The Sputnik community obviously was interested in the Mastodon lesson, as evidenced by the comments and reception. I fail to see what illegitimizes that as news anyways; something that's publicized at regular interval isn't allowed to be news?
Frobenius, there's nothing wrong with them, they're just not for me (huge exception to the Gibson ES-355) - the same reason I'll never play a Telecaster. Not bad guitars, but not for me.

Please, to me, it's not even how a guitar sounds. It's about the feel of it when you play it. If it feels solid, like you're making it bend to your whim even though it has it's own personality.
...and after playing a starter Strat rip off for the last 4 years, anything other than that feels like you're playing an instrument from God.

I've got an 06 Goddess SG in white. It's such a phenomenal guitar. Gibson's products and quality control have plummeted in the last 5 years or so and everyone has been complaining about the quality of the mahogany in the past couple years. I wonder how long this Madagascar fiasco goes back

I want you to go all over various news sites and count up the number of articles that link the viewer to another source, the one where that site got its information, and read off the overwhelmingly large number with your head hung low, knowing that the reason youve annoyed people isnt because your a genius and pointed out something remotely useful, nor that you insulted anyone, but because what your saying is whats illogical and makes you come off like a pretentious little shit.

Whatever Gibson has been doing since the inception of the PRS singlecuts has been fairly irrelevant, guess they have to make news somehow.

I have an SG standard and love it. But Gibsons are ridiculously expensive, especially here in Australia. One of the main reasons they use to justify the massive price is that they only use the best American mahogany and rosewood available, and are hand made in the USA. If this is proved to be untrue then it would have to constitute as fraud or at least false advertising.
Gibson don't have the best reputation at the moment due to poor quality control (head down to your local gibson dealer and check the finish/binding/fret work on the latest Les Pauls - a fucking disgrace for $3000+ instruments) and this may well prove to be another nail in the coffin. If it is proved true I cetainly won't be buying another gibson, that's for sure.

Customs are just as bad. I played one a few weeks ago that had a big lump in the fretboard between the 13th and 15th frets and cut my hand on the fret wire sticking out of the binding. The sticker price was $7,650.

Yeah don't get me wrong, they're not ALL trash. Mine's an 08, but I played many, many bad ones before I found one I thought was worthy of parting with thousands of dollars for. I'm glad I did, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I wouldnt know for sure that all gibsons nowadays are complete trash, but i would think the pros all play vintage for a reason other than to be cool.
i have a les paul studio, straight mahogany, and i love it. Granted its not the perfect guitar for me, but i couldnt for the life of me find another guitar in the $800 range that came close.
