Bjork Unveils Live Residency

2011-03-17 by conradtao EMERITUS | 30 Comments
Bjork will be giving six performances at the Campfield Market Hall between June and July this year, as part of the Manchester International Festival. For these six shows, Bjork will be performing new tracks from the upcoming Biophilia as well as with a small group of unique musical collaborators. The show will feature the use of unique, specially created instruments, including a digitally-controlled pipe organ; a 30-foot pendulum that harnesses the earth’s gravitational pull to create musical patterns; a gamelan-celeste hybrid; and an unusual pin barrel harp.

The Biophilia live show will travel to major cities around the world following the Manchester premiere.

Sooooooo awesome. Also, I didn't even know she had a new album coming out.

The community manager for Barclay Records, who distribute Björk's albums in France, just tweeted: "Björk's new album is playing in the boss's office..."

I like how unusual only appears to describe the last object

Deviant, I've got a 30 foot pendulum that harnesses the earth's gravitational pull to create music patterns in my living room and a broken down one in my backyard.

Pretty standard I thought.

Just read that the Biophilia album was partly recorded on an iPad and will be released in a series of apps. Obviously can't confirm that, but I hope that isn't the case.

Call me an old fashioned twat but I'm happy with a CD.

Unlike, you know, those other pendulums that don't use gravity
