Yeah I've been wanting to see sunn for 3 years or more. They never play anywhere close and by close I mean 4 or 5 hours away.

I look at the taste of people who think Sunn is boring and it's not surprising at all.

This years Roadburn, already featured the guys from Sunn O))) as Goatsnake and Thorr's Hammer played the festival, so it wasn't the biggest surprise that Sunn O))) would curate this year. Should be a great experience though. So now all they have to do is bring along Twilight, Orthodox, Black Breath, Boris, Eagle Twin and The Atlas Moth and I can die a happy man.

It's a lot more complicated than facing your guitar towards your amp. It's called sound engineering, what they do is not technically challenging of course but it's very creative and immersive. People always say how easy it is to play but actually creating a similar sound is pretty hard, a lot of bands blow out amps and ruin all kinds of shit. I remember hearing Sleep blew out some amps early on after they got signed cause they didn't know what they were doing.

But whatever, I'm glad drone will stay underground.

I'd say so. If I ever made music it would be drone/doom, there is nothing more earth shaking and awe inspiring IMO. You aren't going to make money off it, unless you hit it "big" like Sunn or Earth. Dudes from Sunn are in a lot of other bands and Anderson runs Southern Lord records and O Malley is a graphic artist so even one of the most successful drone/metal bands doesn't make enough to live off.

It takes more patience and should be approached not as normal songwriting but as an experience.

For the sole reason of how angry it is. It is more of a fun listen, and not normally the music I listen to. Obviously Sunn is way more creative and avante garde

'Strain is heavy, fun , and angry. It seems so wishy-washy to me though. Gets boring after a while
