|
| |
Liked Limp Bizkit when I was kid, thought I was the shit. Probably gonna listen to this, I still like a few Bizkit songs like Boiler and Counterfeit these days so yeah maybe.
|
| |
this is days old and predictably nostalgic/awesome
|
| |

|
| |
flavor flav feat. fred durst would be epic
|
| |
Lol @ Alligator, I knew what was that was gonna be before I clicked it, it's still hilarious, and sad.
|
| |
Yeah it never gets old lol.
|
| |
I guess almost every person between 21 and 27 years old watching this sh*t does it because nostalgia or to chuckle.
|
| |
im 18 and i do exactly what u said above me.
|
| |
Haha the title alone makes me wanna buy it "Gold Cobra" haha!
|
| |
nostalgia agreed. though i'll check out their new stuff with all 5 original members
|
| |
lol
|
| |
im 18 and i do exactly what u said above me.
Well, I guess then they had an "impact" on more age groups. I am abashed to admit I listened to these clowns in my adolescence.
|
| |
where do I sign
|
| |
haha that shit made me laugh
@alligator, so did that clip
|
| |
Nostalgic win. Seriously, isn't he like 40? Man needs to buy himself some trousers that fit and a sensible pair of shoes.
|
| |
It doesn't sound like they've progressed much ... I know it's just a 48 second clip though.
|
| |
no i hear gold cobra is going to be super prog
|
| |
Super AOTY.
|
| |
HAHAHAHAHA
|
| |
The lead single will have a 20 minute acoustic passage along with hip hop beats fading in and out from left to right.
|
| |
Haha I saw these fools at Werchter 2009 for like 20 seconds on my way to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. In those 20 seconds, Durst yelled "come on!" five times and grabbed his dick twice. I've never liked any of their music, even when I liked shitty music.
|
| |
Yeah I would have to say back in the day I never understood the point of these guys. Though I was obsessed with Linkin Park back in the day.
|
| |
im sad wes borland went back to that shitty band
|
| |
This is gonna be really progressive. Just imagine the 30-minute nu-metal epics Durst could create. He could do raps with strings in the background.
|
| |
shag my friends tonight!
|
| |
NEVERMIND...NEVERMIND...
|
| |
Flavor Flav and Durst should totally do a collab
|
| |
What FuckingSwim said in the comments. Pretty much what I was gonna say.
|
| |
SO YOU BETTER GET SOME BETTER BEATS AND SOME BETTER RHYMES
|
| |
we got the gang set so dont complain yet
|
| |
that was worth watching for the laughs.....
|
| |
EVERYTHING IS FUCKED, EVERYBODY SUCKS
|
| |
man these guys get so much hate. yeah they are pretty shit but the music is fun in a way, and for me that means i can sometimes enjoy it. when i was 14, seeing them live was insane. ill prob aquire the new CD to see what its like.
|
| |
You don't really know why but you wanna justify RIPPIN SOMEONES HEAD OFF!
|
| |
man these guys get so much hate
WHY YOU GOTTA HURT SOMEBODY LIKE ME
|
| |
RATM's lyrics aren't that much better tbh
|
| |
That guitar solo vid makes me lol every time I see it. Its so terrible.
|
| |
What??? @poopular
|
| |
RATM's lyrics aren't that much better tbh
lol
|
| |
Not that difficult to understand really. Both bands lyrics rely on juvenile, mindless sloganeering.
FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME
WE GOTTA TAKE THE POWER BACK
FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!!!
How profound. I'm not trying to troll but people can't act snooty about Limp Bizkit and simultaneously claim that RATM's lyrics aren't borderline retarded as well.
|
| |
Simplicity is key
|
| |
We can say that RATM > Limp Bizkit no matter what you think about lyrics
|
| |
WE GOTTA TAKE THE POWER BACK - fighting against oppression
I DID IT ALL FOR THE NOOKIE, SO YOU CAN TAKE THAT COOKIE AND STICK IT UP YOUR YEAH - I did it all for the sex, so take that biscuit and stick it up your yeah......
I don't see the comparison.
|
| |
Both band use similar simple imagery to get their point across. The difference is that RATM is trying to get a worthwhile point across while limpbizkit is to music what fratboys are to Obama (stupid, and in the real scope of things very useless).
|
| |
Both bands have shitty lyrics, that's all i'm trying to get across. Of course Limp Bizkit's are worse, but the overall message behind RATM's lyrics doesn't really compensate for the flaws i mentioned earlier.
|
| |
LET EM' BOUNCE IN THE MOSH PIT
THROW YO HANDS UP!
|
| |
I didn't see any flaws in your examples though.
|
| |
^ wow this is deja vu
|
| |
If unthinking 'rebelliousness' that sounds like it was written by a teenager is your thing then RATM do the job well. And having seen them live, de la Rocha's rhetoric gets old real quick. He's been saying the same thing for years and there doesn't seem to be much thought behind his politics. And this has to be said yet again: they're on a fucking major label.
