Remember Panopticon? 2022-08-30 by Brandon Scott EMERITUS | 17 Comments | America's premiere black metal musician Austin Lunn of Panopticon has announced the projects two newest ventures and its plans for the future.
"The new albums are nearly complete and headed for mixing: The Rime of Memory is a 75 minute long, atmospheric black metal record that incorporates some familiar sounds, tipping it's hat to older Panopticon records...but this time with a lot of big string and choir orchestrations courtesy of my string collaborators Charlie and Patrick, and choirs performed by myself and some familiar voices. The album is a concept record and will be accompanied by lyrics and text as well as art and photography by my wife and collaborator, Bekah Lunn. I started writing this album before " ...And Again Into the Light released, so it has been quite a long time coming. I'm excited to see it completed."
As for the second item:
"Laurentian Blue is a shorter, americana album, made up of my own originals, dating back to 2018, but includes one cover & also a new previously unrecorded song written by my good friend, Mr. Richard Inman. The album will feature very special artwork, again by Bekah Lunn, showcasing her unique processes and photographic perspective. Musically, the record is very stripped down...no electric instruments at all."
At the time of this writing, the release dates for these albums have not been announced.

| | | Don’t care about the bluegrass album, but The Rime of Memory sounds promising.

| | | This dude churns out music so fast that I can’t even take the time to really deep dive. And again into the light was so good but I haven’t heard anything since then and it’s only been a year since that dropped
| | | He came out with an EP a couple months ago that had two Collapse era songs on them. It’s very good, you should check it.
| | | That ep was fantastic
Legit maybe the best non-album Panopticon release
I am blessed by the news of more Panopticon. Tbh I'm stoked for both records, goddamn this dudes a musical workhorse haha
| | | i love the s/t so im quite excited :D
also in the bandcamp post austin also included a gofundme for a friend who's also a drummer in Hawkbill and other stuff: http://www.gofundme.com/f/travy-james-fund
| | | In for the Americana album
| | | Based enjoyer of panopticon bluegrass songs logging in, excited for both albums. But the black metal one more.
| | | Excited for the atmo black metal stuff. His country/Americana/bluegrass stuff has never really hit with me except for when it's casually mixed into his bm stuff
| | | i wish we could get some grim s/t bm with some darkfolk americana fs.
| | | fuck yeah sounds sick
| | | Pumped for bluegrass album.
| | | If you haven't heard Austin's bluegrass stuff, do yourself a service and listen to The Wandering Ghost.
| | | i dont think americana and bluegrass are the same thing so
