List is lol. UK is lol.
|
| |
Has plenty of good stuff, but they put it in the wrong place.
|
| |
list could be worse i suppose.
top 100 here http://www.nme.com/list/albums-of-the-decade/158049
|
| |
I fucking despise the NME and all the hipster cunts that slavishly follow it
|
| |
Having In Rainbows above Kid A is just wrong, no way of getting around that really.
|
| |
Vampire Weekend is on that list, what did you expect?
|
| |
"Loveboxx/The Love Below"
Not the name of that album.
|
| |
Before I looked at this I thought to myself "I'm not gonna get angry at this because it's just another generic UK publication album list that will inevitably have The Strokes's discog on it" and then I still got angry
42. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
41. Wild Beasts - Two Dancers
40. Ryan Adams - Gold
39. Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles
like srsly out of 23805328 albums those all make it on this list
|
| |
when will people realize Rated R is better than songs for the deaf?
|
| |
There are a few on there that I would have on my list but this shit is weak.
|
| |
when will people realize Rated R is better than songs for the deaf?
THIIIIIS
|
| |
is this it? really. that top 5 is despicable
|
| |
but they're the most important albums of the past ten years!
|
| |
gay
|
| |
I hate when magazines release lists.
|
| |
been listening to a lot of the Strokes recently with Casablancas' solo album having come out but wouldn't call that the number one album of the decade
|
| |
:|
NME are shocking tbh, and this is pretty obviously 'put a Radiohead in the top 10 to keep everyone happy'. even then they go and pick the wrong one.
|
| |
Remember when NME was good? ME NEITHER
|
| |
"Having In Rainbows above Kid A is just wrong, no way of getting around that really."
in rainbows is better
|
| |
when will people realize Rated R is better than songs for the deaf?
when they actually listen to rated r
|
| |
Primal Scream? REALLY?
|
| |
n00b list written by n00bs
|
| |
hey, that ryan adams album is good, although it's not even his best one of the decade
really, some of this list is pretty good, but yeah the top 5 is pretty wtfux
|
| |
Needs moar Radiohead.
Also, how are The Strokes no. 1? Quite possibly the most overrated band of the decade.
|
| |
Music Magazines are barely worth any time... especially when they put out shit lists like this. This one has very few good albums in it & putting Amy Winehouse, Dizzee Rascal & The Streets in a "Top 50 of a Decade" List is just laughable. Makes me feel ashamed to come from a country that has quite a fare amount of musical talent, with the press deciding to follow the a lot of shit ones around
|
| |
MOAR METAL!!!...
but seriously this list is a little narrow in its scope...
|
| |
So number 1 is almost correct, right?
|
| |
I love how every time one of these lists gets posted, sputnik goes mental. Calm down guys, of course it's not perfect. It is pretty good though, there's some really good stuff and some really questionable stuff. It is NME after all.
|
| |
Was very suprised a shitty mag like NME put 11 in there at all. Even still, it deserves a higher place (top 5). 14 should be number 1.
On an unrelated topic (sort of), 'Is This It' is indeed a great record, especially to chill out to after or before a night out, but having that and that Artic Monkeys album in the top 5 of the decade is pretty much retarded.
|
| |
Sputnik should put together it's own list IMO.
|
| |
Inserting generic comment about how bad list is.
|
| |
iranscam - don't diss Gold, I fu**ing love that album.
|
| |
List isn't that bad, but lol at the Streets having two albums in the top 15.
|
| |
This is super hip.
|
| |
Some very good albums on that list but there's also some shockers.
And the two Streets' albums are pretty flawless tbh.
|
| |
Jesus Christ
|
| |
loved crystal castles.
but really, an album where nearly every track has the same drum tracking can hardly be on the best of the decade list.
|
| |
Pretty good list.
|
| |
What the fuck is a Loveboxxxx?
|
| |
And of course metal is to a large degree ignored.
But Botch is actually in their top 100, huge surprise.
|
| |
where the fuck is the national
|
| |
So i guess this decade will be remembered for an overload of indie rock. Quite disappointing.
|
| |
horrendous list, some good albums that I'd put on a top 100 list but none really amazing. No metal at all.....
|
| |
what, no kanye?
but seriously, where the fuck is Bon Iver?
|
| |
Jane doe anyone?
|
| |
"when will people realize Rated R is better than songs for the deaf?"
they're both equal for me. fucking classics though. Agreed with arctic monkeys though, that kicked the shit and put new life into brit pop.
|
| |
1, 11, and 12 are best here.
|
| |
This is pretty lol.
The Arctic Monkeys and The Streets are trash. And what the hell is the UK's obsession with Pete Doherty? I mean I know he's the best looking guy in Britain but thats no reason to idolize him.
|
| |
if by best-looking guy you mean best-looking smack addict, i guess.....
|
| |
He was being sarcastic...