I was more impressed with what Tom Morello had to say at a Nightwatchman gig a couple of years ago, even if musically it was pretty dull stuff.
|
| |
one motive no hope
cuz every sidewalk I walk is like a tight rope
yes i know my deadline sire- when my life expires
I'm sendin paper south under the barb wire
the mother of my child'll loose her mind at my grave
it's my life for their life
so call it a free trade
"Por Vida" and my name upon a stall
I took a death trip
when I tried to cross tha white wall
I don't see any unthinking rebelliousness
|
| |
Well look who's arguing now. :P
|
| |
Come on.. even some of the most die hard RATM fans I know will admit that their lyrics aren't exactly sophisticated. Try listening to one of their albums in its entirety. Anyway, we agree to disagree.
|
| |
Yeah I know, i'm the poster child for irony :0 I'm also the voice of reason!
|
| |
And I'm the voice of this generation, the one true saviour of man kind.
|
| |
I've got all their albums poop. I think a big problem with some is how he delivers them, and he obviously writes them in more of a hip hop style. Agree to disagree though =) You watching this Taylor? Civilised argument haha!
|
| |
Civilisation was built on the slaughter of millions e.g. ROME. You're doing it wrong.
|
| |
JOHN OTTO, TAKE 'EM TO THE MATTHEWS BRIDGE!
|
| |
CAN YOU FEEL IT?
|
| |
DJ LETHAL, BRING IT ON
|
| |
YEAH!
|
| |
SHUT THE FUCK UP!
|
| |
RATM's lyrics stand for something. Fred dursts are just
YEAH
BRING IT ON
WORK IT
HATE
|
| |
it's embarrassing that a 40 year old man like durst still sings like that and bounces around like an emo phaggot 16 year old.
album of the year though 5/5
|
| |
I WANNA FUCK YOU LIKE AN ANIMAL, I WANT TO FEEL YOU FROM THE INSIDE
oh wait
|
| |
everything is fkd
everybody sucks
|
| |
XD This guy somehow manages to make Vanilla Ice look legit. And this reunion is the worst thing since the Creed reunion. (I'm still pissed at you, Stapp....we COULD'VE had the next Alter Bridge album by now but noooooo, you needed more money. -_-)
|
| |
HAHA lame..he's doing those silly moves even in the studio, in front of the mic..that's sad. Remember the PopoZao video by the K-FED? Where he's doing those lame ass hand gestures and stuff? This is quite similar to that
|
| |
haha wow
so bad
|
| |
Fred Durst just wasted 48 seconds of my life. Always hated this band, especially for their cover of Behind Blue Eyes.
|
| |
gold cobra
|
| |
Must be something wrong with the audio, because all i hear is "nookie, nookie, nookie," for 48
seconds.
|

|
| |
wasn't there supposed to be an unquestionable truth part. 2?
|
| |
@ MrPoopular
"Both bands have shitty lyrics, that's all i'm trying to get across."
Why exactly? What relevance does RATM have to this news post, and why are you attempting to draw a comparison between their lyrics?
"I'm not trying to troll but people can't act snooty about Limp Bizkit and simultaneously claim that RATM's lyrics aren't borderline retarded as well."
No one made any claims about RATM to begin with. Sorry but that does make you a troll bud.
|
| |
Whether it was troll-like or not, RATM's faux-political-awareness is at least overblown, and borders on self-parody. As Poopular said -- THEY'RE ON A MAJOR LABEL. How can you fight "the power" when "the power" is signing your paycheck?
And yes, Bizkit's lyrics are worse, but I think the point is that somewhere between 95 and 99 percent of rap-metal lyrics suck ass; so hating on a rap-metal band for having bad lyrics is like hating on the radio for playing Coldplay.
|
| |
Machineflesh: the original comment about RATM was addressed to the poster above me (Titan50), who is a RATM fan. The reference to RATM's lyrics was made because he was sarcastically quoting Limp Bizkit lyrics. So yeah, shut the fuck up about stuff you don't understand bud.
|
| |
Actually you were the first person to brign Rage into this thread
lol You should read the Fred Durst interview in this week's Kerrang
"Lyrically, what have you been inspired by?
