Fantastic

Just like I said in the other news thread that announced this was coming up, they're not just a dubstep duo so that needs to be changed and this was bad
|
| |
Well I liked it.
And I never thought I'd see the day when there was electronica elitism on Sputnik...
|
| |
There is when you say that word
|
| |
Haha, touché. I don't pretend to be anywhere near educated on dubstep or dubstep-esque acts, but referring to acts with the term "electronica" allows those who don't give a shit about that or any of the related genres to sod off and do something they enjoy.
|
| |
Was really disappointing
|
| |
Right, but there's still no elitism present when all I'd like to see is a band described properly
|
| |
I really enjoyed it.

@Dev:
I get that it's irritating that people consistently define acts in the wrong genre, but acting with moderate amounts of disdain towards naive or ignorant people isn't exactly the best way to invest their interest in the same genres on this website.
I, as much as anyone, appreciate your contribution to the simplification of the obscene number of subgenres of electronic music, and I have followed your lists to discover some great new music. However, I do sometimes find that your temper seems strained with people who you think ought to know better, but don't.
It might purely be a misconception of mine regarding your view of people, but it is difficult to shake the feeling that you like to be the most knowledgeable person in your field. This in itself is not a bad thing, but when coupled with making people very aware of how little they know, it can be seen to be belittling.
But like I say, I appreciate your contribution to this website, so please don't bite my head off over my comments
|
| |
P.S. I'm not normally such a verbose twat.
|
| |
they're not just a dubstep duo so that needs to be changed
Explain to me how that's disdainful and not just what it is, which is a request to have it changed
|
| |

Not at all, I just subscribe to the the theory that when in doubt research research research
|
| |
No, I don't mean your comments in this thread, I just mean in general over the last few weeks. I can't
be bothered trawling through threads, but there are examples. I'm not looking for an argument, I was
just throwing my opinion out there, based on conversations I've witnessed over the last couple of
months.
"Not at all, I just subscribe to the the theory that when in doubt research research research"
That's fair enough, but you have to be accepting of the fact that not everyone would have the same
free time to research as much as you, and would therefore be less knowledgeable than yourself.
|
| |
Yes, but that's not my problem
|
| |
True, and I'm aware that being a contrib has little to no responsibility with it, but surely you'd find people more receptive to suggestions and knowledge if you're willing to give both of those to them without being quite so (for want of a better word) arsey?
|
| |
I am more than open to giving both of them, or have my lists and several of my reviews been in vain?
|
| |
d00d if it ain't emo then it has to be dubstep
|
| |
Damn Dev, calm down.
I thought this was cool. Super cool.
|
| |
Who said i'm not
|
| |
It's cool video, someone apparently got the genre wrong, no one cares. The majority of people here hardly listen to dubstep or electronica or house or whatever the hell you wanna call it. I would rather talk about the video than discuss genre bullshit.
|
| |
It was okay. Sounded more like a soundtrack than anything to listen to on it's own.
|
| |
wow dev
|
| |
I liked it, I thought it was a little orchestra heavy, but I think it was quite impressive considering Nero wrote pretty much
the whole thing by themselves.
And they said in an interview they couldn't kind of include alot of the deeper basses and other aspects of the electronic
and dubstep side without drowning out the orchestra or making it sound messy.
And I wrote dubstep because that's what the duo refer to themelves as, well, dubstep/drum and bass, but it looked neater
just writing one. And the BBC refer to them as dubstep, and this as a 'dubstep symphony', even though even I wouldn't
call it that, but I just went with it.
|
| |
Damn, I wish I didn't come on here when shitfaced...
|
| |
this would've been way better without nero
|
| |
Pretty disappointing. Nice change from dubstep to electronic lol.
|
| |
Why thankyou, aha.
|
| |
I enjoyed it. If nothing else, it was something different and innovative. I'd agree that there wasn't a whole lot of dubstep being played though.
|
| |
it was alright, a bit patchy in places
|
| |
Thank you, that's the change I wanted! It's just that they're not just dubstep and that's not how they started out was all
|
| |
Lol, half the time I thought I was listening to Metallica S+M.
Their dnb productions are their best by far, IMO.
|
| |
It was pretty boring in most places, seemed like a pointless exercise overall that contributed little to either genre
|
| |
Got the group facetime and maybe some exposure
|
| |
I think (?) they are pretty big in the UK anyway, a lot of Radio 1 DJ's playing them etc, could just be a PR stunt.
|
| |
yeah having previously been into dubstep and since gotten over it I was looking for a reason to get back into it in that performance, didn't find it. It definitely was a great way to publicise Nero, maybe (but probably not) contemporise the orchestra, but musically i didn't find it contributed anything
|
| |

True, but performing in association with the BBC can really only add to this
