Daniel Tompkins unveils new song/album

2020-10-17 by Toondude | 18 Comments
British singer and TesseracT frontman Daniel Tompkins has officially released his newest single, entitled "The Gift". The song also features Matthew Heafy of Trivium on guest vocals. The song comes from Tompkin's new album, Ruins, which is scheduled to be released on December 11th.

The song features the return of the djent/prog metal sound that fans are familiar with regarding Tompkin's work, compared to the more mellow pop sound of his previous album, Castles.

Listen here:

Album tracklist:
1. Wounded Wings (feat. Plini)
2. Ruins
3. Tyrant
4. Stains of Betryal
5. Empty Vows
6. Sweet the Tongue
7. A Dark Kind of Angel
8. The Gift (feat. Matt Heafy)

Wasn't he doing a remix/remaster of Limitless with Paul Ortiz, as well as working on new Zeta material? And that's not even considering Tesseract and WMBB. How the hell does the guy find time for all these projects? Not that I'm complaining; I'll take as much Dan as I can get.

First impressions are pretty good, though I'll have to give this a proper listen on something that isn't a smartphone speaker.

Looking forward to hearing the opener with that Plini feature.

I halfway wonder if he should put more focus on White Moth Black Butterfly because that stuff was much better than this.

Dude is kinda overrated. Not bad but nothing that stands out vocal wise

I completely agree generally. Have to listen to the new one though, his last album was quite uninteresting

I dig Matt's harmonies, but Daniel's melodies aren't interesting lol. He mostly lives through production and maybe that's why Tesseract grew off me so much
Plini guest leads are a nice though, but nothing more. they're very subtle

True, Dan can sing and has a wide colour palate. But overall. It's the songs that don't get me

Watch the Concealing Fate live recordings if you ever doubt his talent level.

It's alright, I really dig Dan as a vocalist. His harmonies are always cool even if he uses a lot of the same melodies sometimes. The song was better in general than it initially indicates so I'm glad I listened to the end.

More interested to hear what he does with Tesseract next, I think his best vocal work with them is on Polaris and I think Sonder is pretty enjoyable even though it's not their best. This solo track is cool to hear in the meantime.

New Tesseract could be good. The band is clearly talented and some of their songs are amazing. I wish they would focus more on cool riffs and songs than on the same kinds of grooves and ambience though

Song is decent, dunno if I would have noticed Heafy if I hadn't been listening for him but it's cool that he's there

I had a lot of trouble getting into WMBB , not sure why the sound is up my alley