"My inevitably tortured mind"
Dude is a regular Daniel Johnston
|
| |
Yeah because news threads on sputnik never go even slightly off topic
|
| |
Everything's your fault
|
| |
Keep 'em on the sidelines
Choking on my fly rhymes
You need the Heimlich manoeuvre
This ain't no joke
|
| |
I think I heard a shot
|
| |
Don't hate me
I'm just an alien
With thirty seven tons of new millenium
Dum diddie dum
Where's it coming from?
Misses Aguilera, come and get some
|
| |
Ohhh, the good old times where I thought break stuff was the heaviest song of all times.
As nostalgia, few groups beat limp bizkit.
|
| |
Inveigh you're confusing me bro.
How does expressing displeasure with the US govt's domestic/foreign policies have any relevance with a band's music label?
Ya maybe it would be self paradoxical if they were being paid by the govt, but they're not... They're paid by the people that purchase their music.
The fact their label is a large multi-national corporation is kinda irrelevant. As for being overblown... haha they're musicians/artists. They have a tendancy to do these kinds of things lol.
|
| |
Dude... RATM's rants aren't restricted to the US government. They're consistently spouting anti-capitalist rhetoric to anyone who'll listen, and yet they're on a major label. If you don't see the inherent hypocrisy in this then i don't know what to say. This interests me, so i looked at what the band had to say about it:
Q: How do you reconcile being anti-corporate and being on a major label?
Morello: "Rage Against the Machine sold fourteen million records of totally subversive revolutionary propaganda. The reason why is that the albums were released on Sony and got that sort of distribution.
You have two choices. I admire bands like Fugazi that take the other route. They are completely self-contained and independent. But if you do that, then you have to be a businessman. Then I have to sit there and worry about the orders to Belgium and make sure they get there. That is not what I'm going to do"
Ok, now that is one seriously weak-ass answer. And revolutionary propaganda? Give me a fucking break.
/discussion
|
| |
KEEP ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN...
|
| |
MrPoopular pretty much said it best. But the reason that's a weak-ass answer is because it pretty much sums up what RATM is all about. There is no grey area with them, either you're an anarchy-supporting, capitalism-hating communist or you're big brother/evil empire whatever. Their options are not limited to being completely self-contained/independent or major-label -- there are plenty of respectable indie labels that will distribute records for a band. The problem is that RATM is all about indicting those they deem as "greedy" yet they chose a major label because it gave them the best opportunity at making millions.
There's just something a little ridiculous about a band with borderline socialist beliefs (that's VERY outspoken about it -- although they never really propose any actual solutions, they just talk about what they don't like and it's all surface-deep) that's making millions of dollars for themselves on large major label.
|
| |
They signed with Epic 'before' their 1st album release 20 odd years ago. Lyrically it was entirely political. I take your point, but burning them for not changing labels before they matured as people and expanded the scope of their music is pretty harsh.
And you're basically throwing a blanket across any band/artist that speaks out about social inequities yet attains some level of financial success, whether they're with a major label or not.
But anyways, being a RATM fan I was only annoyed at them being lumped in with Limp Bizkit lol.
|
| |
It's understandable that a RATM fan would be offended at them being mentioned with the L-I-M-P --- I get that. RATM are still superiour, but their lyrics aren't as deep or meaningful as their reputation would suggest.
Also, I'm not really annoyed that they speak out about social inequities and attain financial success; I'm more annoyed that they speak out against capitalism in songs they're using to profit FROM capitalism. It's just a little hypocritical and makes them seem like phonies (not sayin' they are, just kinda sayin').
|
| |
no offense but you people are all really dumb.
|
| |
Makes me wanna BREAK STUFF.
|
| |
Fred durst is such a badass. He gives society the finger when its back is turned
|
| |
theacademy, i am highly offended tbqh. Your words have been preying on my mind ever since i read them.
|
| |
Why is this crap in the Metal section?!
|
| |
Isn't durst like 40 now?
|
| |
He's 40, and he still can't play the guitar, or sing, or rap, can this guy do anything?
|
| |
no.
|
| |
Ask Cristina Aguilera......
|
| |
BACK BACK BACK BACK...FRED SHUT THE FUCK UP!
|
| |
album will no doubt bring peace to earth and you all will bow before its glory.
|
| |
Album will rule
|
| |
Album of The Year 2010 I'm predicting.
|
| |
I'm psyched. Don't get to hand out that 5 rating too often.
|
| |
Haha
