Are these guys another Christian scene band? I can't remember.
| |
I heard a song off of Dreams and it was abysmal. Avoid.
| |
yeah, i saw this band live and they were pretty bad.
| |
Typical Rise Records band, yea
| |
"Typical Rise Records band, yea"
Except....they're on Equal Vision
| |
hadnt heard these guys until i saw em at The Chariot show a few weeks ago. I thought they were actually pretty good, they made me dance at least. And then they let me pick out a free tshirt. pretty cool guys but yeah they definitely fall into that whole 'devil wears prada, gwen stacy, bring me the horizon' genericness so if you cant listen to that steer clear
| |
i think there's something pretty grandiose about it. i'm going to download it in better quality and give it a few listens, and maybe do a review on it.
| |
they're pretty awesome you guys should at least give them a chance
| |
the auto-tune is pretty obvious, which kindof pisses me off haha
| |
Sounds catchy aside from the auto-tune.
| |
Eh, better than I expected, but still nothing special.
| |
the song dreams is sick, but all the new songs i've heard have been crap. i'll listen to it anyway, cause dreams was a gem on a shit EP, so maybe there will be a gem on this probably shit album
| |
i could only listen to their older cd a couple times before it got boring. they're like attack attack!...but without the crabs.
| |
They sound a lot like Oh, Sleeper.
Only difference is Oh, Sleeper is WAY better.
| |
This isn't like Oh, Sleeper
| |
Thanks to whoever fixed that link. Haven't listened to the full stream yet, just the two songs they had up before. These guys are good. Similar in style to Attack Attack, but there's a huge difference in quality. I don't like that they've increased their usage of autotune, but the stuff is solid and pretty catchy.
And the Oh, Sleeper comment was fucken stupid. If you're gonna compare them to a band that doesn't sound like them, at least compare them to a band with synth.
| |
zrosschristian should give up on music after that comment
| |
This is pretty good for the first few listens but it's going to wear off very quickly. I actually didn't hear that much autotune. Not nearly as much as Attack Attack!
| |
so i've listened a few times and decided this is kind of a happy medium between attack attack and tdwp. it veers between the two and sometimes works, but usually doesn't. probably 2.5
and the re-recorded version of dreams is sick
| |
This album is more processed than a big mac
| |
I liked Intentions and Dreams better on their EP :/
| |
thing is, big macs are good as shet.
| |
This is so ridiculously produced, but i like it. i'm not a fan of the excessive auto-tune however
| |
the autotune makes me want to kill people.
| |
EP version of dreams is miles better.
| |
the vocals are, but i like the guitars on the album version. and i prefer the album version of intentions by far
| |
"Except....they're on Equal Vision"
Haha yea, i know, i just didn't feel like typing out Attack Attack and The Devil Wears Prada and all of the other RR bands that they sound similar to in some ways.
And yea, the production is typical Joey Sturgis "take a bad band and make em sound way better than they are" style. I'll give him credit, he's good at that, but it gets fucking obnoxious at times. I feel like i heard these guys were awful live
| |
sounds like the guy knows what he's doing
| |
Sturgis knows how to make bands sound like they can play their instruments, but he also knows how to make albums that sound like complete garbage. I can barely hear an actual instrument on this album (that includes the human voice), the entire band sounds like a computer
| |
I dunno. I thought it was decent.
| |
jeez. The less obvious autotuning on the EP was far less obnoxious, this just sounds like Hellogoodbye with BRUTALITY. To be
honest this sounds pretty wank.
| |
i give it a 3.
| |
If Attack Attack! knew more than one breakdown and was two steps closer to having actual song structures.
not my cup of tea, but not super awful :-|
| |
i listened to 20 seconds of this and loled. lame
| |
I kinda like this....guilty pleasure I guess.
| |
Tempted.
| |
give in
| |
Don't bother waior, considering you pretty much hate all music like this. But this isn't anywhere near terrible, its just overproduced. Still, it's a fun sound even if it gets to be a bit too much sometimes.
And I saw these guys live before I left for college and they were pretty good. I was expecting the clean vocals to suck but they were actually okay and the instrumentation was pretty spot on.
| |

Unfortunately. I'm still hopeful for the day when I find a band in the genre that incorporates synths and the like into their music properly without autotuning the crap out of everything and drizzling breakdowns all over the place. AGATG's latest came kind of close but not really.
| |
I'll probably review this
| |
autotune killed any chance of this being good
| |
autotune killed any chance of this being good
is correct.
| |
I like it :P I enjoy this album a lot haha
| |
Honestly, you guys gotta get over the autotune. It's a little annoying here, but they've stepped their game up guitar wise as far as I can tell. There's now a bigger difference between the heavy and clean sections, and its pretty interesting.
But yea, hating it just because there's a little autotune is a bit stupid.
| |
Sturgis is so good at what he does, it's almost too good. He will help bands that have quite a bit of talent make a record that is far superior than anything they could reproduce live. Part of this is the over-produced/auto-tuned clean vocals. I've seen these guys live twice before and they are all solid, talented musicians, but the only thing that is iffy live are the clean vocals. He can't hit those higher notes on a consistant basis without auto-tune. I feel like if they're gonna use it on the record, they might as well use it live too.
| |
Yea, he IS a talented producer, that's for sure. I just like the organic, natural sound (i.e. Beggars, etc.) that allows the soul of a band to show through, rather than the glossy overproduction that people like Sturgis and Howard Benson (see: Saosin's self titled, a lot of other stuff) peddle. Obviously it makes it impossible to pull off live, and the vocals are just the most prominent.
"this just sounds like Hellogoodbye with BRUTALITY"
HAHAHAHA i laughed SO HARD at this
you can tell by my CAPS LOCK