This list sucks ass almost as much as Alligator's taste in music
|
| |
The absence of "The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me" makes me want to punt a baby.
|
| |
"The Arctic Monkeys and The Streets are trash"
The Arctic Monkeys are the best thing to happen to mainstream rock in a long time!
|
| |
Get your hand off it.
|
| |
Mainstream rock, sure, but not music as a whole.
Frightened Rabbit are easily the best thing to come out of the UK in the last 4 or 5 years.
|
| |
The absence of "The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me" makes me want to punt a baby.
Me too old sport, me too.
|
| |
Some good albums, but I generally don't care for this list, just like for many others released so far.
|
| |
no opeth?
|
| |
No metal whatsoever. It seems they don't consider it a music genre.
|
| |
well...
|
| |
list is way better than i expected
|
| |
It's just a mainstream British indie-rock orgy with far too much Pete Doherty, ten-second bands that the magazine hyped and needs to keep hyping so they don't look moronic, and deliberate anti-statements. In Rainbows higher than Kid A? Up The Bracket @ 2? LOL. Also, 11 is so out of place it's laughable. If you're going to be all 'indie', at least stick to your guns.
TDAG was in the top 100, outside the top 50.
End of the day the publication is for wannabe English hipsters that idolize Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse and probably take black-and-white photos of themselves slumped up against walls whilst smoking.
|
| |
Hey guys, 49, 38, 32, 23, 20, 19, 18, 15, 14, 11, 10 and 4 are great. Don't go bawwwing at the lack of metal, crybabies
|
| |
Great =/= Best Of Decade
It's a fucked up list, dude.
|
| |
A lot of those would make up my list
|
| |
List was decent, just in a weird order.
|
| |
yeah strikey said it best
|
| |
lol at everyone whose pissed at the lack of metal on this list - what do you expect? most mainstream music magazines as well as independent ones aren't going to have too much metal, if any on their best-of-decade lists, unless you're reading kerrang! or revolver or something
|
| |
also, i just realized they put Brendan Benson on this list - huge fucking props
|
| |
this list is so bipolar.
|
| |
Don't hate Two Dancers by Wild Beasts, that's an awesome album, would make my top 50 of the decade.
All seriousness, radiohead are amazing, but I'd imagine more people would put kid a above in rainbows. NME are too up themselves to not be subjective.
|
| |
"In Rainbows higher than Kid A?"
come on guys in rainbows is better srsly DEAL W/ IT
|
| |
If in 2001 someone told me that the Strokes album was the best album that would come out for the next ten years, I would have been really depressed. Good thing it wasn't and this list is awful/laughable/ignorant/a joke?
|
| |
How the fuck is Animal Collectiven not on that? Sung Tongs, Feels, Strawberry Jaw, not to mention Merriweather Post Pavillion.
|
| |
Because it's the NME, for the most part they only acknowledge shitty english hipster bands
|
| |
this list is fucking laughable
|
| |
it's not bad for a list of alt/indie.
|
| |
i stopped reading after the muse
|
| |
no Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem? wtf. its way better then The Blueprint by Jay Z. stupid list.
|
| |
They missed alot of albums and Agaetis Byrjun is only at 97... :/
|
| |
THE STREETS REPRESENT!
|
| |
List is exactly what I expected.
Utter wank, haha.
|
| |
Shocking. I know it's been going forever, but the NME has absolutely no credability.
|
| |
Other than 'Whatever people say i am..' that list is balls.
And no, The Arctic Monkeys are not 'trash,' that album is fucking amazing, but its probably a British thing.
|
| |
About ten of those albums are actually memorable.
|
| |
Go fucking cry about it
List is quite good
|
| |
hipster on hipster crime is the best crime
|
| |
muse at number 49, and not even their best effort, this is a joke, nothing more, nothing less. a cruel sad joke at the end of the decade to sell some copies for xmas. its just a shame the music press in britain is far less talented than the actual musicians.
|
| |
you know what this isnt as bad as i thought it would be. this is the british rolling stone so i was expected a train wreck with no survivors but besides the fact that the order is fucked up, they put a lot of good albums on there. are they the best? not even fucking close, but i'll take what i can get, people should be happy theyre promoting at least decent bands for the most part here. and putting qotsa in there is cool id say
|
| |
and two dancers is a FUCKING AMAZING ALBUM to agree with barns up there. obsessed with that right now, the hype machine gets one right there
|
| |
..and one more
NO KINGS OF LEON!! THANK THE FUCKING LORD
(and away goes the credibility for my Only by the Night review..)
|
| |
