Franz Ferdinand Say No To Tacos

2009-04-10 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 22 Comments
Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos has revealed that the band rejected a request by a leading US-Mexican fast food chain- presumably Taco Bell- to use the song 'Bite Hard' in an advertising campaign.

Kapranos told London radio station Absolute Radio (as quoted by the Daily Star): "They asked if they could use our song Bite Hard and I think the idea was people were going to be biting into their chili enchilada while the song was in the background.

"It would be like going to McDonald's or something like that. It just didn't seem right."

The request is not without precedence: US act the Shins licensed their track 'New Slang' to the aforementioned Mickey Ds in 2002, to much hullabaloo in indie circles.

So, what you're saying is Franz Ferdinand hate Mexicans?

Confirmed, you heard it here first.

I just came back from Mexico for spring break.

Not as dangerous as the cowards in US want you to believe it is. I was welcomed with 'amigo's and 'familia', and not to mention CERVESAS!

I went to the Playa de Carmen with my girl. It was incredible. We went parasailing, ziplining, scuba diving in an underground cave...

I didn't want to come home

Waior, why didn't you tell me sooner
You mean I wasted my week with all-you-can-drink beer and all-you-can-eat nachos?

Of course! There's nothing better than frolicking down our dirty beaches in bullet proof vests!

Okay, a mild hyperbole.

Band should have done it, though I guess they don't really need too much more money.
