This is absolutely amazing. The solo is just soul-splitting.

Sweet gotta listen to this.
|
| |
This was amazing.

Great song.
Can't get enough of doom metal.
|
| |
Cauldron of the Wild might be my album of the year. It seems they can't be stopped this year.
|
| |
they can be stopped and topped
|
| |
Well. Definitely not in the realm of doom metal.
|
| |
u clearly have not listened to windhand, stoned jesus or christian mistress because all their releases this yr are superior
|
| |
Haha. I actually reviewed Christian Mistress' new album dude. It's heavy metal, not doom btw.
|
| |
i am not saying this isn't great because it is, i'm jst saying there is 2012 metal in the same vein that is equal to or better to be heard
and christian mistress has a lot of obvious doom influence don't nitpick ;3
|
| |
I know. I really enjoy Possession too.
|
| |
I like Witch Mountain, but not in love with the new album as much as the older stuff. I love vibrato on the vocals, I just think she uses it a little too much, but the music rules. I do agree that Windhand is badass, and I like Pallbearer album better too. However, still good doom metal! And I am huge doom guy myself!
|
| |
possession is a great fucking record. any of u heard the new castle?
|
| |
No, I have heard about the new Castle record, but have not listened to it. Good?
|
| |
it is good and is of the same high quality doom as subrosa's no help for the mighty one
|
| |
I will check it out.
Have you checked out my doom band, Destroyer of Light? You may have, and I just forgot. But we about to go on the road, and if you are near Little Rock, Indianapolis, Chicago, Kalamazoo, or Grand Rapids. We are playing next week.

"I like Witch Mountain, but not in love with the new album as much as the older stuff."
^Interesting. I think their older stuff is somewhat underwhelming, but to each his own.
|
| |
um idk man send me a link

Greg, it's her approach on the vocals of doing too much vibrato. Musically, it is their best, and she has a great voice, I just wish she held off on the vibrato. On the last album before this, it was pretty much right on.
|
| |
I know what you mean. At first I wasn't a fan of vibrato either, but then I got used to it after a few spins. Still, there are some moments that irk me a bit on the first track.
|
| |
I will give it some more listens. To be honest, I only gave it one spin. Maybe it will grow on me more, but what I don't get is on the Self-Titled, she controlled her voice better and sounded great.
If you want a chick who has great control of vibrato and eerie and scary as hell, check out The Wounded Kings - In the Chapel of the Black Hand. Perfect doom record, right atmosphere, and just darn-right fantastic.
|
| |
I've heard one track out of it and it sounded really cool. I'll check out the whole album.
|
| |
Definitely do it. It is definitely one of my favorite doom records of all-time.

i really did not like their new record much -- i think EotNH and tSOA blow in the chapel out of the water. it's not that the new singer has a bad voice but the compositions seem stale now, at least in comparison to their old shit w the dude on vox
|
| |
Really? I don't know, man. I listened to the old records, and the dude is good, don't get me wrong, and the songwriting is good as always. But there is something in her voice accompanied by the music that strikes a serious chord with me. The production is really good too, in my opinion. "Cult of Souls" and "Gates to Oblivion," dude, come on! I love all of their records, but something about this one hits me in the right place.
Now I am in a The Wounded Kings state of mind.
