Here is what is going on- Lil Wayne is considering ending his career. Him and the record company are pushing the record back as far as possible so that the date will be long after he has ended his career. Afterwards, the company will sell the album as some deluxe edition bullshit so that there is more hype for new Lil Wayne after he is gone and make more $$$.

actually, they're probably pushing it back to build up speculation and excitement to make the release as epic and momentous as possible.
Right now, Lil Wayne is rubbing his hands together in glee saying:
