while though, it's funny they are just now announcing it.

at first i didn't like sams town...but at first i didn't like the killers. time will prove that, along with day and age, the killers are a damn consistent pop band. here's to any side projects/creative napping that this band has to endure to continue making good music.

If you have a peach, press it gently, Mmmm, lovely and ripe. We're going to remove the stone from the center now, then leave it in a pan of boiling water.

Sam's Town was ok, Day and Age was disappointing, I still go back to Hot Fuss the most.

Weren't they releasing a cover album?

I bought Saw Dust the Day it came out and that was there Covers/EP album. It has the Joy Division cover on it along with Tranquilize with Lou Reed. All I heard about the Killers releasing anytime soon was the live album they just released.

JWT155, you are wrong. They have definetly been in talks of making a covers album. Not Sawdust (which is one word, btw). I actually really loved the cover of Bright Eyes they did to be honest. They are a good/respectable band that deserve a break. I hope their next album is just all around great though...

Sam's Town was one of the most underrated albums of the last decade. IMO, it was just as great as Hot Fuss. Day & Age was pretty bland though...

Break is fair enough... They have been pretty much touring non-stop & are popular all over the world.

Having said that, I'm certain the new direction of 'Day & Age' did annoy 1 or 2 of the members. I was reading an interview with the drummer & you can tell he was not happy with the direction, despite not specifically saying so.
