New Trophy Scars Song/Album

2020-06-15 by SowingSeason STAFF | 38 Comments
New Jersey post-hardcore/experimental outfit Trophy Scars have released a new single entitled "Mother" from their upcoming release Astral Pariah. The new album will mark their first LP in six years, since 2014's Holy Vacants. The release date is still undetermined.

With regards to the concept of the record, frontman Jerry Jones indicated in an interview with The Brooklyn Vegan that "Astral Pariah is an homage to spaghetti westerns and takes place in the same narrative universe as Holy Vacants...Set in an alternate timeline in the post-Civil War west, the album revolves around a man’s journey to carry out brutal revenge against his violent, criminal family. The lyrics are told through each of his victims’ eyes before he commits familicide."

"new song mother off first album"

shame they couldn't even get the grammar right in the headline.

song is pretty solid. seems to pick up right where they left off, more or less.

It was okay, but I’ll support anything this band does. I do appreciate that it’s a little heavier than most of HV, but overall it seemed a bit reserved for them. I’ve been so spoiled with their lengthy jams.

I dug it. Really loved Darkness, Oh Hell and Never Born, Never Dead, but didn't care too much for Holy Vacants. This sounds promising though

song is good, will probably need some listens to fully absorb/appreciate. it's definitely Trophy Scars and that's the most important thing. and besides, we're getting a whole fucking album!!!

Glad these guys are finally dropping the new stuff! As has been said, probably a grower, and I'm sure it will also improve within the context of the album, but it's a strong start. Actually didn't know Soundcloud hurts audio quality although maybe I'm just dumb.

it sounds like the original mix is incredibly compressed and then on top of that soundcloud compressed the shit of it

hopefully the final mix sounds better

yeah that mix is fucking trash. not sure i'd care for this one even if it weren't so compressed, but i agree that hopefully the final version doesn't sound like this. these guys have always been hit or miss for me.

I love the spaghetti western sound they are going for with this and Panic Machine. Seems very much like a natural progression from Holy Vacants and some of the more cinematic moments from their output since Bad Luck. Not sure if anything will be able to eclipse the EPs, but I'll be damned if this isn't my favorite band of all time. Unbelievably excited for this.
