Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose was arrested in Stockholm early this morning (June 27) after allegedly biting a security guard in the leg outside his hotel, police said.
Rose, who performed in the Swedish capital last night, was being held on suspicion of attacking and threatening the guard, as well as causing damage to the Berns Hotel where the alleged scuffle took place, police spokeswoman Towe Hagg said.
Hagg said Rose was intoxicated during the confrontation, which broke out around 8 a.m., and would face questioning after he sobers up. "He was deemed too intoxicated to be questioned right away," she said. A prosecutor will then decide whether to press charges against him, Hagg said.
It was unclear what caused the fight, but Swedish tabloids said the guard tried to intervene when Rose started arguing with a woman in the hotel lobby.
Fredrik Nylen, one of the police officers who helped arrest Rose, was quoted by the daily Aftonbladet Web site as saying that the singer acted aggressively toward police and had to be "handcuffed and restrained" in the hotel. "He kept a high profile, so to speak," Nylen was quoted as saying.
Guns N' Roses played a concert in Stockholm's Globe Arena last night, and had been partying at a well-known night club before the scuffle, Aftonbladet said.

Guns N' Roses have responded to Axl's arrest by saying the police handled it wrong and the way it was certain information can't become public that would make Axl not seem like the bad guy.
Despite that Axl pleaded guilty in court and paid 40,000 Krona in fines and 10,000 Krona to the security guard who Axl supposedly bit in his leg.
Guns n' Roses have declared themselves "very unhappy" with Swedish police following frontman Axl Rose's arrest and subsequent fine in Stockholm on Tuesday (June 27).
Now the band's manager Merck Mercuriadis has revealed the band's anger over what has happened, and that the police report regarding the incident "should not be taken at face value. We are very unhappy about Tuesday's events in Stockholm. To put this in context, we are in the middle of a tour - with sold out shows last night in Oslo, tomorrow in Copenhagen, and Saturday in Zurich rounding out this week alone - and continuing until the beginning of August. The point is, the police report should not be taken at face value. If the context were any different, Axl would probably have preferred to spend the time in jail in order to ensure that all the facts were a matter of public record. The 15,000 people at the show Monday night were amazing, and everyone we met before and after were terrific...there were a number of people involved who treated Axl well, while the conduct of some was questionable and others still deplorable. Regardless, Guns n' Roses will return to Sweden where they will play once again for the people, not the authorities."
