New Mariko Goto Acoustic Album 2020-05-19 by dimsim3478 | 3 Comments | Former Midori singer Mariko Goto has announced that she will finally release her first album as "Mariko Goto Acoustic Violence Pop" after years of performing acoustic shows under this moniker. Goto has been working on the album with prolific recording engineer Souichirou Nakamura (of the studio Peace Music), and has tentatively set the album release for "around Autumn" of this year. Today, she released the music video for the song "Enoshima Memory" from the new album. The song consists only of vocals and acoustic guitar from Goto, and it is possible that the entirety of the upcoming album will be in the same vein, as Goto's previous album Love from Gainsbourg was also entirely written and performed by her alone.
Goto also made her new single "Punk ga Suki" available on digital and streaming platforms today after releasing the music video on May 10 to celebrate "510 Day". The B-side to the "Punk ga Suki" single is Goto's own version of the song "Paint Pain Heisei", which she wrote and produced for the Osaka idol group Kupipo. "Punk ga Suki" and Love from Gainsbourg were both released under Goto's other moniker "DJ Mariko Goto" (alternatively written for English-language purposes as "DJ510mariko"), which she uses for her electropop work.
Barring any cancellations, Goto is set to embark on the joint three-date "Mari Kuri Tomeisaka, Heaven and Hell Tour" with perpetually pantless singer Clitoric Ris in September. Each of the dates will feature a different guest act selected from open auditions submitted via Twitter and judged by Goto, Clitoric Ris, Tsuruichi Kato (head of the Osaka live venue Fandango) and Manabu "Boone" Sato (manager of the venue Huck Finn in Nagoya). Goto and Clitoric Ris have promised to respond to all auditions submitted with the hashtag 「#まりクリ東名阪」.
