So I really, really dig this. I think each single they've released has proven to be better than the last.
This is really good, can't believe I'm actually excited for a Dream Theater album but here we are.
This is incredibly alright
Not gonna lie, I've had this on repeat since I saw it online. Maybe it's the caffeine kicking in, but hot damn do I find it catchy.
It also sounds like DT is having fun playing fairly straightforward (for them) rockers instead of grand conceptual prog pieces. It's a good look for them based on the singles.
Opening riff is like the boring, compliant and utterly predictable cousin of The Dark Eternal Night.
Enjoyed that quite a bit, that’s 3/3 now...
Seems these shorter song lengths are doing the band a lot of favours.
Digging: Vitriol (USA) - To Bathe From the Throat of Cowardice
yeah wtf that opening riff is the most generic metal/rock riff ever. seen more interesting riffs in Three Days Grace songs tbh. Vocals and piano in the verse is nice tho.
I am 10 seconds in and that riff does not inspire confidence. Oh it just keeps going eh. This is like early 2000's Hard Rock 101.
Ahhh there's his voice and I'm reminded why DT is a guilty pleasure band. Labrie's so hammy in a mid-80's rock way.
I'm not a huge fan but this is still better than their last decade of output
Digging: Louis Cole - Time
Dream Theater good again? What era good are we talkin'?
Digging: Killswitch Engage - Atonement
probably the weakest of the 3 they've released so far but it's still pretty darn good
I really dig those singles from the album so far.
Digging: Tool - Fear Inoculum
Not bad at all, a much moodier sound than I was expecting.
Still feel like Mike is holding back tho
Nomos: Yeah, I got that early 2000's vibe as well. To be fair, the album is sort of mean to be Train of Thought inspired so fair enough.
This song is ok. Love the intro riff but labrie kills it for me at this point. Far better than the astonishing, but Im not sure I can get in to this.
Intro riff sounds like Chevelle
Digging: Orphaned Land - El Norra Alila
I'm really surprised how well these singles have turned out.
I'm pretty sure all three songs so far have had disappointing opening riffs but they were enjoyable when the song kicked into gear.
Wow that was boring as fuck
what does boring mean to you
“Paralyzed” by Dream Theater
I'm not hating Mangini that much nowadays, this is a solid track.
Digging: Post Malone - Hollywood's Bleeding
Damn terrible news. I hope they get well soon. SENDING GOOD VIBES ONLY
Digging: Sleeping With Sirens - How It Feels to Be Lost
It's okay. It kinda sounds like a beefed up Breaking Benjamin song, which I guess is still better than BB nowadays, but it makes me gag a little thinking how mainstream DT sounds. The last single was way better.
Digging: Tool - Fear Inoculum
With a different singer and a better production job this would be a very enjoyable track. As it is, it's just alright. The new album will likely be in the 2.5-3 range like most of their recent work...
Digging: After Forever - Exordium
i wish they were paralyzed so they stop making this shit
Digging: Lana Del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell
Should I even bother? The newest I've gotten with these guys is Octavarium.
riff sounds like something on a hurt album
I was also thinking it sounds like a Breaking Benjamin song.
This is so mild, why do you have to care about this and can't listen to any of the actual good prog there is these days?
Sucks. Sounds like it could be from the most recent Breaking Benjamin album
Confucius say, this not good
Is it too late to replace Labrie?
It gets better towards the end
this doesn't sound like dream theater at all, but this album might be an okay jumping back in point for me, I haven't followed anything they've done in years.
You haven't missed much.
JP has taken over songwriting and it's been shit ever since.
we have your good prog for you it's called post hardcore, bitches
