Gonna listen multiple times over the next week and eventually write a review for this. I'm pumped.
| |
Sick so stoked. Commencing this now.
| |
what are we 12?
| |
Tour with The Wonder Years and We Are The In Crowd too. I'd suffer through the wonder years for that
| |
Yellowcard fucking rules
| |
Did you come into this thread to prove your musical maturity?
| |
their rhymes just dont soar with the melodies. they keep writing the same songs
| |
I hope this will be good
| |
The drums on "Sleep In The Snow" rule
| |
I like Always Summer but Awakening and Here I am, Alive didn't impress me much
| |
Ohhhh hell yes
| |
Big fan of Sleep in the Snow, their drummer rarely disappoints
| |
^ Yeah I think that is probably my favorite. CD is definitely as good as the last album if not better.
Also, inb4 KSK1
| |
cool.
| |
@Nash, that's a pretty bold statement. I like it so far but haven't heard anything that tops "Be The Young" or "Life of Leaving Home" from their last album.
| |
this is so good wooooooh
| |
damn nash just broke my heart a bit
TWY rule
| |
ten is cut off :c
| |
Ten is awesome...but too short
| |
"you'd suffer through a better band? so brave. "
Both of their last albums are 3.5's so...
| |
their hiatus did them wonders
| |
Of course not. I'm just saying that neither bands' last efforts were amazing. Yellowcard needs to write new songs and TWY need to be more exciting.
| |
Yeah, The Wonder Years are definitely better than Yellowcard. However, Yellowcard is more nostalgic for me.
| |
@Chipmunk, dude Suburbia was classic.
| |
Def no.
| |
So what about Suburbia did u not like exactly?
| |
Loving the new album. Ten is quite emotional and the title track is so good.
| |
So far, 2nd track rules, seems like a lesser For You and Your Denial, maybe better. 1st track kinda blows. 3rd track is okay, 4th track kinda blows.
| |
No way! I was just listening to these guys yesterday and was wondering if anyone still listened to them after "Lights and Sounds" :P I will check this out. I really liked them as a kid.
| |
Not as good as When You're Through Thinking but yea rules
| |
Rivertown Blues rules so much.
| |
Surface of the Sun is pretty great, I'm just making my way through this now
| |
"their rhymes just dont soar with the melodies. they keep writing the same songs"
this has been a problem since L&S
| |
I really enjoyed this after one listen, but i cant help but wish they would write a follow up to lights or paper walls instead of continually writing ocean avenue's
| |
This is like Paper Walls to an extent
Nothing like L&S though
| |
I never liked much from these guys besides "ocean avenue" but this sounds pretty solid
| |
Very good stuff!! Definitely going to land somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4 for me.
Edit: Holy crap, "Rivertown Blues" is so sexy
| |
Yeah, good stuff but too Yellowcard-ish. These guys really need a change of sound.
| |
I don't think it is a bold statement. I like it as much as their last album. But I prefer their newer stuff its more consistently in the vein that I enjoy from them
Yes, it's no secret I hate the wonder years so yes I would suffer through them. Although I do think TWY get better as they age. I just hated their early stuff. Sorry Ty I hope this hasnt stifled the fire in your heart for my body
| |
Also, Sowing I couldn't agree more that this sounds like Paper Walls although I think the latter half of this album is strong than PW
| |
Is enjoyable, yellowcard has made before some catchy and consistent track. But some of their tracks didn't caught my attention. Anyways , I'm going to give a chance to their next LP.
| |
Agreed, 3 to 3.5 material, great and enjoyable stuff, but does not impress - just like most of their
stuff.
| |
Their first material brought me back memories.
| |
can't even listen to this right now too sad about btmi
| |
Dat nostalgia
| |
yeah surface of the sun is pretty good, ten is atrocious, and the rest was forgettable. actually the last song sounded pretty cool but yeah
maybe i'll warm up to it after a few more listens but i prefer their last effort, which is miles better imo
| |
One of my favourite bands. Will give this a listen tonight
| |
Tried listening, but it wasn't interesting atm
| |
Oh hey, they still exist.
| |
Okay, this is pretty good. Gets better with each listen. Even Here I am, Alive has grown on me it's so catchy.
| |
^ Told ya
| |
2nd track and Rivertown Blues both rule. Everything else is just Yellowcard being Yellowcard playing Yellowcard songs.
3/5 as of now.
| |
love this band.
| |
Yellowcard being yellowcard? Imagine that.
| |
Wait, you lowered the score because the songs sound like something you'd expect from them?
This is easily a 3.5/4
| |
Ya I'll give this a 4
| |
"Yellowcard being yellowcard? Imagine that.
Not that I don't like them being Yellowcard, this is just too typical of them. They need a change of sound.
"Wait, you lowered the score because the songs sound like something you'd expect from them?"
It was probably wasn't gonna end up a 3.5 to begin with. I imagined it would be as good as When You're Through Thinking (which was a 3.5), and it isn't. 3/5
| |
I see what you mean by them needing to change their sound. However, I hear influences from all their albums on here.
| |
It's like why fix what isn't broken? : P
| |
Still rules this is really good
| |
That's the issue with every band. They don't change and people shit on them for not progressing. They do change and if people don't think it's for the better it's like WTF
Rare birds change for the good and they end up being the classics on sputnik. (Brand New, Thrice, etc.)
| |
I think this album is perfectly on par with the last. (which I thought were both excellent)
| |
this is 3.5 to 4 range for me, at the end of the day its hard to hate on good ol innocent yellowcard
| |
"It's like why fix what isn't broken? : P"
This is what Nickelback thinks about when they are "writing" music.
| |
^ Wrong. they get worse.
| |
No progression/experimentation = getting worse, in my opinion.
| |
Progression/Experimentation =/= getting better
| |
solid pop punk. i can see the progression argument. only bcuz I would've like this more in 2000 when I was younger, but that's not to say it's their fault for not "growing/progressing" their sound. It could've been that they changed it up and the result would've sucked hard.
| |
"Progression/Experimentation =/= getting better"
That goes without saying.
| |
Yeah I usually enjoy monopolizing my time by listening to hours of shit music because sput staff likes it.
| |
"Tour with The Wonder Years and We Are The In Crowd too. I'd suffer through the wonder years for that"
you'd suffer through the band that wrote one of the best punk-pop albums in recent memory? you martyr you.
anyway gonna bump anchor&braille out of my listening queue for a bit to stream all this.
| |
Chipmunk how dare you compare Yellowcard to Nickelback. LOL
| |
As I said earlier... I don't like the wonder years. And I don't think they are as awesome as everyone else. I'd take NFG's Radiosurgery over anything TWY any day, and that's not even near their best
| |
"band sucks. half of you only like them because of the two hits they had a decade ago, other half only likes em because sowing does"
that's just asinine
...wait is that a thing now? liking something 'cause sowing does?
| |
i definitely alter my musical tastes to be in line with other peoples' all the time
| |
people here have been doing that since 2004
don't be a sarcastic little prick because you're not good at it.
| |
Lay off the fumes bro they aren't good for your health
| |
"don't be a sarcastic little prick because you're not good at it."
then i will keep practicing
| |
awesome stuff.
| |
As I expected, this album rules!
| |
first listen, pretty strong, rivertown blues is great
| |
gotta say all of the melodies are pretty great in this album. typical pop punk lyrics (not a bad thing) but melodies do a lot of the heavy lifting, which is how it should be obvi
| |
